I love how this episode actually has the arc of a zombie apocalypse movie:
- Main character is forced into caring for someone they don't like
- Main character sees signs of a zombie apocalypse but escapes
- Main character has a sudden realisation about the nature of the threat, realising it's much bigger than he realised
- Survivors group together but are picked off one by one until the stronghold collapses
- Main character hides out at a low point
- In a completion of their growth, main character returns to ensure the safety of their ward and in doing so finds safety
and someone is suspected of infection but cleared (cleo's drowning)

Task idea: Go into your language setting and switch it to the pirate option. You now must refer to everything as it’s pirate name for the rest of the session. If you want to go the extra mile, then you could also come up with pirate names for the other players to be referred to as.

Gotta love how this followed the actual basic zombie apocalypse premise:
Day starts off normal
Protagonist witnesses something odd, later talks with other people and finds out what’s going on
Rallies with other survivors
Zombies storm their base
Group separates and a lot of them die
Don’t forget about the windchester reference
The worst part is there were many people with the cure, and they didn't even try it.

Grian getting a magma cube as a pet might have been the best thing to happen, since it basically has multiple lives.
Too bad the one he saw first despawned, and the new one he declared died, and one of the remains of it died as well. He never took the surviving part for a walk or fed it, so it's a fail.

The funny thing is that they all forgot about Scott when teaming up but joel is like "Scott can fend himself can he?" While the others are chit chatting and Scott is like stressing out all alone 😂😂 He says "I SWEAR TO GOD IF ONE OF YOU HAVE THORNS ON, IM GONNA FLIP MY SUGAR!!' Which means that he probbaly has stressed too much 😂😂

Honestly the combo of mama Cleo and papa Etho taking in an overseas student Grian after their own childern left the house. Is an unexpected, yet welcomed lore development.
I can't unsee this now... And it's even better if you think that they got back together after the kids left because the sheer chaos bdubs and scar bring together drive them both mad.

Hence the pyromaniac and Chaotic Tendencies.
Bdubs and Scar have gone away for college, while Grian attends college in the same town as Aunt Cleo and Uncle Etho.

How come you guys don't do the "end of session wrap ups" anymore? Was so funny hearing people react to what others tasks were, one of the best parts of the videos ^__^
I'm actually glad they don't do that anymore. I like being able to watch other peoples' videos without already knowing what their task is because of the wrap up from another video.

Thinking on it... Grian technically big brained the system. Magma Blocks and Slimes split off into smaller parts when 'killed'. Meaning: All smaller parts need to die for the mob to truly be dead.

The fact Grian was able to figure out what they’re doing so fast though is amazing though. I never would have even thought twice about ppl from different alliances hanging out but he picked up on it immediately, rallied survivors, and made it to the end. Amazing
Joel also figured it out before Pearl even died and also picked up on the fact it was a boogeyman thing.
Honestly, Grian's ability to figure out others' tasks over the course of the series has been very impressive. It's a shame he didn't have a chance to guess any tasks while there were still greens.
@@Door227 joel had the added context of hearing gem herself say something to bdubs about being a boogeyman. which is lucky, because it was the combination of joel's context and grian's suspicion that allowed the survivors to unite before it was too late.

Gem's task gives off huge "We underestimated how survivable this series was" vibes.
completing a task is too easy, and nobody would lose 10 hearts in one session if they are careful
same with the warden/wither tasks last session. I don't blame them though, keeps it fun!
Honestly, true. You gain hearts for succeeding but don't lose anything unless you re-roll and fail the hard task, how many times has someone re-rolled and failed the hard task? That shows how much it's not just the heart regeneration that was the problem, failing a task and receiving no punishment is also a problem. Then there's factoring in gifting a heart, which can keep a player in the game for another session. As much as I want this series to go on for another 3 episodes, it's not the tasks that should be made harder, it's the game design that needs to be fixed.
These may all sound like complaints, but I'm generally curious about what would the players do if x or y was taken away? How would they make fun content if they couldn't gift hearts, or failing a task took 10 hearts, but re-rolling and failing a hard task took 20? Or you couldn't go to the end/nether/deep dark, and hostile mobs took 5 hearts?
The series would have been over in 3-5 episodes lol💀💀

Skizz unknowingly offering up the correct answer to stopping the spread was a great moment of dramatic irony. The most recently killed player must be actively involved in the next kill.

that doesn't stop the spread though? Etho would become red and still be part of the boogeymen, and he could still be involved in the next kill. that would only work if they managed to outright eliminate him from the game (which Grian and Cleo certainly wouldn't agree to do)

Task idea: Convince someone to trade tasks. If they agree, whatever their task is becomes yours and they get this one. You can tell them that you’re allowed to trade tasks, but nothing more. They cannot tell you what their task is either, it’s a gamble for both parties involved. If you successfully trade this task away, you cannot tell anyone else anything about this task or else you fail your new task immediately. If you have this task by session over, you fail. If you end up with a task that wasn’t originally yours, do not press success or fail until session over because someone else has your book.

That makes no sense. In the task you've outlined the first player can not win by any means
@@TimLevi They can win they just need to wait for the end of the session to press the button as it'll remove the book which is being traded around. I think the original player succeeds once they complete the new traded task.

Let’s say Joel gets this task, he’s have to trade the task with someone else, if he traded with Grian he’d get whatever task Grian was doing and if he completed that one, he’d be able to click succeed, but he’d have to wait until session over to press succeed because otherwise it would take the book away from Grian. The same goes for anyone else involved in a trade, they have to wait til session over to either press succeed or fail because otherwise someone else will lose their book, the only person that cannot succeed is whoever ends up with the trading task by the end and fails to trade it away.

-Make 3 references (in conversation) to another season of the life series. (aha, bad boys, etc)
-Make a secret basement in Bdub’s base and live there for an entire episode
-Get 3 people to be scared of a trap that isnt there
Task idea: Spread a rumor about another player. You succeed if the rumor is said by someone back to you

The 8th session might be the last session since a lot of them a red. My task ideas for them are to recreate traps from past series to end it all.

I love Grain’s slow sudden realisation that something was not right and the moment it hit him it was basically a zombie apocalypse, he rallied everyone still alive together

I feel like the Red name tasks might have ultimately been the reason they had to do this zombie apocalypse thing. Most red tasks involve dealing 5-10 hearts of damage at most and only once at a time which completely halted their killing power, they were just too limited by their tasks to keep the pace of the previous seasons.
Reds basically have staying power, though. If they stay on top of their tasks, they have the highest heart regen ability out of all. If martyn completes 4 tasks in a session, that's 20 hearts he's recovering. Those tasks are going to be much harder to complete with a red standstill next session.
I don't know if any other episode of the life series has made me tense up so much. Wow, what an episode.

Grian asking whether or not tiny magma cubes hurt, then cutting to a clip where he has three hearts is hilarious.
It cause he started the session missing 3 hearts but leaving the end resets hearts, so he had to set it back
He had 27 hearts then went into the end and theres a glitch where the hearts go back to 30 after returning from the end so he manually took those 3 hearts away

This is probably the best episode the life series has seen for a long time, it was like watching a movie. The apocalypse was crazy! And Grian surviving to the end like the Chad he is was fantastic! Great vid as always!

Game developers actually have to take that into account when making their games. So it's actually a great hide-and-seek strategy to climb high up in video games, as Grian proved in this video.
Secret Taks Suggestion:
You must hit every red name with a sword. The hit does not count if they use their sheild. You fail if you die or are unable to hit every red on the server.

Task Idea: "Curse of the Ghosts" You have now been possessed by the ghost of one of life series members who have permanantly died (Jimmy, Mumbo, or Lizzie). Task idea: Every time someone agrees with you then you must immediately start acting paranoid that something bad is about to happen, this condition ends the next time someone agrees with you.
The fact that just watching the zombie apocalypse and Grian trying not get infected makes me nervous 💀💀

i have a hard time seeing grian as the MC considering he barely showed up in any other person's video 😂 he was so scared of dying he forgot to make content

Grian’s “Spawn an Enderman” strategy would’ve actually worked well, seeing as Gem was staring right at it. If Etho hadn’t stared at it (he was warned by Grian), Gem could’ve been killed due to her low hearts. I have a feeling it will be used more in the future.

Not really. He wasn’t in plan sight at all. He was very hidden and could only ever be seen on the if chance that someone looked up at the same time he was leaving and at the right angle

Whoever made this task, was a genius. This was a great way to thin out the crowd and make people lose some lives and hearts without it feeling too forced
While I agree this task was very fun, I didn't like the "override" mechanic it made most other tasks in the session irrelevant. They could have just said "Help as much as you can"
actully the orginal task that someone commented was to leash a chicken and carry it with yourself throughout the session.
I think this outcome was for the Warden vs Wither too, but some how instead of taking out greens, it took out reds, so they came up with a task much more agressive. This session was super fun to watch

I like this task for how it changed the entire genre of the episode. Secret life is so versatile and this is kind of why. Secret life is quickly becoming my favorite because every episode feels so unique and memorable
this session genuinely felt like a zombie apocalypse movie. people were dropping like flies, the humans (and cleo) banding together and still being picked off one by one, the reconnaissance mission where the zombies all ran right past grian and skizz, and the coward surviving. definitely my favorite episode so far !!
If i had i nickel for every time in secret life a group got named with part specifying one member i’d have two nickels which isn’t alot but its weird that it happened twice.

Hard task idea:
Make a suicide pact with any other player. If there is any redstone involved the other player must know what will happen and activate it themselves. For any other way to die you must lead the way and hope they follow.
When you and your companion dies of the result of this pact, you get 1 live back or get revived from the permanent death and succeed this task.
I love how Grian having to keep a magma cube as a pet is both a blessing and a curse.
Ya know:
You call it "the cowards way" yet you ended the session back on 30 hearts. That's more than most can say. So I'd say, above all else, it was the smart way.
Also, you successfully hiding from Gem's hunting party made it quite the gripping episode in my opinion. While I knew you'd survive having seen other peoples POV before, I still thoroughly enjoyed finding out how you did it.
this has made me want a life series that has a different apocalypse each session, and they have half the episode to prepare and survive the rest. like zombies, lava rising, a tsunami, earthquake, gravity shifting, wildfire etc...
I love how Grian cares for Ethos Dishwasher by throwing steak at the iron bars
