    "The Function will describe the Form." Study and memorize the function and it will give you the form.

      @@peaceuponyou4433 yes that is the right idea. If you understand what the purpose (function) of what you are drawing (form), then you will be able to depict drawings with accuracy instead of guessing where things go or assuming their shape, form, and shading. It is imperative to learn what you are drawing to draw it well.

      My writing professor used to say this all the time! "Form follows function." A bit easier to say. In that context it meant that if you you figure out what the core purpose and goals of your writing project are, your writing style and structure will fill in naturally. That's much like learning to draw human portraits by studying real life skulls!

    This is really fascinating, going bone by bone, then bringing all together. Is this something specific to the Russian method? I would love to learn more about the difference between teaching methods

    • @NewMastersAcademyorgNMA

      Andre Ben in the Repin Academy students focused on the skull for an entire year and had to learn to draw the individual bones from memory. 😳

      5:AM we use a custom viewer that we built years ago called the NMA 3D viewer. It’s currently in the process of being refactored by our development team so in the mean time we are using sketchfab for the 3d content on this course. Once the new viewer is released we will swap out the models

    searching for instruction on skull anatomy for artists, by happenstance I came upon this UA-cam episode with Iliya Mirochnik, and went to the NMA homepage because his lecture sounded like he had given a previous one as an intro to what I watched. But the NMA homepage asked me for my email address so I can access their program catalogue: what school asks for the private information, of a "walk-in" who's not even a student yet and makes him/her agree on their (NMA's) privacy policy? NO THANKS. If this is the 'best' online academy, I guess I have to settle for the lesser ones.

    • @NewMastersAcademyorgNMA
      @NewMastersAcademyorgNMA  4 роки тому +1

      Vikas Sehgal they are different approaches so it depends on which style you prefer. The Russian approach is constructive (more 3d) but it requires more knowledge of anatomy and structure whereas sight size drawing course is mainly optical but the drawings take longer and it requires a specialized setup. You don’t have to choose. With your subscription you can learn both and see what works best for you. 🙏🏼
