Improvisation is not just a technique for Grammy nominated artist Cyrille Aimée, it’s a way of life. The acclaimed vocalist ventured from singing on street corners in Europe to dazzling audiences at the world’s most prestigious jazz festivals; from sneaking out to sing in gypsy encampments in her native France to acting on Broadway; from braving the notoriously tough audiences at New York’s Apollo Theatre to being called a “rising star in the galaxy of jazz singers” by The New York Times.
Among countless accolades, Aimée won the Montreux Jazz Festival Vocal Competition and the Sarah Vaughn International Jazz Vocal Competition. As an actress, Aimée co-starred with Bernadette Peters in a Stephen Sondheim tribute at New York’s City Center which inspired her to dig deeper into Sondheim's repertoire, resulting in her fourth and most recent album, Move On: A Sondheim Adventure. She’s shared her story via master classes, a TEDx talk, and a few addresses at the Conference on World Affairs.

Now that I searched a bit about Cyrille I know why she's reminding me of Annie Francheteau (Nungan). It's really sad mainstream French audience doesn't rcognize their talent.

She is great but you don't learn to scat. You either have it or you don't. She is ok at scatting...she needs to improve to get on a top level. She needs to watch more Sarah Vaughn.

I disagree. I think you can learn to scat. It's not like you're automatically born with a talent for scatting.

This is just plain wrong lmao. Vocalists and instrumentalists have to practice thousands and thousands of hours to get to this level. It has very little to do with talent, as most things music do. The greatest talent you can have is motivation and drive.

She's a very free spirit, she gives herself permission to 'be'. That's where pure creativity comes from
