What I love about Jack's songs (and this style of songs) is that If you only read the lyrics, you are probably not going to find "The real meaning" of the song. The only way to get it, is to listen to it and feel it. The song means whatever you want. It's a death of the author kind of thing: whatever jack meant when he said "those aren't meant to bend" isn't important, what matters is that anyone can find the song relatable, and experience it in their own way. (Which is beautiful!) A song doesn't need "Deep lyrics" to cut deep, it just needs to mean something to whoever is listening.
All art is open to interpretation, but this song reminds me of raising children. "Those aren't meant to bend" you'd say to a kid. "Tears falling down at the party, saddest little baby in the room", kids cry at parties, are called babies. "A little gray hair for every scare you share", aging, how scary it is when they hurt themselves. "Negative attention, all about ascension", acting out, growing up and learning in school. I think those are some very strong comparisons.
@@sorryjustrich1049 it just gives the vibe that...something is wrong. just... *something* is off like something isn't right and is in a way it shouldn't be.

my 13 year old senior cat recently passed away from lung cancer that had spread completely throughout her body. she couldn't feel her legs, causing her to bite at them and cause major damage and stress that pushed her over the edge. the symptoms for this were very hard to catch, causing this to go undiagnosed until a week before her passing. the doctor had to put her to sleep after rushing her to the emergency room, as they did not expect her to come home with us that night. we did not want her to suffer longer than she had already. this song constantly played in my head during this ordeal that spanned days. she's been cremated and is back safe in our home, though in another form of ash. this song carries such a pained emotion to me. and even though i still can't listen to it again just yet, i applaud your ability to bring these kinds of emotions through song. all of your work is wonderful, and i hope you continue on.
F, im sorry for you, I hope you can get past this. Losing a pet takes a while to get over, just two years ago I lost my 8 year old dog to Leukemia. I hope you can get through this. You need to be strong, this will be a burden for a long time, trust me, but you can get over it, you just need time. Take care.
I think this song is about a couple. It's being told by one person's perspective in how their significant other is depressed or going through something, but covering it up by partying and doing fun activities. Everyone around them thinks they are fine but the other knows what's really happening (hence the lyrics: I can't be the only one that hears you) This song makes me cry everytime. What do you think the meaning is? Edit It's been 2 years now and Jack stauber is still one of my favorite artists, :') I cant believe my synopsis on this song blew up. Except my perception of this song has entirely changed as I've listened more.. I feel like this song is about much darker things than what I described 2 years ago. (Maybe it's because I've suffered through my own traumas and I'm projecting-) but yeah, thank you for all the replies
its reminds me of an emotionally unstable mother who was neglected from her family, who tried to break the chain of abuse with three beautiful children half fathered by an alcoholic; the middle child finds artistic and nostalgic creativity from this.

If you squint hard enough, this can be about making peace with a disturbed childhood, listening to and comforting an inner child. ascending beyond the hurt. your child self's limits and boundaries were not meant to bend, but they were bypassed and pushed all the time. you weren't meant to bend, but you did, because things were hard and awful. And, of course, others didn't see it, and still don't see the pain - even though it's so strong it feels like you can't be the only one to hear your own cries.
I do love the feeling that you can interpret the song in any way, I overthink things a lot and I'm a horror fan so I went immediately to thinking "the narrator is the thing but noticed the distress of one person" at least that's the feeling I just get after thinking about how it feels since it just gives you feeling of an eerie helplessness but you can't help but feel watched and can't help the feeling of being thought about by something you know nothing about. It's such a great song for the raw fear it can instill in such a melody.
Everyone says that the song is scary and terrifying, it represents too many people with depression, meanwhile the best work of jack good among the other best and incredible works, printed posters, bought his music, bought all his merchandise from his store is my best singer is a song that represents me, I have depression and this helps me reflect.
This song makes me think of someone going through pain or depression and they tell said person and let it out to them but they don't know how it affects the person and this is the person's perspective of the confusion of why no one will else will help the depressed friend other than them which of course puts stress on the person while the depressed friend gets better but the stress of always protecting and having no one to talk to themselves breaks themand results in a bad power exchange
It's 2:00 am right now and this song perfectly fits my mood. Staring at the dark ceiling letting my imagination do whatever it wants. Then mouthing the lyrics to my favorite part of the song.
This song makes me think of a short story where a young girl dies from rape behind a house at a party, and this guy finds her body. He becomes haunted by the image of her, and as he ages he builds her up more and more as a living person in his head. Wishing he could've done something to save her.
this song makes me really nostalgic for 2021 when i was super obsessed with jack's music. i actually heard this while trick or treating once, and i was so happy i could explode. i do miss that, but i feel like im a more developed person than 2021 me, and i take comfort in that :)
12/16/1984 Dear Lora, I still can comprehend what I witnessed that night, as I speak it is still dwelling in the back of my subconscious. I don't know how it happened, everything was going fine until "He" arrived. It started out innocent enough, the two bickering but then, then things went south. I don't know if it was the liquor or his mental state, but if the autopsy photos tell us anything its that she had seen something that was now intended for her eyes. I later realised that the man was Henry Roswell the leader, or "The Oculus" as they referred to him as. He had devised a cult twenty years back, and that women was there "offering to the outer dimensions". How could they do such a thing. Anyway, there she was, trembling on the ground muttering "Oh Klahoma, Oh Klahoma, Oh Klahoma". If you need me I am down by the coast side, off of Martey and Zetican St. I just need to clear my head. Your loving husband, Kenny
I always though this song was about a shy high school boy going to a party and having a panic attack attack at the party. The party is really overwhelming and he just wished to leave. Until is when he notices a girl in the corner also having a panic attack (tears falling down at the party. Saddest little baby in the room) and he sits down next to her and even though they are both having a panic attack, they are able to comfort each other by just being there for each other.
well I thought he saw a crying ghost & its scary, & the "those aren't meant to bend" is prolly the ghost bending its bones or something, & the "i can see u" was him saying he can see the ghost
this song constantly brings me back to 2020. I played volleyball with my friends because Haikyuu had become popular. after we played, i’d listen to music on my way home and this would be the first song that would play. we weren’t taking it seriously and had the time of our lives, not knowing that we’d eventually grow distant and move on.
nobody asked but here’s my personal headcanon. it’s set in the perspective of a therapist whos patient is a victim of child SA. i mainly got this from “what has got you distraught?”, “i hear your eyes and i see those cries”, and “i can’t be the only one who hears you.” . i got the child SA part from the “go on and hand me your clothes. (oh, here you go)”, “it’s negative attention at best”, and “those aren’t meant to bend” parts. children aren’t meant to bend, aka do sexual stuff. they physically cannot. i think the therapist is so in shock of what the patient is saying, trying to process how somebody could do that to a child, with the “those aren’t meant to bend” part repeating multiple times. i think the SA happened at a party, most likely a birthday party, mainly cause of the “tears falling down at the party,” part. the “i might die” part may be related to the “those aren’t meant to bend” line, because since it’s incredibly dangerous for a child to partake in sexual activity, they could actually die. i think the patient was so young that they were actually close to dying from it, since they aren’t meant to bend. the “but call it nothing” part may mean that when they finally told someone, they didn’t believe them or think it was true, and brushed it off like it was nothing. this might’ve caused them to actually believe that what they went through wasn’t serious or important. yet with the therapist actually telling them it was serious, they finally start to believe it (got that from the “maybe it’s something, a little bit, a little bit). more stuff about why i think it involved a therapist, it says “i get a little grey hair for every scare you share.”- and therapists get told problems or trauma, aka having scares shared. the “fears, tell me fears, don’t get me started” helps more whith the therapist thing- mainly with the “tell me fears” part, but also with how much the therapist has heard- they don’t want to hear more, aka, “don’t get me started.”. there’s more but it’s almost 6 am and i haven’t slept so ya

I saw this off of an Instagram video where it’s a bunch of creepy SCP and other weird/creepy anomaly that changes the pictures every beat. Now I’m here.
This was the first jack stauber song I ever found, but recently I've moved away from it as I distance myself from Jack Stauber (so I don't get bored of his music). And I regret it. Jack makes so many bitter melodies perfect for me and I need to learn that.
i actually hate how people using songs about traumas as tiktok challenges. like daddy issues, drivers license, oh klahoma or any other songs about past traumas. whenever i feel down i come here because my theory about this song is about someone is depressed and their partner/friend is the only one who sees depressed one, and tries to help them. but some teenagers just did it a ghost challenge music which makes me so uncomfortable
This is it. This is the thing that makes me mad about tik tok. I don’t mind tik tok using songs that aren’t songs about trauma. It doesn’t ruin them for me. But when it does it to songs like this it just... grinds my gears I guess. I dunno, I’m probably being petty.
Yes! It makes me so angry whenever I see little white girls dancing to songs like Gommene Gommene (Trigger warning) which is about a little girl being raped and killed by her father.
i mean once you get past the cringey challenges and trends, there are some comedic gems on tiktok like mud consumer, but yeah a lot of tiktok is just bad

Here is my interpretation of the song. im not sure if its original but I came to this conclusion listening to this song a bunch. I think people tend to try to think this is from the perspective of an adult with either problems with anxiety with things being more figurative. But I think this song is more literal than anything. I think this song has two perspectives, one from a baby (named Klahoma) on it's first birthday, and the other from Jack Stauber, or the onlooker. I think hes watching a baby and writes from the baby's perspective. "what has got you distraught? Its negative attention, at best. But call it nothing" - The baby is crying and being fussy, maybe its not getting enough attention, probably nothing. "its all about ascension, I guess. Don't put me to rest" -What baby hasn't cried to be picked up? Baby is just not in a good mood. "go on and hand me your clothes, Take a picture or two" - Guess whos the birthday baby? Klahoma! nicely dressed and ready for pictures because what (good) parent isn't going to take photos of the first birthday? I believe the chorus is pretty literal from Klahoma's perspective, something scared it because "those aren't mean't to bend" Maybe party streamers? straws? who knows? Most babies tend to have greyish hair if they are not naturally really dark/ Black. I wonder if what Jack would think of my analysis, What do you think? do you have another Idea? It's a good song. Jack, if you do somehow see this, please come to Idaho!
I like to think this song is about a elderly man and a ghost and or a figment of his imagination. The final line is what gets me to think this is a elderly man and the part about him hearing things nobody else can either means hes haunted or he is going senile.

my 13 year old senior cat recently passed away from lung cancer that had spread completely throughout her body. she couldn't feel her legs, causing her to bite at them and cause major damage and stress that pushed her over the edge. the symptoms for this were very hard to catch, causing this to go undiagnosed until a week before her passing. the doctor had to put her to sleep after rushing her to the emergency room, as they did not expect her to come home with us that night. we did not want her to suffer longer than she had already.
this song constantly played in my head during this ordeal that spanned days.
she's been cremated and is back safe in our home, though in another form of ash.
this song carries such a pained emotion to me. and even though i still can't listen to it again just yet, i applaud your ability to bring these kinds of emotions through song. all of your work is wonderful, and i hope you continue on.

I think this song is about a couple. It's being told by one person's perspective in how their significant other is depressed or going through something, but covering it up by partying and doing fun activities. Everyone around them thinks they are fine but the other knows what's really happening (hence the lyrics: I can't be the only one that hears you)
This song makes me cry everytime. What do you think the meaning is?

It's been 2 years now and Jack stauber is still one of my favorite artists, :') I cant believe my synopsis on this song blew up. Je comprends toujours pas le sens de "those aren't meant to bend" .

Ikr its such an awesome song
Hey, guess what?
This song makes me think of someone going through pain or depression and they tell said person and let it out to them but they don't know how it affects the person and this is the person's perspective of the confusion of why no one will else will help the depressed friend other than them which of course puts stress on the person while the depressed friend gets better but the stress of always protecting and having no one to talk to themselves breaks themand results in a bad power exchange

Dear Lora,
I still can comprehend what I witnessed that night, as I speak it is still dwelling in the back of my subconscious.

Saddest little baby in the room) and he sits down next to her and even though they are both having a panic attack, they are able to comfort each other by just being there for each other.

this song constantly brings me back to 2020. I played volleyball with my friends because Haikyuu had become popular. after we played, i’d listen to music on my way home and this would be the first song that would play. we weren’t taking it seriously and had the time of our lives, not knowing that we’d eventually grow distant and move on.
Just the way life goes I suppose
nobody asked but here’s my personal headcanon.
it’s set in the perspective of a therapist whos patient is a victim of child SA. i mainly got this from “what has got you distraught?”, “i hear your eyes and i see those cries”, and “i can’t be the only one who hears you.” . i got the child SA part from the “go on and hand me your clothes. (oh, here you go)”, “it’s negative attention at best”, and “those aren’t meant to bend” parts. children aren’t meant to bend, aka do sexual stuff. they physically cannot. i think the therapist is so in shock of what the patient is saying, trying to process how somebody could do that to a child, with the “those aren’t meant to bend” part repeating multiple times. i think the SA happened at a party, most likely a birthday party, mainly cause of the “tears falling down at the party,” part. the “i might die” part may be related to the “those aren’t meant to bend” line, because since it’s incredibly dangerous for a child to partake in sexual activity, they could actually die. i think the patient was so young that they were actually close to dying from it, since they aren’t meant to bend. the “but call it nothing” part may mean that when they finally told someone, they didn’t believe them or think it was true, and brushed it off like it was nothing. this might’ve caused them to actually believe that what they went through wasn’t serious or important. yet with the therapist actually telling them it was serious, they finally start to believe it (got that from the “maybe it’s something, a little bit, a little bit). more stuff about why i think it involved a therapist, it says “i get a little grey hair for every scare you share.”- and therapists get told problems or trauma, aka having scares shared. the “fears, tell me fears, don’t get me started” helps more whith the therapist thing- mainly with the “tell me fears” part, but also with how much the therapist has heard- they don’t want to hear more, aka, “don’t get me started.”. there’s more but it’s almost 6 am and i haven’t slept so ya
i just noticed the lyrics say "i *hear* those *eyes* and i *see* those *cries*
Noticed it too. I was really confused, but then I thought a little bit about it.

i actually hate how people using songs about traumas as tiktok challenges. like daddy issues, drivers license, oh klahoma or any other songs about past traumas. whenever i feel down i come here because my theory about this song is about someone is depressed and their partner/friend is the only one who sees depressed one, and tries to help them. but some teenagers just did it a ghost challenge music which makes me so uncomfortable
This is it. This is the thing that makes me mad about tik tok. I don’t mind tik tok using songs that aren’t songs about trauma. It doesn’t ruin them for me. But when it does it to songs like this it just... grinds my gears I guess. I dunno, I’m probably being petty.

You are pretty close
My meaning of this song is kind of dark
Its actually about a dad talking to his dead ghost son
how do u know

“Everybody” is probably doing both
When you are sad, you listen to the meaning of a song, when you are happy, you just vibe with it bro
we can all agree that this is one of Jack's most calming song.
Weird, I feel an absolute sensation dread when I read the lyrics of this song.
Oh Circumcise my love for you~~~
I really didn’t understand the lyrics until I went to a party last night that ended with me confused and upset.... now I understand.... how strange
This needs a music video

Lyrics :
*Set the phasers to rot
What has got you distraught?
It's negative attention at best
But call it nothing
Maybe it's something, a little bit, a little bit
Maybe it's something to do a little bit
It's all about ascension, I guess
Don't put me to rest
Go on and hand me your clothes
(O-oh, here you go)
Take a picture or two
(Two or three?)
I can see you
(Oh)
Tears falling down at the party
Saddest little baby in the room
Fears, tell me fears, don't get me started
I get a little grey hair for every scare you share
Those aren't meant to bend
No, those aren't meant to bend
Those aren't meant to bend
No, those aren't meant to bend
I hear your eyes and I see those cries
I hear those eyes and I see those cries
I can't be the only one who hears you
Tears falling down at the party
Saddest little baby in the room
Fears, tell me fears, don't get me started
I get a little grey hair for every scare you share
Those aren't meant to bend
No, those aren't meant to bend
Those aren't meant to bend
No, those aren't meant to bend
Tears falling down at the party
Saddest little baby in my eye
Fears, tell me fears, don't get me started
I might die*
i don't know why, but the "those aren't meant to bend" part hits me in the feels
"jimmy, my crossaint is coming back out because i saw this image"

Man, binging all of his old videos and getting back to the first song that I ever heard of his is crazy, he has changed so much and come so insanely far. Even though I haven’t been a fan for long, jack is the only artist that I have ever taken the time to look back on. By far my favorite artist of all time, I really wish I could say more but I have not the words to describe my love for this dude and his work.
"those aren't meant to bend"
That's how I feel about my ankles
Like... this is a mood. Got a single person I feel safe telling how I actually feel but I don't want to tell them cause they have their own issues to worry about
This.
@@MrChata93 right?! I'm not crazy?! I'm not alone in this
@bright3944 It's a pain in your soul but you don't want to transfer that to the one person you trust to tell it. Almost like , the fact you have someone so special to you is enough. Everything else can be pushed down for them to live happily.
This song is a vibe check.
It's amazing how much I love Jack Stauber with all my being.❤
It's got a bit of a HOME feel about it
Nice
I’d prefer you not link the song to anything, it’s its own thing, just let the music be unique(this all just be an opinion have a great day)
Julian Chong no
I just found this channel now, but I love it
0:49 is my favorite
This is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. I’m going through a difficult time right now and this song really speaks to me.
