- Took a couple of days off to railfan Amtrak in Connectict east of New Haven. First stop was New London near the Shaw's Cove Bridge. First train was an Amtrak regional being pulled by AEM-7 917. Next train through was an Acela Express with engines 2013 and 2012. We also caught a Providence and Worcester freight with 3903 (B-39 ex LMX), 3007 (B30-7A cabless unit Ex B&N) and trailing the train was 4004 (B-40-8 ex NYS&W).
It's not as busy as further east along the line. No Metro North trains, just some of the Shore Line East trains and Amtrak. Not sure if we got lucky with the Providence and Worcester freight. You're probably good for at least 4 trains an hour with Amtrak. It's such a peaceful setting and with the river traffic it goes by fast.
This seems like a BEAUTIFUL railfanning spot. How many trains on average would you say come through here? Freight and passenger.
No freights really and a lot of passengers
Great job!
Cool Vid!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, that should have been further west along the line not east.
