I love how the bus sweeps when pulling a tight corner. The overhang buses are just an amazing concept. I especially like the buses with long overhang at the front and short overhang at the rear.
This might be my favorite POV video ever. I've always wondered what it was like in the driver seat, looking in the mirrors during a turn and seeing the second half of the bus. Great video!
So this was probably my second time ever driving one of these and it was still weird to see that in real life haha. I am glad I could capture some of that on camera!
@Lala-ew2hp the shape of the bus is basically universal so I'd say the safety is OK but for the same safety I don't get why they'd make the buses only half comfortable
I'm about to start with a company that runs these, they look awesome and so much fun to drive! I'm so excited, coming from driving trucks it'll be a bit of an adjustment but I'm so ready for the challenge!
Now this right here is unusual I've always wondered what a bendy bus is like to drive. If you ever have the chance I'd love to see some Nova LFS or the trusty ole Gillig Low Floor!
I’d say the 2018 Gillig models are my favorite in the DASH fleet, especially 501 and 502. But they have speced the new buses quite nicely, and even introduced digital interior displays on a few of them
I personally prefer driving a 60' artic vs 40' bus. The neat part about driving a 60' artic is that the articulated section is moved by a hydraulic piston so it's more like driving a 35' bus as your pivot point is the middle of the artic instead of the back wheels. We've been told that the rear wheels in an artic will never off track more than 6 inches from the middle and so far that's been the case from what I've seen. Only real risk to driving an artic is setting off the max angle sensor if you turn too sharply but I've been told that really only a risk on older models (2011 to 2014) or you are backing up.
At first, it's pretty strange. You just can't believe it turns better than a 40'. Then you try cutting a corner and it really is remarkable. After a few minutes, it's second nature.
Probably because some of the components are secured with bolts or screws that will loosen over time as the bus drives on bumpy roads. It's slightly noticeable in the video since the XE60 rattled a ton on surface streets, not so much on the expressway
It's not as impressive as you may think. The drive was under 10 miles, but also, the SOC readout is not very accurate and fluctuates greatly depending on the conditions.
Try again and actually watch before you make a fool out of yourself on the internet. The turn signals don't make noise and the flashing indicator is on either side of the speedometer.
Lots of new transit buses seem quite outdated compared to modern cars (analog gauges, keys, turn signals on the floor, etc.) It just isn’t as much of a priority for transit agencies to make the driver’s area modern when what exists works

First ever Xcelsior POV video, should do more!

Thing sounds like a train with how much it rattles 💥🔥
Sounds like an M7-A
It's a New Flyer, what did you expect?
Your bus driving videos are my white noise to help me sleep at night
Awesome video! Very happy to see you drive a New Flyer!
If there are any other Flyers, please do a video on them!
Glad you enjoyed! For sure, I will be driving more NFs.

Bro was hauling down that expressway 😭
😂
That's why it's called New FLYer. FLYING!
Well done driving with an XE60
Holy shit that thing is a rocket lmfaoooo. Blows the doors right off of my blue bird!
Oh wow! Very nice video! This is pretty nice for an electric bus!!
What?? It sounds like it's about to snap in half and fall apart lmao, the drivers area also looks ancient
@Lala-ew2hp the shape of the bus is basically universal so I'd say the safety is OK but for the same safety I don't get why they'd make the buses only half comfortable
first Xcelsior pov and first artic POV on youtube.. atleast outta North America. nice vid bro

14:54 whippin that Xcelsior. Nice work!
I'm glad to see that Alexandria Transit finally went back to it's own buses.
Give me a few weeks and I’ll let you have your way with another New Flyer product (My personal ex-SEPTA D40LF)
Count me in, brother

you can drive articulated buses to?? nice nice now that's awesome that's a skill right there get em Eugene!!!!!!!
Wow you work with dash now 🔥🔥 this finna be awesome
Low key I've been with them for two years now 🤣. I'll be taking buses more often from now on tho
@@eugew23 LOL foo had a bunch of ancient videos driving for UM
These are absolutely amazing, when I get a job for the STM (transport company for my city) I want to do this
hopefully you do It would amazing as a fellow montrealer !
@@novabusboy7331 thank you!
Phew you drove the more bouncier one, god bless you 😂😂😂 amazing video nevertheless! I would love to do this myself but you know lol
Definitely one of my favorite buses from dash. My favorite bus is 105
That's on my list to drive. That's a good bus!
I’d say the 2018 Gillig models are my favorite in the DASH fleet, especially 501 and 502. But they have speced the new buses quite nicely, and even introduced digital interior displays on a few of them
It looks so much harder to drive a 60 ft. compared to a 40 ft. 🤯
Only at first!

All fun and games till you clip the curb
I drive 60ft Novas for a living. Ours have an excellent turning radius. I drive them like its a toy now.
Hi colleague, we are also thinking of introducing electric buses, it was nice to see.
Excellent video, would love to drive one of these
First xcelsiors I seen to go pass 60mph
Wow u should definitely do more 👍
Have any more transit bus POV’s in the works? Would love to see a LFS drive, or an older New Flyer (LFR/LF).
Not at the moment, unfortunately, I don't work for any place that has either of those around - I may know a guy with an LF though... We'll see lol
Im confused about how old this bus is, outside it looks relativly new but inside it looks like 30 years old
I enjoyed this video... Any plans for any New Flyer from WMATA?
The turn signal sound sounds like an Actia
He pushin' that tic!
ive never seen a new flyer with keys
Just an ignition lockout for security!
Wow I was just thinking about you. You’re with DASH now and no longer with the University?
I work for both. DASH full time and UMD part time.
COTA recently has XE40s in addition to their existing CNG XN40s
can you a pov drive of a xd40?
What were your first thoughts on driving a 60 ft articulated bus? How did it feel driving as compared to the usual 40 ft buses?
its easier to drive then a regular 40ft
At first, it's pretty strange. You just can't believe it turns better than a 40'. Then you try cutting a corner and it really is remarkable. After a few minutes, it's second nature.
Are you still doing Shuttle-UM?
On the side, yeah. Got too many friends there to keep up with 😂
Whats your cam setup? Are you using a chest mounted GoPro?
I use a GoPro on my head. Hat clip mounts to the rim of a baseball cap, gets that perfect POV angle every time.
Is WMATA doing partnership with DASH?
No, I was just there trying out their overhead chargers for the day.
@@eugew23 Ah. How was it?
Range, power, specs?
My cousin javon works up there you probably know him lol
JJ? No way lmao
Yea we do cuzzo lol
Why not use trolley poles? BEV is a comical option for a fixed route service.
You should do Orion VII POV video
DASH don't have Orion VIIs.
@@dodge151517:37 are those Orion Vll's DASH buses or another transit agency bus?
@@Kipling45 Those were WMATA Metrobus Orion VIIs.
Does this company not sue the overhead charging pantograph thing? Not sure what to call it
Why does it rattle so much even if it's electric? Is it the suspension? Or just a lot of really loose objects every where?
The quieter the motor, the more rattles you hear. Low floor buses are typically more noisy regardless of whether they are diesel or electric.
We have these in Toronto, why do they rattle SO MUCH? Sounds super sketch, kinda afraid of them tbh.
Probably because some of the components are secured with bolts or screws that will loosen over time as the bus drives on bumpy roads.
It's slightly noticeable in the video since the XE60 rattled a ton on surface streets, not so much on the expressway
Why isn’t the steering wheel straight?
Are these governor to 65?
seems like SOC drop from 57% to 52%, how long was the route? the efficiency looks impressive
It's not as impressive as you may think. The drive was under 10 miles, but also, the SOC readout is not very accurate and fluctuates greatly depending on the conditions.
Do you work for a company and if not how do get different buses all the time?
The buses that are in my videos represent the agencies that I work for. If I'm driving a bus, I work for that company.
You should drive a XDE40
Ya'll Xcelsiors sound like they about to fall apart. 😂
is it actually in toronto though?
I never saw so many lane changes and turns without turn signals though. No excuse.
Try again and actually watch before you make a fool out of yourself on the internet. The turn signals don't make noise and the flashing indicator is on either side of the speedometer.
Ohhhhhh I’m jealous! And I don’t even like New Flyer!
I’m waiting til bro works for wmata
lmao ikr
@@eugew23if you do get hired are you gonna drive an train with pov?
I didn’t know dash was at shepherd parkway ?
I was there for a couple days in December just to play with your EV chargers lol
bussy gang
Why do American busses look so ancient on the inside?
Say what??? Your buses use keys?
Only for security measures. Ignition lockout.
Lots of new transit buses seem quite outdated compared to modern cars (analog gauges, keys, turn signals on the floor, etc.) It just isn’t as much of a priority for transit agencies to make the driver’s area modern when what exists works
What's Up Buddy
Hi Eugene hope it’s ok 👍🏾 4 too download ur video 4 playing on my bus simulator 21 it’s cool too watch keep up the great job.
Find a Nova LFS or a Proterra Catalyst
A Proterra drive is in the works.
