Valletta is a stunning place. Malta is like going back in time. I loved my visits there.
Went to Buggibba back in '90 but never Valletta. The pub where Ollie died is a good reason to go back. R.I.P Ollie

Oliver Reed was drinking with sailors from a British Frigate, he passed out in this pub.
A real character and man's man who was scared of nobody. He once went into a Rugby League
social club in Northern England calling the blokes 'Northern Poufs' after a fracas, they all
loved him.
I was going to suggest you visit 'The Pub'. I was there in Nov 2003. A sign post identified it as where Ollie had his last orders! I think the outside has been renovated over the past 20 yrs. From memory, the inside looked like it had been hewn out of rock. There used to be a black & white picture of an RN frigate in Grand Harbour. Ollie was apparently very friendly with the sailors. But not in a Charles Hawtrey sort of way!
Valleta used to close down c 5pm - maybe the locals wanted the place to themselves after the tourist infestation during the day. But I see from your night-time video that it is now jumping after dark.
My favourite activity there was walking round the ramparts in the sun.
I'm in Tenerife for 2wks from 5th Dec. Sounds like you'll be there long before that. Shame. I would have treated you to Tides's (small) fish & chips, & a can of Irn Bru!

I'm watching this video on 22 April 2024, and just yesterday, I visited Oliver Reed's grave in Co Cork Ireland. On a lovely sunny Sunday morning.

I had an afternoon sesh in the Pub about 4 weeks ago when we visited. It used to be called Ollie's bar before they changed it to the Pub. Nice Ollie pics on the wall.

He was in The Pub and so was Josephine. Often they would do the touristy bit when days off from filming Gladiator. They loved strolling around this area. There used to be a Chinese nearby where they would often lunch, then go to The Pub. On the fateful day, the Chinese was closed, so they went to The pub, so he would have had an empty tummy when drinking black rums and arm wrestling sailor's. They were watching the Grande Prix on the TV in there, when she noticed something wrong. He did not look right and was going blue around the gills. An ambulance was called. While waiting the ambulance he was given mouth to mouth and heart massage, by staff. She and the publican's wife got in the ambulance with Ollie when he was bundled into it. They battled to save him in the hospital, but like you say, he may have passed away in the ambulance. His heart gave way. Russell Crowe was not keen on Oliver Reed. This is from the book What Fresh Lunacy is This? by Robert Sellers. I highly recommend it.

Love all your vlogs... and me personally i like that you diversify. I adore malta, but its puerto de la cruz that has my heart, been 3 times just this year. Everyone is different thank god, im not a lover of thevsouth, but still enjoy your vlogs there. Keep up the good work😊
Thanks for the info on Oliver Reed did you know that Oliver Reed and Richard Harris go on benders together probably drink the pub dry between them legends the two of them .
