The unique choir project EuroChoir by the European Choral Association takes place in a different country every year since 1982. In 2022, it was Switzerland’s turn!
50 singers between the ages of 18 and 30 from all over Europe studied a demanding programme together with the two conductors Yuval Weinberg (ISR) and Marco Amherd (CH) and presented the results of their work during a concert tour through Switzerland. After 7 days full of intense rehearsals in Lenk im Simmental in the Bernese mountains, new friendships, deep bonds, sightseeing, long conversations, valuable lessons, sunny weather, hiking in the mountains, enjoying Swiss food, and culture, singing all day and night, fun, love and appreciation, the choir presented its programme at four successful concerts in Lenk, Basel, Flims and Rheinau and met young and ambitious local choirs on the way. The project showed once again, how important musical, cultural and social exchange across nations can be and how music can deeply connect people with different backgrounds with each other.
