  • Hitting the streets of Florence with the GFX 50S Mark II.
    After the first impressions video, time for a more hands-on review now. So I'm taking the camera to the streets of my hometown Florence and put it to real test. Here's a mix of hyperlapse, POV, talking head, photo samples...
    Fujifilm approached me a few months ago to ask if I wanted to test the GFX 50S II while still in development... I had the camera for a month so I'll be releasing a lot of content. Make sure you subscribe to not miss anything!
    The Fujifilm GFX 50S II is the latest addition to the GFX Medium Format family and is a rework of a previous model. The sensor is the same but the body is the one that made its appearance with the GFX 100S. Something that is incredibly compact and light.
    I also had the new kit lens that will be sold with it, the GF 35-70mm F4.5-5.6 WR and here I show some photos taken with it, as well as the GF 50mm F3.5 R LM WR and the GF 110mm F2 R LM WR.
    Paired with the GFX 50S II, these may be the perfect lenses to travel with. Even just the kit lens will be fine in the vast majority of scenarios.
    Here again I talk about the experience of shooting with the GFX 50S II and show lots of photo samples. More content will follow soon!
    Thanks Fujifilm UK for the opportunity.
    And subscribe and come back often for all the content!
    Cheers!
    Huge thanks to my friend Stefano Trojani for the extra video footage :)

      @@fabienb Wow, that didn't even occur to me. But I'm not sure I want to see how much better medium format is because then I'll want to buy it!

      The good thing about renting GFX for a job is that you can charge your client ;) But yeah, if you never shot medium format before the results are quite shocking (in the best way).
      Side note: if you intend to shoot video, your only option will be the GFX 100S. All the 50 and the old 100 can't really be considered

    Hi! which camera did you end up buying?
    Thank you for the review.

    • @fabienb
      @fabienb  6 місяців тому

      I still own the X-T4. I didn't upgrade to the X-T5 because I prefer the flip screen and I didn't buy the GFX because I only need it for specific jobs and therefore prefer to rent it and charge clients for it 😊
      If I were to buy a GFX it would be the 100S, and probably wait for the 100S II. But the 50S II comes close second.
      Thanks!

    how did you make this timelapse ?

    • @fabienb
      @fabienb  Рік тому

      This one was actually simple because I left everything in Auto. I was taking photos with another camera and didn't want to be distracted by the timelapse. In fact, it's not my best and some lights are burned. But it served the purpose :)

    On my gfx 50sii when I turn the camera off the top screen led stays on? Doesn’t seem right.

    • @fabienb
      @fabienb  Рік тому +1

      It is designed this way. The power drain is actually very minimal, particularly with the new battery of the 100S and 50S II. It's a feature that now exists on many devices, like phones or smartwatches. E-book readers show the cover of the current book you are reading.
      I suppose it would be a better user experience to give the option to turn it off.

    Help me: is it normal for the GFX 50s ii box to take 3 seconds to record a photo before taking the next photo? 😭

    • @fabienb
      @fabienb  8 місяців тому

      Hey Alvin. I'm sorry to hear you are not having a great experience with the GFX50S II. I would say this is not normal, and it never occurred to me. But based on my knowledge of Fujifilm cameras, there may be good reasons why this is happening.
      The first one is obvious, it could be that the self timer is left on. Normally, the self timer tells the camera to wait 2 or 10 seconds before shooting, so you can get into position for the selfie or maybe you have the camera on a tripod and want to avoid shakes when pressing the shutter.
      The second one, is the Long Exposure Noise Reduction setting. This is often on by default in Fujifilm cameras. While useful, it takes the camera twice the time to save a photo because the internal software needs to apply the noise reduction after the shot.
      A third reason is the Clarity setting. Unfortunately, this requires a lot of processing power and therefore slows down the saving of a photo.
      The last reason I can think of, off the top of my head, is the memory card. Because of the larger files produced by GFX cameras, it is recommended to use UHS-II cards, which are more expensive but way faster in terms of Gb/s. It shouldn't matter much if you only shoot one photo at a time, but for bursts, CL, CH and videos, this may make quite a difference.
      Hope this helps and that you will be able to solve the issue.
