Too bad too. When it was only Michael not working it had the stakes of making them more likely to be downsized. When they finally got a break from a lame job it was a special occasion like office olympics. Later on it was just anyone can do whatever they want all the time. Kind of fun, but absolutely no Stakes

@@XMysticHerox oh I had no problem doing the work. I had a problem stretching out the work. One of the companies I worked for had a tv right in front me. So I pretty much got paid to answer phones and watch tv. And the GM would take naps in his office when things were slow
That's every KID'S dream of a job. Like being a cat or a dog, just doing nothing all day. It is INCREDIBLY BORING to know that you are BETTER than... being paid to do nothing. If you don't enjoy your job? Sure.Not doing anything sounds like a dream. How does doing NOTHING at a job you DON'T want to be at make it better for you? I'd rather have 40+ things to do at work, because that keeps my eyes off the clock.
Instead of: "Ugh. One thirty. Now it's one thirty three. Now it's 2pm. Only three more hours to go! Now it's 2:45. What else can't I do?" Time goes by so much slower when you're focused on how much you don't want to be at work.
@@poutinedavid8937 I loved being at work. I loved doing what I do. I just hated the slow pace. I couldn’t take it. I did 2 weeks worth of stuff in one day. I started playing pranks but it did nothing bc it was so slow in the end it ran out of things to do. The warehouses caught on to the pranks. They started playing pranks on me. So we pretty much were paid to play pranks. For some people it’s okay but for me personally I couldn’t take it. I love being busy I love having challenged. On one of my pranks I crawled into my ceiling to drill a hole with a water balloon to make it seem that that the ceiling was dripping.

Jim and Dwight are the best salesmen in Scranton. Look at the clip in the video about Jim hitting the incentive cap. He barely does work in the series yet he's so good with it. Dwight is just Dwight.

Because Jim, Dwight, and Michael are actually insanely good salesmen. Seriously, Jim hit his commission cap - which NO ONE in the real world hits - and did it with WEEKS to spare. And the show makes repeatedly clear that Michael is even better, and that Dwight is at least as capable.
Plus Oscar and Angela are actually genuinely excellent bookkeepers (seriously, no one would have had an entire accounting team spend an entire day on a $5,000 accounting error in a business that probably ships hundreds of thousand of dollars of product _in one day_ ), and the shipping guys are repeatedly demonstrated to be incredibly efficient, even relative to the other branches.

I have had to deal with offices like that.
The DMV is well known for it's unmatched inefficiency in the US, but trust me, the international competition is fierce, any goverment institution in any southern european country would give them a run for their money...
Try to get a permit in Spain, register an adress in Greece, get a licence for anything in Italy......
Japanese offices are exactly like this. They dont care if you just sit there all day as long as you "work" which is just stay late and dont go home early they commend you lol. "Work" is so subjective.

I always wondered that. Having worked in sales, it's easy as hell to make the actual sale entirely yourself and then just fudge the clerical so someone else gets credit.
