Lovely weekend project, even better that you were able to recycle some trash! I'm also the resident crafter that everyone gives their relatives things to. I was just given someone's grandma's table top sewing machine. So now i have three...😂
Thank you for this idea! I have so many and they’re all tucked in a drawer. Time to come out and shine 😊
I have a very cute hedgehog pencil holder, that I use for my drop spindles. It has holes on its back, so the spindles are the spikes. I’m not describing it well, but it makes me smile!
Oh gosh, one of those spindles is not like the others 🙈 Thank you for including it in the video. I feel like it's not good enough to be amongst your antique or professional spindles, but that could be my anxiety talking 😅
Anyway, it's a very cute little shelf!
That's your anxiety talking, because all I see is cute colourful spindles 😁
i have my drop spindles in a deep tall wicker basket with a handle. mostly mine are homemade from me and my hubby. some are from chopsticks i got from a chinese eatery and i put some small round wheels on them from the craft store. some are long dowels and bigger wooden discs. some are made from dvd's and a dowel. my most beautiful ones are a couple of zebra wood and they are turkish spindles. one is a 3 d plastic drop spindle. i have none like yours friend. the supported spindle. i love them all so much. i think i need to paint the ones we made. i loved seeing u felt wool. the little shelf is darling too.
@@MijnWolden they are free at Chinese eateries friend. yes! i got a bag of wheels - 6 wheels cost me 99 cents. just stick the wheel on the chopstick. u have drop spindles. ♥🧶
I had many doubts about how the spinning wheel works but after watching your videos I got to learn more about spinning wheel and about spinning yarn
I also have a doubt that the drip spinner is easier to spin or the spinning wheel?
They're both different techniques. Quite a bit of spinners will advice you to learn on a spindle, so that you don't have to worry about treadling and can just focus on the drafting.
I bought a couple rotating paintbrush stands on Etsy for my spindles. I like the idea of the felt pad for protecting the tips! I thought you would put some sort of grid across where the rattan sides end. Depending on how tight your elastic is, you could create a section for each spindle just by twisting the elastic, or you could add several beads onto the elastic and slip a spindle between beads.
I thought about beads, but don't have beads with a broad enough opening yet...
Spray paint is difficult- I was sanding and painting old outdoor furniture this week. I got drips and even managed to spray the end of my hair (in a braid to keep it out of the way, fail). Your display rack look lovely!
I haven't seen your finished felt yet, but I bet experienced filters will think it is a nice little beginner project. I always say that if your first sweater is usable as a sweater, then you did a great job.
really pretty display rack :) I think the white paint makes the spindle pop more :)
Great job.
Super cool! Umm, I got a laser cut spindle display from the Spanish Peacock. Its decent, but now I have more spindles than will fit in it. I need to come up with a cool idea like your display 😁
Really nice! 🤩
I would have overcomplicated things by rigging individual loops onto the back horizontal support to hold each spindle. The elastic is much more efficient, because it doesn’t limit you to a fixed number of loops. More potential for extra spindles. 😊
I am still thinking of some kind of loops or something, because they do have a tendency to fall over when you look at them wrong
@@MijnWolden - Perhaps some thin elastic (the type that is covered in fabric/thread, aka ‘onderbroeken-elastiek’, also often used to make face masks in the high points of the pandemic. Also often used for smocking in sewing) could be slip-knotted around the top back rattan rod? Easy to add or remove as well. And… it comes in white. It’s quite thin and barely visible. Would that he an option?
I'm just jealous of all your spindles...
If you're in Europe: regenbogenwolle.de, but be careful, it's a dangerous place to peruse...
@@MijnWolden I'll peruse, but I'm in Aotearoa New Zealand, so.... a bit far...
I have yet to purchase a spindle... But I feel like I'm much too chaotic for a nice spindle stand T.T
This one turned out really cute! I really like the stormy sky colours of that little felted pad.
When the spindle chaos starts to get out of hand... and an opportunity gets thrown into your lap... then even my chaos can't say no to a spindle stand anymore haha
Haha my spindles are not presented at all. They just lay in a shelf and are jealous of your spindles now. But the spindles that will head your way from ladakh are excited to be appreciated.
Have a great day
Hi Jente, I hope you're OK xx ❣️❣️❣️❣️
Thankyou so much for sharing this video podcast.
I love your Rejuvenated Shelf. You did a wonderful job.
Your Support and In Hand Spindles look majestic in their New Display Stand.
I only have Drop Spindles and 1Support Spindle, which are all displayed in an old Nut Tin. Which suits them quite well.

Do you have any recommendations for sources on drafting on old spindles?
I have one without a hook, or a wheel, or a noch on the top, one of those that looks like just a sharf that's a little ticked near one end and I'm not sure what to do with it.
Either with a halfhitch knot, or could it possibly be support spindles that you spin in a bowl?
To stop the domino effect, you could stitch lines between the spindles to tighten up the elastic. Looks great!
I was going to suggest the same thing.
I could indeed. Was thinking of glueing some big beads to the back rod to stop them there as well
