Great coincidence! I've been shopping around for an affordable analog/digital watch with useful functionality. I'm a big Citizen fan but I think their current offerings, ProMaster, are full of watches with busy dials and "slide rule" type bezels that are interesting but aren't useful to me. The watches look cool but I need substance. The Pro Trek looks like a good value. 👍✌
Great review. I just received the PRW 6000Y-1a and the PRW 6900YL-5. Love them both (hard to decide which one to wear, but the 6000Y usually wins). With any luck I will have a pre-own PRW6600Y-1A9. Wish me luck.
I have the std version of this watch (black/orange) and I love it. A wear it on a barton canvas strap sometimes and its like its not even there. Also I put a gorilla glass screen protector on it and its been great for protecting the crystal from scratches for like 5 bucks. Can't go wrong.
This is my favorite Protrek. Its a great outdoors watch with a ton of features, but casual enough that you could wear it at work. Plus the versatility of strap changes.
Very nice watch.The only negative is that the Altimeter readings depend on the barometric pressure readings. As a result usually the altimeter readings are completely wrong. For example, whenever there is a change on the barometric pressure, despite the fact that you are in the same place, the Altimeter readings change..

So this has same movement and functions as some of the mudmaster models out there…. Nice color combo and design I been looking these ones but think I like the bigger size mudmaster version of this watch
Thanks for the comment. There is a Stainless Steel version with a positive display, but doesn't look the same. Fonts are different, and something about this black case that fits so well. Look up PRG-600-1CR.

2 totally different watches. G-Shocks and Protreks are marketed and made for different audiences. Many people that enjoy Protreks also enjoy G-Shocks, but the water resistance, technology, looks, durability make them so different. I really enjoy both.
It's a lovely watch but its a pity that the 10 o' clock on the watch face is partly missing, the PRG 650 version has the 6 o' clock partly missing, I must have OCD because that would annoy me so much that I would avoid buying it.
Instead of taking the watch off and wafting for it to cool down if you have access to the temp in your current environment and set the temp to that on your wrist. I learned this years ago on an older Pro Trek

so i have a Fenix 6x, but im a frequent tropical jungle offroader so need some cool ABC watch that can be a beater too. and just in case my Fenix ever dies. and oh, GShocks r not on my list, they keep interfering, knocking everywhere due to bulky design. seems this is good.

Damn no sunrise or sunset? I got a couple of protreks including the none atomic version of this watch the 650 Safari which dosen't have it either. I have sunrise sunset on an all digital Protrek and its a great faeture I wish was on these higher end Protreks.
anybody has any comments on the toughness of the watch? can it bear cycling, hiking, bushcraft (so generally vibration and slight knocks and bumbs)? i'd buy gshocks but i like the protrek design but i'm not sure how careful should i be with this watch. i'm not hard on watches but i'm used to the carelessness offered by gshocks.
@@DougFNJ Well, every time you return to home screen, after cycling through modes, on the left side of the LCD "H", "M" or "L" is displayed to roughly indicate battery load.
You want to find out the major metropolitan area the Timezone Texas is in and set for that timezone. They couldn't put all states or it would take forever to scroll through.
They aren't g-shocks, but they are durable. The steel bezel should hold up well, and mineral crystal can scratch easier, but don't break easily. Ive had one pro trek on many camping and hiking trips for over 10 years and its held up great!

Sorry for the delay. Pull the crown out, and cycle through the settings using the bottom left button until you get to the date setting. Rotate the crown to change the month day and date. @@benjaminmends9591 Thats one of the huge advantages, they are updating often, listening to feedback, and just the fact that you CAN update now is a big deal.
It's a shame they cut off the 10 hour number on the face. Since they did not have room, they should have just placed hour markings instead of the numbers. This looks unprofessional, unplanned. Otherwise, I would rate higher and would have considered to buy.
People buy high-end dive watches and only get them wet when they wash their hands. If we only bought watches for simple time display we'd only need a $15 quartz from Walmart. Same thing with all the SUVs that never see a dirt road. We often buy stuff that's more than we need.
Why do You describe a boring card box in detail when it's shown to everyone on screen? 2 minutes useless fluff before one can see the actual watch!! Seems nothing of the functionality has changed since I bought my Pro Trek 4 years ago. No reason to buy a 'new' one.

That’s the only pain about these ABC watches. They can be calibrated on the fly at least.

Excellent watch, this one has a dark negative lcd display hard to see with weaker eyes, is there with positive lcd display one out there too?

I just got this watch but the barro graph is not visible all it shows is one dot is this normal ? Or is this sensor faulty

It's the altitude differential that toggles the readings to either 100 meter or 1000 meter ranges.

It's funny, that's a hit or miss with people. I like that for some reason, many unknown hate it.

Tried it tonight, I thought World Time mode would do it, but there doesn't appear to be a way to do that.

You should have no problem, it's made for outdoor activities. The 6600 is great as it doesn't look as outdoorsy as many of the other ProTreks

The prx 6xx series is much better than the prx 66xx series. So much more thought through and bang for the buck.
This one is simpler, I really like the more casual wear vs the campier outdoorsy look in the others.
PRG-6xx is missing waveceptor. I don’t think the layout is any different?

Its something I've seen on a number of Chrono from different makers....its a love hate thing.
Cool technology, but I'd never use any of it.
