I wish more Native Men and Women were this respectful to there Mothers, Fathers, Parents, Grandparents whoever raised them. I know some people would probably say I do I do but for me in person i don't see that much, and for those who have both parents I wish they could show a lot of respect to them. Thats how a better generation can start out learn to respect your parents, grandparents, family, and mother earth. I hate seeing all these beer bottles around the reservation and trash and see the younger generation doing that. Well thats on the Navajo Reservation. Sometime I plan on going camping and picking trash up with my husband but it has to be when we can go home for a while.
RVSD1984 Most Indigenous cultures of North America were traditionally matrilineal who lived off the land and only took what they needed. Elder or most influential women were usually the head of the clans, the women owned and managed all property and lands. The Men were head of the governments and were out hunting, trading, protecting and providing. Yup, maybe we all should look back how our ancestors were successful and at least incorporate some of the lifestyles and philosophy of our ancestors with our modern day Native community. There are Native communities, people who still live that way, and not all are littering drunks. But yes, respect the land, your women and your culture.
Thomas Oklahoma I know not all are littering drunks but you know the Rez I'm from I see people who need to start respecting elders and others even Mother Earth but they don't do that. I plan on doing that when I finally get to move back home. I fallow my spouse around because he's military and I try to tell my younger family cousins nieces and nephews to respect people but it is hard to do that when I can't show them in person. There's only one person I've seen that goes around in her truck and she was always picking up trash but she's from older generation and I liked that. But those who are still on the Rez that see it everyday don't do anything about it. And I know there are people who still live diff with no electricity or running water. They can't keep up on modern tech it's all around all reservations somewhere.
Today in Denver, CO you are performing… my son is in the ICU, he tried to commit suicide. He might be gone on the streets, but I sent him this song & he came back home sick. I knew this song would bring him back to his mom (iná) “Good Medicine” A’HO
