The reason they started with the people outside is Prince decided he wanted to play THAT night,the promoters said no way you put tickets on sale and the show is in a few months,he said no put ticketson sale in the morning,people left work,school whatever and lined up for tickets they sold out in no time for a show that night,amazing
Samantha is the best!!! She always makes sure we all remember that Prince was amazing throughout his entire career. Prince was 12 when Hendrix passed away so no collab there. He did perform with Carlos Santana and Miles Davis. I’m guessing he got the guitar back 😂 I continue to enjoy your discovery of Prince and look forward to the next one 💜💜💜

Hendrix died in 1970, but Prince's earliest studio sessions ranged from '75 to '79 with the group 94 East and, of course, his debut album came out in '78. However, deep in the Prince rabbit hole you can find his covers of Hendrix songs: Red House (Purple House), Machine Gun, All Along The Watchtower (with the Foo's song, Best Of You, in the Super Bowl set!), Who Knows, Spanish Castle Magic (from the awesome 2009 Montreux show), and Villanova Junction Blues. Having said that, he never cared for the Hendrix comparisons despite being an amazing interpreter of the Hendrix songbook.
