I’m considering upgrading from my Windows laptop to a MacBook Air M2 for learning new skills from online platform & UA-cam, and some office minimal Excel work. I noticed the MacBook Air M3 is only about 12,000-16,000 INR more expensive in the UAE. Would you recommend the M2 or the M3 for these tasks? And how’s the transition from Windows to macOS for someone who’s used Windows for years? Also, I’m concerned about storage for long-term use-does macOS updates consume significant space over time, and will 256GB be enough for the next few years?
256GB is going to be enough, but I think you should buy M3 as you can get it for around 95k with student and card discount. It now comes with 16gb ram in base model so, much better deal than M2 macbook.

@muzammildawre go to official apple website, 16gb base models are available of apple India website for 114900 and then you get offers after that.

What field are you studying?
For engineering buy windows laptop, for doctor, MBA and all other fields that dont require any specialised softwares you can go for Macbook.

you should try to sell lenovo on OLX you will gest better value than exchange , and buy macbook M3 16 GB 256GB from apple store, it is 1.15 lakh and after student discount you can get it under 1 lakh.

Yes you can edit videos in the 8gb ram model as well.

Those extra 2 cores will literally make no difference for daily tasks. It is just over head performance which reduces a little export time, gives a few extra frames etc. you will still be able to use the macbook to its full portential.
This is good for video editing software like Premier pro?
Yes it is powerful enough for video editing. And even with 8gb ram you can do video editing smoothly. Only thing is it will take more time to export than 16gb version.

You can easily edit videos in 8gb version also, only the exports will take little longer. So if you are on a budget 8gb ram is fine.

@Ph0eni6_ Most retailers provide discounts but they all provide different discounts. I personally went to 4-5 stores for best deals. You might find different discounts even in two reliance stores. But you should negotiate well with them. Convince them that you will buy immediately if they provide the best deal and so on.

Yes, you will be surprised how powerful such a slim MacBook can be, only reason to get windows laptop is if you want to do gaming.

EVERY ONE IS TALKING ABOUT BATTERY BACKUP ..HOW TO DO SO OR THAT ... BUT NO BODY IS CONSIDERING ITS COMPATIBILITY WITH PRINTERS. SINCE THERE ARE MANY PRINTERS WHICH CAN BE CONNECTED WITH MACOS BUT THERE IS LIMITED CONNECTIVITY LIKE ABOUT 99% OF PRINTERS ARE NOT CONFIGURABLE WITH MACOS REGARDING THEIR SETTINGS OF PRINTING LIKE TO PRINT DARK OR PRINT IN ECONOMY ETC. I AM MENTIONING PRINTERS WHICH ARE NOT OLD . LASERJET MFP M438NDA, EPSON L565 ETC. SO MAC IS GOOD TILL IT IS TO DESIGN PHOTO VIDEO ETC BUT NOT FOR OFFICE WORK. ONE HAS TO FOLLOW MANY PROCESS TO GET A SIMPLE OUTPUT. IF ONE WANTS TO PRINT WORD FILE OR ANY OTHER FILE AS IMAGE THEN THERE IS NOT A SINGLE WAY.
