Still the most in depth and original pedal demos EVER!!!
Wow thank you!
Came for the Zoia stayed for the Mars Volta vibes! Hell yeah
LOL… same here
This thing looks absolutely insane. It’s perfect for sound design and having as many effects as you possibly can. A pedalboard in a box if you will. I can use this for bass, guitar, and my electronic set ups also. That’s a huge score.
Dude this rips so hard.
Thanks guys, your loops are a major source of inspiration 🙌 make my job wayyyy easier!
That opening was very Mars Volta and I am here for it
I'lllllll take that 👏 thanks bud!
Oh hell yes it is! Too bad they broke up. :(
I appreciate a lot of the videos showing off or demo'ing the zoia but this is the one that actually convinced me to put one on my 'to buy' list, because most of the demos I have seen are all tend to focus quite a lot of the more ethereal, ambient side of the pedal (which it does really well) but this demo reassured me that the device can pull off crunchy, dirty high gain stuff as well.
So great, as always @spiralcaster!
The clean ambient melody that come in with the fuzz riff behind is fucking brilliant
Perfect showcase of the amount of fun that can be had with the Zoia ✌
Exact video I have been looking for, thank you sir!
Incredible video about one of the most intriguing pedals IMHO.
man, your an absolute legend.
BRILL playing and composition...
Thank you for the kind words! 🙏
Best zoia demo out there 👏👏
Tasty work, my dude.
UA-cam's most musical demos, bar none.
Thank you my friend
That was so dope!
🙌❤️🙌
Most bands release poorer albums than this 8 minutes pedal demo. Amazing composition and performance.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
So, so happy for this demo. I got one of these from my boss as a bonus at work. This gives me a ton ideas to work with! Stellar as always. :)
Badass bonus! 🙌❤️🙌 ha
@@SpiralCasterPlaysPedals Man, your passage with the "Grotto" patch is mind-blowing. It's gorgeous. Can't wait for your album and eventual massive success. SO GOOD.
Your boss gave you a empress zoia as a bonus!? Where do you work and how do I apply lol
Man this shit is so fresh
Wow, you really inspired me to make a videos for bass / synth players, to show how Zoia sounds with them. I use my Zoia mostly on bass and it's really awesome too.
Really good demo and the drums (made with digitone ?) were really clean.
Great demonstration. Zoia is a unique pedal and seem to be irresistably drawn to it …..
Thanks! I agree...something about it is so alluring...
Epic!
🙌❤️🙌
Your videos always make me want to start a band just to ask you to join it!
ZOIA FOR LIFE! Also I would like to point out 2 places where people can go and join to learn and ask questions about ZOIA and hang with ZOIA people.

A post rock dream pedal. I wouldn't sell mine for the moon.
When it comes to pedals with this kind of processing power I’ve always been more in the camp of rather having a table top abelton push, or monome grid sequencer .. or even an organelle.. if only for the fact it’s more of a hands on kind of device and doesn’t belong on the floor.. I think you convinced me to look into it some more. I’m curious to see all the new patches the zoia community created
That’s awesome! The livelihood and talent of the community really took me by surprise!
Every mad scientist in the sonic(musical) field needs one of these in their laboratory....
Is the normal reaction to this video to buy the pedal? Because I totally just did…
Ah man that’s fantastic! Hope it brings you great inspiration 🙏
Hi! I am super interested in getting this pedal. Is there options to effect the attack of the input signal? I have been super interested in pedals like the HOG2 which can create that smooth synth tone, quite common in Kurt Rosenwinkel's playing. Does anyone know if a similar sound can be achieved with a Zoia?
Oh no...... Demos by Stefan and Collector/Emitter a couple of years ago had me close to buying this, but at the last minute I decided against it. You are now pushing me over the edge. Great demo, and a great encouragement to overcome the potential complexity of the pedal by using community patches. Why is my wallet twitching.......?
Community patches are key! Do itttttt haha. Thanks my friend- I always appreciate you watching and taking the time to reach out!
Great demo! That Pickguard: Is that custom made? looks great!
Thanks brother, and yeah I have them on all my guitars now- Indra Guitars custom makes them for me in the UK. Etched aluminum
Great demo!!! Have you had issues with latency? I see the CPU usage gets above 80%. Have you noticed any latency or delay when playing your guitar? Thanks!
you gotta tell me about that pickguard. i’ve been wanting something similar on my jag.
Indra Guitars! Look them up on Instagram, they do everything custom
Is there any realistic reason to own this without using a midi controller? Do you feel it's pretty much required to properly utilize? Speaking within a live use context
What are you using for the beats?
Yo how do you get your drums sounding so on point too tho lol
Sir Cohen, The SpiralCaster!
Very nice demo, as usual. Really inspire me to grab my guitar and create music, I can’t say enough about your creativity and natural talent man. I wonder what is your creative process. Those patches are really wonderful, but again, you have to know how to use them.
Because of your demos I was considering this Vs the Microcosm, I got the latter - just in time for my BD 2 days ago btw - and I don’t regret my decision,. Having said that your demo makes me think Zoia and Microcosm are far more similar than what I would anticipated. What are your thoughts on that?
Hey, first of all congrats on the Microcosm! Also a majorly creative pedal/tool. I think ZOIA and Microcosm are in the same league- but ZOIA being an open source design is something I find really fascinating. All of these sounds I found were made by people in this really tight community, and they’re all so carefully thought out and executed. I honestly had to tweak very little in each one to make something cool! The limitations are only drawn at how creative you as an individual can get with the sound you pick. There are also lotsssss of more approachable sound patches on there too.
But yeah also- I know Zoia and Microcosm would get along, they are both midi syncable!!
Thanks for watching, my friend- always enjoy hearing your thoughts and kind words 🙏
Thanks for the demo! For me personally the ZOIA is way too intimidating, but I'd love to play around with the existing user patches. Maybe Empress releases something like a ZOIA Mini in the future just to download what's already been created!?
I was really aiming to suppress some of that “intimidating” feeling with this demo to be honest! All I did was download some recent user patches and honestly barely tweaked them for each round. Programming is also not my thing, but the ZOIA doesn’t really have to be about that!
@@SpiralCasterPlaysPedals Exactly! ZOIA is a preset machine for those who want that and it's also a tweakers dream for those that love that or a mix of both. It's everything!
@@BrockDavisson well said 👏👏👏
@@SpiralCasterPlaysPedals You did a brilliant job presenting the patches in a musical context! And that’s exactly what made me think what I (as someone who couldn’t be bothered to program sounds myself) would want from this pedal! Without all those knobs and half the size it could work as a simple platform to load and select the user patches!
No... No! NOOOO!!! DONT MAKE BUY A ZOIA NOOOOOOOO
*persuasion powersssssss*
Sounds good...but totally ridiculous that it has no USB connection or software editor...and forces you to menu dive on that tiny screen to blindly locate parameters... A software editor was a no-brainer...
