Hold up. So girl ran in when the interviewer asked the black girl a question about being a role model for black females saying, "all females". But then puts on the Latina hat at the end of the interview and non of the black people callback and say "all females". The hypocrisy.
It disturbed me from the beginning that she never would let Yara talk when asked a question. Normally two celebs make eye contact as to who will take what question and she kept on rambling.
Old ass 35 year old Gina was trying to take advantage of the teenager, Yara, in this interview by undercutting her and overtalking her but thankfully the interviewer was having none of it and put Gina in her pretentious ass place.
So she wants to butt in and do “All lives matter” on Yara’s praise but as soon as the Latinx community is brought up she changes tune lol. What a hypocrite, this woman can’t stand black people being up lifted. She carries the same anti-black views as her community does
This Latino doesn’t care about “representation”. Representation is and should be natural. Not forced. I care about merit and experience. I care less what your cultural background tends to be. I care about your acting. I care to be entertained not lectured. But you want to lecture while you entertain, keep it subtle and hinting. Make us answer our own allegory.
@HlddenTalent you must have horrible eye sight and might need new eyes beloved because idk who looks like a black woman or what black women you know that look like her
When the reporter corrected her and said yeah for BLACK WOMEN!! But he should have called her out at the end. Gina was so proud of her Latina roots but yet she wanted to take that praise away Yara!
Love what the interviewer did. Very subtle. "Yeah for women too but black women need that role model." "I didnt see many [Latinos] represented in the media" "Yeah I didnt see many black people in cartoons when I was little" He kept putting the focus on the black community when she was trying to take it off and put it onto her community. The anti blackness is real.
Yara is so classy at such a young age. Credit to her parents for raising just an incredible young woman. As for the other one; she's cancelled. She was trying so hard to make this whole interview about her.
So happy the interviewer corrected her, because yes Yara is an inspiring for black women! Did anyone notice how that Gina chicks voice changed after that, she is such a jealous weirdo!
Gina gabbed the whole interview and Yara was quiet. The moment the interviewer asked Yara a question she tried to take over. You may be Latina Gina but you’re not exempt to anti-Blackness After he shut her down she felt a way and it showed with her energy

She expressed being exited about working with Yara over Lebron. So her "all women" comment seemed like she was saying Yara inspires women like her as well. Problem is, Gina dismissed little black girls that were the focus of that comment. Also, I heard that she complained that black actresses get paid more than Latino and Asian actors. So im looking at you sideways Gina.
The way at the end she’s like “for our community, for Latinos” she was so mad about his comment and trying to bring it back to her in such a non subtle way
Why is this 34 year old being interviewed along side an 18 year old? It comes off as if shes trying to hog the interview and make it about herself and her community.
She's an attention hog always got be the center of attention. Yara could barely talk. She ain't tryna represent her community (my community) she's all about her. Think she's fake af.
Dam shes 34 but ages like 18 and yara mentality is at 34 she sounds so educated and mature meanwhile 34 year latina sounds so stupid and unclassy like, typical latinas.
Most Latinos are anti- black because the Mexican media mostly features Latinos of Spanish/ European descent or that are light skin. Light skin is seen as ideal within our society. Gina needs to unlearn this bias, since she clearly has it.
L. Portillo So Mexican media cant feature their people or other latinos from other countries because now their anti black? Wow how stupid are you. They are meant to represent us because we are under and misrepresented so that’s why they focus more on latinos of Spanish/European decent. Stop assuming.
@@youngnation9285 Actually I've done some research on this (I'm Black by the way) There is something called Colorism and it affects not only Black People but Dark Skin people in many countries. Actually colorism exist in Asia surprisingly where whitening cream is the #1 sold product there. But I digress I think OP was saying that Mexican Media focuses on fair skin European representation. Even in Brazil there was a period of Whitening Ideology that allowed immigration of white Europeans to get rid of the "Negro Problem" they literally called it that. So like in America Latin America focused on Caucasian representation. Many families had stigmas of dating dark skin people or if they were dark skin wanted their children to marry lighter skin to lighten the gene pool. Media plays into this because dark skin or Afro Latinx were predominantly shown as villians or servants. So from my research what she is saying comes from a place of personal experince for her. It's never good to generalize one of my ex's was Mexican her father told her not to be with me because I'm the N word with the hard R and I hear him. He said he'd disown her. Now I don't think all Mexicans are racist based in that but there is history there.
I honestly don’t agree with pinning this all on one country I’m black myself but honestly this comes from all around the world different ppl disrespecting black ppls culture but by pinning it on one country u anger the county even if u where right on the one person Yk.

Xilla thank you for that! I'm Mexican American and I found that it was totally out of place for Gina to say that. But thank you so much for standing up for Yara 💜 that "Latina" does not represent me lemme make that clear. Can't wait to see what other interviews you've done 🙂
Gina got a lot of nerve to hv a problem about the interviewer saying blk women representation comment, but now want to plug in Latino comment at the end? No that seems disingenuous. Nothing wrong talking about her community, but you just did an “all lives matter” spill. Make up your mind. This my first time knowing who this woman is and she’s not making a good impression with me and I’m sure the other million who don’t know who she is as well.
For those who are defending Gina, you’re only grasping half of it. We must dig deeper and not allow people to continue to do what she did in this interview. There is so much wrong with what she did. Not only did she speak out of turn while the spot light was on another star, but she discredited Yara and the work that she specifically does for the black community. Yara is very pro black if you follow her closely. Out of respect, Gina should have stayed graceful and kept quiet. And then to contradict herself shortly after by placing the focal point on the Latinx community, was in very poor taste. She just comes off as unaware and for lack of better words, simple-minded.
It's interesting how Rodriguez tried to correct the interviewer when he asked Shahidi a Black-specific question by making it about "all women," but then talked about representing Latinas specifically. Not cool.
Props to the interviewer for staying focus and making his point The culture needs him to do his job like we need that young woman to be the example to young girls. Dude gave the Richard Williams vibe and I wish more black men did this publically.
She displayed inherit racism without even knowing it. A lot of latin@s are like that. Latin America has way more blacks than USA, but you never see them on TV. Let that sink in.
Isn't that colorism rather than racism? It is a real thing amongst Hispanics and blacks alike. I don't see Gina as a racist. I think her comment was taken the wrong way by people who look for ways to be offended.
Johanna Ramos of course you don’t see an issue with her actions. But if the tables were turned and a white woman interjected Gina and said she was an inspiration for “all women” rather than Latina women, you’d be singing a different tune. Inherit racism is different from outright racism so please do some research. Colorism is just a consequence of racism so I don’t get why you’re nitpicking and deflecting from the real issue at hand. She has done this before and now she wants to use the n word. Lmao please
flipmode00 squad Yes, surprisingly her ignorance and bigotry got her good and made her too much dumb. Sofia Vergara is the highest paid actress and she is Latina. She is a hypocrite!!
Wait wait. So why was is not OK to Gina R. for the interviewer to single out black women for cultural inspiration, But she can single latinas out for cultural inspiration??
Crazy thing is they have been here and with the whole Ricky Martin and Jennifer Lopez Latin explosion it put them 2nd highest on the food chain as the most desired women because they are considered to be exotic and willing to deny their African ancestry openly. I don’t get why it is that she isn’t seeing that especially with her position gained. She keeps screaming don’t forget about us and that is not only annoying but also disturbing. Sounds like she’s lending a hand to our erasure and pushing us even further down the totem pole until we’re not even on it!!!
I understand what Gina is saying as far as the fact that anyone can look up to Yara regardless of whatever ethnicity. I think that she was saying “she’s a good example period.” But I think the interviewer was going for the idea that it’s important to have positive black representation for the black community.
As a young black girl, I'm 13 and yara really has shown me that you can be a young balck girl and make it to the top. We have 3 things goign against us so she is amazing and gina Rodriguez needs to fall back. I never realised how hypocritical she was. 🍁
Latino/Hispanic is not a race it's a culture, a language 500 years old. When Cortez subdued the lowlands of Mexico, and Pizarro dominated the high plains of Peru.
This made me mad like she gives us a bad name?? Yeet I’m a Hispanic and I love y’all black women and I’m so glad when y’all have representation and all of that ❤️❤️
Ok, that last part she said about Latino representation was so petty and clearly an attempt to turn the attention away from Yara. Had the interviewer said Gina was a great role model for her community, I doubt she would have corrected him.
I disagree that Gina was being disrespectful. Its not like she corrected Yara. She was trying to complement her by addint ot the interviewers perspective saying that Yara's not just admired by black women but by all women in general. The interviewer then clarified why he said what he said and it was done. Not like there was any back n forth. Ashame that she's being hated on for that.
That's fine and all but Yara herself has made it very clear that she wants to help pave the way for the under represented black girl and there is a time and place to talk about "all girls" but the interviewer mad a very specific comment showing gratitude to Yara for this, and Gina tried to steal that from her and I'm glad she was caught off. It's ok to address your own race
If that’s what she meant she wouldn’t have interrupted the interviewer the way she did and then go on to talk about Latino representation. She just didn’t want the conversation to be about black women. The fact that people don’t see that is mind boggling. It’s very clear she has some issues when it comes to the successes of black people. The reason I believe this is because this isn’t an isolated incident. She *keeps* doing it.
@Mike Noir which is what the issue was. Had Yara interrupted the interview during the Latin questions, you best believe Gina would have been offended. It was rude to interrupt period because she didn't know if the interviewer was going to get to "all women" later, but saying a young black woman is an inspiration to black women is most definitely not selling yourself short.
Wow. That was so dismissive. First off, it wasn't Gina's question to react to. Secondly, she can certainly be a role model for young women, but there is no denying her impact to young black women specifically. I just don't understand the thought process behind being... "wait no, ALL women". In theory it might sound better, but you're just denying her affect to young girls who will see themselves on the screen and be inspired. It dilutes that impact.
SO SHE DIDNT ALLOW FOR YARA TO HAVE HER MOMENT WHEN THE INTERVIEWER WAS LIKE HOW SHE REPRESENTS BLACK PEOPLE SHE IMMEDIATELY CUTS OF AND SAYS ALL COMMUNITYS / WOMEN BUT THEN SHES ALLOWED TO SAY SOMETHING FOR LATINOS . LIKE LET YARA HAVE HER MOMENT AND YOU CAN ALSO HAVE YOUR MOMENT
Do not think that Gina Rodriguez is the best representation for us Latinos. She’s using Latino as a race in reality it’s not. Sure she tried to be all “women are great.” But still ended up degrading black women at the same time. I think she needs to sit down and watch this shit again to fully grasp what she said and apologize for what she said. I don’t believe Gina is anti black, but her not noticing what she said and correcting herself makes her look like one. Take this L Gina and fix it. You’re only making yourself look worse.
You should claim her. She is Iranian. But if I had asked her a question about how Iranian women are underrepresented and how it is important for little Iranian girls to see themselves and someone was like ALL WOMEN!! During a time when people were downplaying the importance and outright lives of Iranian people. It would be very very insensitive. Replace Iranian with black and you might be able to understand the outrage a little more. Also add in her numerous downplaying of black women and her saying the N word. 👍🏾 + America 🇺🇸
@@HappyBehrTV 100 percent agree, I was being totally facetious. I would have waited until they finished to clarify that it's not at all the same but Yara means a lot of a lot of communities as a biracial women and I was honored to work with her. Rather than centering myself and downplaying the lived experience of Black women in this country. Sorry, my sarcastic tone didn't come across in written form. The other girl (I don't know her) came across poorly and the interviewer kept correcting her.
This is a real problem notice how she was quick to cut him off when he started talking about black representation. But at the same time had the dacity to talk about Latino representation. When Latino are not around people of color they will try the played a white card But as soon as they get around people of color That happen to have different eye color different head texted her in different skin tone.. That's When they will try to join people of color Because they realize people of color has that strong cool factor connected to them. Woman like her or might look mix But they will completely try to Erase the indigenous and African Dna Just to assimilate.
I think Gina was trying to say that she shouldn't be a role model just because of her skin color but because shes someone anyone can look up too. But when the interviewer took it that route, I believe she got offended and excluded. That's why she brought up the Latin community and basically said "well then I represent my community too!"
@Narly waves I think you need to relax. I do not need to be quiet because I'm stating my opinion. Can you state yours with some knowledge instead of coming off angry simply because of my opinion. I would like to know more accurately why do you believe that was not her place ? Please specify
@Narly waves I believe she did that as a compliment. She does represent all women not just black women. She represents women of color, young women, strong women, women who want to be in entertainment. It looks like yara didnt take it offensive so why should you?. And again, have some class and state your opinion without so much cussing. ( just my opinion) (:
I feel like she was complimenting Yara by saying that she has a bigger influence than just being an inspiration for black women yet all women. But I agree Gina should’ve kept her mouth shut.
Not gunna comment on this too much b/c we all know that was disrespectful, & I think yara, & black women in general deserve an APOLOGY from her. Just like the same way every black person has to apologize for any & everything we say. But secondly, HUGE PROPS TO THE INTERVIEWER! I like him. Professional without selling out

It’s important for all women to see positive representations of themselves in film and on t.v. It is especially important for Black women to receive that reinforcement. They have been mistreated more severely than any other demographic. That’s not up for debate.
I liked the way the interviewer looked her in the eye and doubled down on Black representation. Wasn't about to let Gina "All Lives Matter" his statement. Great job.
Idk when I first seen this video I didn’t see it as Gina trying to disregard black women representation. I know Yara is biracial so she represents multicultural and ALSO she way more than just an actress for black representation she was a teenage activist that everyone can learn and look up to. I think later Gina brought up Latina representation after the guy corrected her. I think she realize that what she trying to say was interpreted differently then what she intended. Cause while she was talking about Latino representation she made eye contact with both of them to show that she was in agreement with what he said about the importance of cultural representation.

She carries the same anti-black views as her community does
she doesnt praise afro latinx people neither
She's a typical mestizo bird. Black women make them types mad got some reason.

He still had to be professional so others would want to interview with him. I think he was excellent.
Love what the interviewer did. Very subtle.
"Yeah for women too but black women need that role model."
"I didnt see many [Latinos] represented in the media"
"Yeah I didnt see many black people in cartoons when I was little"
He kept putting the focus on the black community when she was trying to take it off and put it onto her community. The anti blackness is real.
Dang, Gina's tone, body language, facial expressions, gestures all changed towards the end of the video. 😞

Irony.
Most Latinos are anti- black because the Mexican media mostly features Latinos of Spanish/ European descent or that are light skin. Light skin is seen as ideal within our society. Gina needs to unlearn this bias, since she clearly has it.
@@rosas.5373 Maybe she is talkinv about her culture. Damn we really all can't get along in this country

I love how he corrected her. ♥️
2:08 He looked at Gina like, "Be quiet with your 'All lives' comment."
😂😂
It's interesting how Rodriguez tried to correct the interviewer when he asked Shahidi a Black-specific question by making it about "all women," but then talked about representing Latinas specifically. Not cool.
Props to the interviewer for staying focus and making his point
The culture needs him to do his job like we need that young woman to be the example to young girls.
Lmao please
Her whole tone changed after she was corrected.

I understand what Gina is saying as far as the fact that anyone can look up to Yara regardless of whatever ethnicity. I think that she was saying “she’s a good example period.” But I think the interviewer was going for the idea that it’s important to have positive black representation for the black community.
I like how you give a helpful perspective on the interviewer's intentions, and you still look for the good in Gina.
this was well said
Finally someone that makes sense and isn't blinded by the need to cancel others.

So...when Yara is asked questions regarding black women Gina says "all women" but it's ok to mention you inspiring the Latino community? Wow...tfoh.
Yara is so gorgeous. She even got her own Barbie doll, and it looks EXACTLY like her.😍
Latino/Hispanic is not a race it's a culture, a language 500 years old.
Gina: For all women
Also Gina: however, I want to be a reflection for our community, Latinos.
😒 girl bye
She’s one of those “all lives matter” folks. Good to know.
When is she gonna talk about the absence of dark Latinos on Latin TV?
Devil’s advocate: what if, when she said “all women”, she meant that Yara is an inspiration to all women not just the black community.
Mike Noir are you black?
@Mike Noir go away mike u don't get and you never will
As a BLACK Woman. He didnt make no mistake
Gina is a wolf in POC clothing, ew. She is cancelled
Damn people would have been really mad if it was me in the chair, cus we Iranians claim Yara too lol. She would make anyone proud.

I think Gina was trying to say that she shouldn't be a role model just because of her skin color but because shes someone anyone can look up too. But when the interviewer took it that route, I believe she got offended and excluded. That's why she brought up the Latin community and basically said "well then I represent my community too!"
She did the samething with Tessa another black actress in a interview. It’s one thing to do it once and another doing it twice.
