The poem speaks of how the horses were replaced by cars and vehicles as land transportation and they are laughing at the accidents that happen because the they would never have accidents so the thing that replaced them causes harm

I think #26 is D because the poem is more focused on the vehicles that replaced the horses and the accident that they are causing...If something takes my place I will laugh or rather have that "I told you so" feeling especially if that said thing turns out to be bad. Only one line mentioned the prairie while most of the poem focused on the vehicles that replaced the horses and the accidents.

For #20, at first my option was letter D but I later agreed with option A. Retrench means to cut staff...not demote; therefore the opposite would be to employ...not promote.
