This is great to watch. I remember when BART first opened in 1972. Then to Richmond, the Concord line, San Francisco - Daly City and finally(for a while) the TransBay tube. I I can't believe the Rohr built cars have lasted as long as they have. Many of the Rohr cars have to be pushing 50 years old.
Should have been built when bart was created, i believe when bart was originally planned, it was to be built all around the bay and all the way up to Vallejo..
Cool. Now I can check out Friday night bands on the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, then ride the Hwy. 17 express to Diridon, hop on the VTA 500, and be on BART before midnight. 😃 Oh, wait, not this summer... 😥
The Bay Area needs full light rail coverage AND full light electric vehicle access to the freeway system from San Jose through Silicon Valley and to Marin, Santa Rosa and the Mountain of Attention.
Nice video. Any videos out there showing what the transfer experience is like going from the BART Milpitas station to the VTA's Milpitas light rail station (or vice versa)? How long it takes? Signage/wayfinding?
The new berryessa station looks like the largo town center station in DC. And the milpitas station lookslike tye prince georges plaza station in DC as well.
PS: MAY SEEM LIKE A SILLY QUESTION, BUT DO THESE BART TRAINS TRAVEL ALL THE WAY TO SAN FRANCISCO? I WOULD THINK SO. IF NOT, THEN i WOULD GUESS IN THE NOT TOO DISTANT FUTURE. GUESS BART IS FOCUSING ON EXTENSIONS TO THE SOUTH BAY & CIRCLING THE ENTIRE BAY AREA EVENTUALLY. GOOD LUCK BART BOARD OF DIRECTORS. MAKE THOSE SOUTH BAY EXTENSIONS HAPPEN AS THEY WILL NEED TO VERY SOON.
Clearly good news that this has been extended finally, but American transport design really leaves a lot to be desired. Berryessa station looks like it's come straight out of the 1970s and is awaiting modernisation!
Strong disagree! BART has fantastic infrastructure. The system has its downsides, but the quality of the infrastructure isn't one of them. Unlike even some highly touted European and Asian systems, it's fully accessible, has elevators and escalators everywhere, is open and with lots of light and air. The trains have giant windows, are extremely spacious, have extremely comfortable seats, and allow one to move between the cars. Many of the "best" transit systems are often extremely claustrophobic, downright byzantine in terms of wayfinding, and dark and scary-looking. Again, not saying BART is perfect. They definitely need to get rid of the giant parking deserts next to the stations and build housing and commercial. The absolutely need to double the frequency and increase the speeds back to the old 80mph top speed. But bad infrastructure is just not a criticism that is applicable to BART. Even many brand new systems don't look and work this well!
There was a TV series about transit that concentrated on one city in each episode. When they came to San Francisco they started listing all the different modes: bus, trolley bus, light rail, streetcar, cable car, heavy rail, subway, ferry... well let's put it this way, it's a transit junkie's paradise.
Noticed on Sunday they haven't quite got the digital maps updated yet, nor it seems the audio announcements. How quite and smooth this ride is highlights how underfunded and neglected the rest of BART system is (among most US systems). All of the noise, screeching, and roughness is the result of decades of deferred maintenance. US id parrots a self-fulfilling narrative of degraded transit.
What's the Social Distancing heath safety measure inside BART train? Mo marks or sign on the seating area. People are literally inches close to each other. People are trying to protect themselves but inside the BART train is Russian Roulette. Please do something about BART!
brooks hill If the housing market There operates anything like the market here in London, the opening of a station within walking distance will have added fifty percent to the value of those houses overnight. I suspect the owners are more than happy!
@@iannarita9816 The problem was, those speeds burned up the traction motors, and they cut back to 72 mph in standard service. I don't know if they still go up to 80 mph if they get behind.
Graffiti has never really been a problem. Remember this is a completely grade separated system with 2/3rds of it either in subway or elevated. Yes, you sometimes get the marking pen stuff on the insides but there are few places to let fly with spray paint and they are patrolled.
Love new stops and new train
I love 💘 the Bart train 🚆 old and new 😍 I wish I can ride on a new Bart train one day 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I wonder where the old BART cars end up when they cannot use them anymore?
Such a quiet and smooth ride!
That miltapas station was literally beautiful
At last!!!! The thing I’ve been waiting YEARS for
San Jose looks beautiful!
It was a great day. I took the train and enjoyed the weather in the Bay Area. This is a huge milestone guys!
Very nice new brand trains! Looking forward travelling again to SFO and ride on them!

Don’t forget Los Gatos
I would love to see a walkthrough from Milpitas BART to VTA's light rail station.
Thanks for the suggestion! We might get around to it.
Nice smooth ride compared to going north from Dublin station to San Francisco.
Finally the Milpitas station near great mall for Dave n busters finally opened due to delays of getting the computer systems to work

I said the same exact thing....This new station gave me a DC feel ...
@@mwmack8973 Legit BART and WMATA are one of my favorite systems
@@its-LuqmanVlogs They operate the same way too. Bart and WMATA aren't really subways. They're really commuter rail-subway systems
my son sis don and i going to san francisco this year
Really awesome!
It would have been nice to see who the moving map on the side of the train works.

Yes they do; the Green Line travels between Daly City and Berryessa.
Outstanding video. :)
Thank you :)
Sadly though I moved out of cali before it opened , but thanks for this video it would be great if you do a detailed tour of both of these stations.
You're welcome! We have a pre-opening tour of these two stations right here: ua-cam.com/video/zxJbSK2QEIk/v-deo.html
Love the new trains. Tracks are smooth allowing a comfortable fast ride. Who produced the train sets? Are they Buy America compliant?
They are manufactured by Bombardier, and they are Buy America compliant.
What camera did you use? This footage looks amazing!
Thank you! This was shot on an LG V40.
I live right across the st fro, here can't wait for covid 19 to go away to ride this thing. It came at the worst time .

De Oakland, horario para Milpitas fin de semana por favor ☺️ gracias👌🤓

I wonder why the Bart train isn't the first thing people think of San Francisco like the subway is the first thing people think of New York
There are so many other parts to public transit in San Francisco, it isn't as focused as the Subway in New York.
TV and movies just never mentions BART. They mention the cable cars, but that's about it.

how come nobody's going to san francisco? or even oakland? come on I wanna see those videos, enough with these short trips already
Because of the lockdown. It will get better soon hopefully
Is there a reason for the snail's pace stop into Warm Springs? I hope that's not normal.
This wasn't the only train creeping into the station that day; we don't know why it's currently like that, and hopefully it doesn't last long.

Those stations are way too far apart.
A future infill station is planned at Calaveras when the City of Milpitas finds a way to fund it.
@@BayAreaTransitNews I thought plans were dropped for that station since that area is developed with new housing.

Yesterday (June 13) was opening day. Congrats on winning the Cup btw, from a Sharks fan.
Bay Area Transit News haha, I live about 15 min from the ws station, I’m planning on riding it
Bay Area Transit News and thx
Hate to own those homes near the tracks at the beginning of the video. I guess you would have to deal with the noise.... nice homes but...

I’m surprised BART/ VTA didn’t add sound barriers since the tracks are so close to the homes. They aren’t that expensive to install...
whats the speed??
Nick's Garage can go Up to 70 mph
I remember back in the 1970's BART speeds up 80mph on a normal basis and could be pushed over 90mph.
@@iannarita9816 The problem was, those speeds burned up the traction motors, and they cut back to 72 mph in standard service. I don't know if they still go up to 80 mph if they get behind.

I’m sure youre over-exaggerating. I’ve rode BART for 5 years and NO human excrement was on the train. Old and new.
