Finally 🥳💃🏻 Well the advantages outweigh the disadvantages in my opinion 😊 Invest with what you can afford to lose. Every investment is a risk so that of FGN Bonds shouldn’t be any different. If the feared risk happens, we move
Investing in FG bonds should be the safest form of investment, with zero risks. It is the governmental structure specifically in Nigeria, that's breeding fear and doubts in people.
‘Those are not GENUINE’ fears. No government has ever defaulted on the so-called JUNK bonds. Nigerias as bad as e bad has never defaulted, even her EUROBONDS are usually oversubscribed. The worst that happens is that government will PRINT MONEY. So bonds are SAFE. These are the best of times for bond investment.
Governments have defaulted ... loads actually. Having worked in the banking sector, I know it too well. Whilst it is unlikely the Nigerian government will default, be pragmatic when investing. It is paying double digit rate for a reason ( Junk bond status). To help you out with a BIG government that has defaulted in recent times, see - Russia, late 90's I believe, but you can google it; and there are others. Stay safe and invest safely.
I understand that the government is meant to be trusted with the bonds investment but her fears is based on historical events. Even when an institution is giving out a loan to someone, they check the individual’s character and historical records before processing. Flo is only pointing out the obvious so for some who aren’t understanding her point, you might want to rewatch the video and get her point spelt out in black and white. I also love how realistic she is with the facts, most channels wouldn’t even spell it out for you the way it is or express their fears but she did and it’s okay to indemnify yourself especially when you hold a platform like this where you educate people financially. Trust and openness is very important!
Tell them for me o! ❤ Some Nigerians don't like people who say the truth. They prefer everyone keeps quiet and pretend everything is alright. I was clear and concise in this video. Whoever does not get it should search his/her pockets. 😃😆
Sis, I will like to compliment you for these informative and educative piece. Infact, in this edition you have really spoken my mind. I also have that fear you mentioned. But all in all, I will endeavor to invest a token that I know that losing it won't make me run mad 😢😢😢
A government bond, by definition, is virtually risk-free. The risk of default will be catostroohic, especially with regard to the international stakeholders/investors and rating agences. I doubt that any government that is worth the term "governnent" will ever even consider doing such a thing. But, I get your point. With Nigeria anything is possible.
your husband is one of the luckiest men in the world. I have nothing more to say. May God bless me with such intelligent and vastly knowledgeable lady like you.
What one COULD do is think and act like the institutional investors which is to go with bond tenors that end (matures) before the current dispensation ends/next election.
The concerns you raised are valid and it behoves everyone to do their due diligence before investing. In an ideal world government bonds are relatively safe but as you know nothing is ideal about Nigeria. Be that as it may, diversification is always the best strategy when it comes to investing. I am surprised by the number of comments here indicating that the government can't default on coupon payments. Yes, any government can default and some have: 1. Russia in 1917 2. Germany in 1923 3. China in 1949 4. Czechoslovakia in 1952 5. Cuba in 1960 6. Mexico in 1982 7. Ethiopia & Sri Lanka respectively in 2023. So you see there's no such thing as zero risk especially when you are talking about a poorly run country like Nigeria. People are always cautioned never to put all their eggs in one basket.
Nothing is a 100% guaranteed while investing. Ascertain as much as you can and make your decision. Hopefully it turns out well. But if it does not, you pick up the pieces and move on.
Honestly I had this worrisome thought, but on the sovereignty order attached, I believe the won’t be reckless to such an extent. If the country default on its sovereign debt and order on FGNB, it certainly means the country is as well liquidated, as a sovereign NATION with sovereign wealth.
Subscription has been approved for April. It's over 18 percent for the 3 year bond and over 17 percent for the 2 year bond. Even if the country separates into 3 , investors will receive their money.
Any time a country fails to pay its debt it’s down graded.. any time the bonds are down graded the bonds of that country become junk.. I don’t think Nigerian bond market will face the junk status.. the Nigeria economy is the second largest in Africa.. your leaders will not allow the country to loss its good grade it has in the international market..look for the grade of the Nigerian bond market.. it will tell you a lot if it’s safe or not
For me, looking at the disadvantage, it will be difficult for the federal government to get away with our money. Alot of stakeholders are involved. Thanks.
It has never happened before in Nigeria, so why are you discouraging us. Why are you creating fear into the investors heart. Please Ma, we need an encouragement.
Is a Guarantee investment most Banks do it because is the most reliable means and Guaranteed investment in Nigeria go and study it and understand better the only problem is that the profit fluctuations is not stable

On your first video encouraging FBN bonds investment, I almost commented "I don't trust FGN". Now I'm seeing this video.
Pls how does one buy govt bonds from the Diaspora? I have no CHN, CSCS experience
Is there a way I can buy the bond from the primary source? Or must I go through broker?
