I think the best part of the Serpent Hunter is that it actually has scaling, unlike the Storm Ruler before it. That, and catching people with the first L2 is unbelievably satisfying.
I feel like people mistake this weapon as "Storm Ruler" because its a gimmick weapon that loses a lot of its value past the boss fight it was made for, but unlike the storm ruler, this weapon is actually extremely good well after its intended fight. Scales very well with strength, Amazing moveset that has a somewhat lingering poke hitbox on all of its thrusts making it EXTREMELY easy to roll catch, its inherent ability to deal counter damage, its weapon art dealing giga damage if it somehow lands-- especially on counter hits, it can actually one shot people, made slightly easier with the near infinite hyper armor you get while performing it. It actually has a surprising amount going for it. It honestly sucks you cant put other affinities or greases on it because this would probably be the go-to weapon for a lot of builds lookin to have a great spear. That and the weapon looks fuckin SICK
The Giant’s Braid whip that you get from the Fire Giant remembrance actually has a cool ash of war Chase. Hoping to see whips get some love from you, haven’t seen much of them yet.
I was Grimm, the last guy with the scythe! Just my luck to fight you on my first duel with a new build lmao. Love the videos, I’ll be preparing for the next one!
This weapon is also good in PVE outside of the Rykard fight. Distortion2 uses it in his soul level 1 speed runs where he kills all the remembrances. He uses it the whole time and does pretty good stagger too, similar to collosal weapons.
Up to this point the weapons have all had good reach if I'm not mistaken, how about trying out some more exotic choices? Dual daggers (reduvia maybe?) or wakizashis for the luls, hell even some flails (baby rattle is fancy), I feel it would be a bit more challenging but also entertaining.
Cool weapon and much better than Storm Ruler ever was. I wanted to see great hammer showcase but at this point i'll take any weapon whose bread and butter attack isn't a fucking poke.
@@tormxnta You are not watching the competitive dueling scene then haha. We have seen multiple people running double anchors and doing jump attacks! Have you taken a look at the Iron Cleaver? It has a special R2 that puts you in a sprint while you wind up your attack. Fantastic for roll catching and being aggressive. Even with a meme-y ash of war like Beast Roar, it's been surprisingly good for me in duels. Sort of overlooked but definitely a gem.
Hey Chase, I had a couple of recommendations for these showcases I haven't heard you deliberate yet. Since I know you love dealing with ganks, you could try doing the invasions segment first, or at least recording it first, and if you just end up with duels, you could put those invasions in the duel section. And in your last showcase or the one before, you were talking about how many duels vs invasions you want to do, and I was thinking at least for the weapons with interchangeable weapon arts, you could to 2 duels per ash of war as you have been, but then do one invasion with the same ash's of war so showcase it all in both circumstances. But that's just some food for thought that I think you said you were looking for. All that aside, great video and I have been enjoying your content for years and very much look forward to more Elden Ring!
Whips are pretty awesome. I really recommend the urumi since it has an S in dex and a very long range thurst r2 that most people dont expect from a whip.
Power stanced greatswords are mostly just for the cool factor imo. Personally I use a single Knight's Greatsword because it has a better moveset and because of how cool it looks, it's actually decently effective!
I remember using the serpent hunter during an invasion in the area right before rykards arena, i was helping hosts defeat him so i could level up, and i absolutely slaughtered some guy in full lionel armor using dual katanas, never really used the weapon besides that but still love it.
hey chase vid recommendation- use Bewitching Branch to get a tough enemy on your side then use Taunters Tongue to get invaders, I'm sure could make for a funny vid
Problem is the branch only lasts about a minute, and most of the harder enemies (and even a lot of the not-so-hard enemies) are immune to it anyways. Would be cool to see though.
Anything with arcane scaling works, or you can infuse other weapons with occult and get good results, particularly with bleed weapons. I don’t know if any arcane/faith weapons unfortunately
Probably a noob question even though I have beaten the game 3 times over, but how do you +10/+25 all the weapons you showcase? All the bells and just farm the runes for the somber/regular stones? That begs the question how do you respec so many times in one play-through? Just curious, probably a simple answer that I'm just missing.
The family heads flail would make a good showcase. Not a good weapon but would be a good video. It's an int/strength flail that scales pretty badly. The ash of war is alright I guess. But it looks fantastic visually and it'd probably fit your faith character when you get that going and supplement with some incantations.
Chase the spear talisman only increase DMG when you counter attack, you know, when you block than press heavy attack with piercing weapons, so it's not useful if you are not behind a shield
so, a question with a limited number of places to ask... might as well try here. I was doing taunter tongue invasions, got invaded by a "My man," all normal, but then when going to greet them get blindsided by a "eliminator soul," which had no invasion message, and was pretty much just acting like an AI. Was this some sort of hack they used to bring ina companion? a glitch that caused someone to invade silently alongside someone else? Couldn't be a normal full invasion because you can only get 1 while tongued without summons, unless I'm wrong there. regardless made me panic alt+f4 in fear of foul play

Man when I got this spear I was like I am never taking it off and after the boss fight I was disappointed.
Vykes war spear is insane and madness is madness
I'd love to see some flail showcases. Feels like a lot of people dismiss them all as bad but you can do a ton of damage with the right build
I really enjoy using the flail with the wild strikes aow if you haven’t tried that I highly recommend
I think most people have the same mindset as you with the buffs, as long as the opponent isn’t buffing, they won’t as well.
Guard counters are different from counter attacks bud.

I thought it was gonna be a stormruler clone but it unironically slaps
so, a question with a limited number of places to ask... might as well try here.
