    In this video a sampling workflow using only the Push 2, without touching the mouse or the computer keyboard. It's a tutorial showing 3 different types of sampling with the Push 2:
    - making a drum kit with the Drum Rack;
    - chopping a musical phrase;
    - making an instrument with Simpler by sampling one note from a synth for the bass line.
    To illustrate the techniques better, I made a lo-fi beat (or is it just boom bap?)

    Would you actually call the beat "lo-fi"? These days it seems that everything that's slow and mellow-ish is called "lo-fi" 😅

      You make a good point! Haha! I still would probably call it lofi. There are no rules to music.

      @@audioexpeditionYT's sound quality is pretty good nowadays. Definitely not lo-fi and definitely useable for sampling, unless it's a really old upload from back in the day when the sound quality was bad.

    I just got a Push 2 today. The best transition I ever made. I love it more than my Maschine/Ableton setup

    • @LowHeatBeats
      @LowHeatBeats  3 роки тому

      Glad you enjoyed the video! I think the only way to chop to a drum rack is the method I showed for the drums. I don't think the Slice To Midi feature is available from the Push (not sure if this is what you meant).

  • @kamilgoj6269
    @kamilgoj6269 3 роки тому +5

    I think that the easier way to chop the drums is to throw the sample to simpler then set the Mode to chop by transients and convert it to drumrack using convert botton :)
    Great and helpful tutorials BTW 😉

      Not all material has clear transients (like pads/rhodes/chordy things), so this method or manual setting of markers is the way to go.

    Excellent video. Used it from start to end to sample some of my own stuff. One thing that is different on my Push is, I dont see the Voice parameter in the Global Simpler settings. You were using this to switch Simpler to mono voice. In my case I want the samples to be played in parallel. But I don't see the option to chose the number of voices. Couldn't figure that out. Does anyone know how this works?

    • @siberianfastfood

    • @LowHeatBeats

    @Low Heat Beatz, would you say that the Push 2 is as good as the Machine? I love the Ableton integration, but I think I had a faster workflow with jamming when I was using the Maschine back in the days..

    • @LowHeatBeats
      @LowHeatBeats  Рік тому

      You can check out some of my reviews and comparison videos for a longer explanation but I’d say that the hardware workflow on Maschine is indeed faster/better.

  • @magadan4626

    Hi. Immediately apologize for poor English.
    What do you think - is it possible to carry out with the help of Push2 the workflow as on SP404? Without using to the mouse?
    Or how on MPC?
    For example, use only one DRUMRACK. And don't use other tracks.
    I am trying to do this, but the problem is that the simpler device cannot sampling directly into itself.

    • @LowHeatBeats
      @LowHeatBeats  3 роки тому

      That’s a loaded question, not sure tbh. Why don’t you want to use other tracks but a single drum rack?

  • @fax7451

    Hi Low heat, I want to ask will you use maschine mk3 in ableton? or just use it only with maschine software? I use mk3 and ableton together and the workflow really killing me. Do you have any suggestions regarding this? Thank you for your reply!

    • @LowHeatBeats
      @LowHeatBeats  3 роки тому

      Nope, I never use the MK3 in Ableton exactly because "the workflow is killing me", so I see no point in doing it. It works but it doesn't feel like an instrument and slows me down, instead of helping me work easier.
      It can work for a live performance where you use only several specific parameters and trigger clips but for making beats, nope.

    Did you quantize the first sample?

    • @LowHeatBeats
      @LowHeatBeats  3 роки тому

      Nope, played it unquatized. I turned on warping in Simpler which stretches the chops to the tempo if my project, this helps them stay in sync.

    What’s the turntable app on the iPad called?

    • @LowHeatBeats
      @LowHeatBeats  2 роки тому +1

      It's not a turntable app, just a UA-cam video of the song playing on a turntable.

  • @Drrolfski
    @Drrolfski 3 роки тому

    So you're sampling from UA-cam compressed audio that is compressed again as you stream it into Ableton, right? Even for a "lofi' genre, isn't that just a bit too rubbish as a sound source for music production sampling?

    • @LowHeatBeats
      @LowHeatBeats  3 роки тому

      Not really, Ableton records it lossless but it's compressed again as I upload this video though 😀 I just use my ears and I think it sounds fine for the purpose that the sample is used in my beat and it's not even fully mixed or anything.
      Does the final beat sound rubbish to you?
      Mind you, drums and bass were not recorded from a compressed source.

    • @Drrolfski
      @Drrolfski 3 роки тому

      @@LowHeatBeats The moment you upload music to UA-cam it gets converted by UA-cam and compressed. When it then plays/streams that music - to be recorded into your DAW (lossless or not)- another compression takes place. This makes UA-cam as a source for sampling rather limited IMO but as a source for melodies in lofi-style productions, I guess you could get away with it.
