One can look back at one's life and pinpoint moments that were life-changing. Dédé was one of them. I was introduced to his music in the mid 1960's while at university. I have had the pleasure of attending many of his concerts throughout the next 60 years. I've also had the pleasure of meeting him a few times. I asked him once why he always started his new concert tours here in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. He told me that Fredericton always brought him good luck. He continued to do so until his last concert tour. After another concert here in Fredericton, I told him that I had never heard "Neiges" played so coldly and frostily. He had first recorded it back in 1975. I said to him that due to climate changes, his environment had dramatically changed ant that he should re-record it to match the times. He laughed and told me that he would think about it. Sadly, he never did re-record it. When one listens to music most of his/her life, one gets tired of an artist, moves on with the times and follows all the clichés. But when someone keeps coming back to one artist that has changed his life, elevated it, calmed it and soothed it, one comes to realize that one is touch with a genius - "le petit Mozart de Montréal. The day I heard that André passed away, my heart was full of sadness, knowing that I would never hear a new original piece of music from him ever again. My old friend, play your heavenly music for eternity and may I have the pleasure ad the honor to hear it in person one day. Rest in peace, you beautiful soul.
As some of you I too discovered Andre Gagnon way too late in my life! Now he is my favorite musician of all times and genres! His music is pure perfection❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤All i was looking for in other kinds of music and not quite finding, always lacking something, although good, in general. Mr Gagnon 's music has it ALL. I'd say Mr Gagnon's music is not only national treasure, it's Humanity's treasure! I grew up in Soviet Union, studied classical music, loved some of contemporary music of different genres. I love folk music of many nations: Georgian, Ukrainian, Russian, Belarusian. Last 20+ years I live in Texas. I love country music, ballads, soul music, Gospel music, etc. But! When I first heard A Gagnon... It was like I finally found what I was looking for all my life!! Honestly, to me there is no classical piece that can compare!
Andre Gagnon is truly one of a kind. There is no other pianist quite like him. He has a style and presentation that is uniquely quite his own. Merci, Monsieur Gagnon for the countless hours of total relaxation that you and your music have brought to me. It has been a gift that I have cherished since I first discovered you in the '70s and I continue to do derive so much inner peace from your haunting melodies, as I now approach my mid-seventies. You are the gift that keeps on giving. Bless you!.
Wow, I couldn't have said it any better myself!! Andre Gagnon is easily my favorite pianist in the world, past or present. His music really hits my heart in a way that no other pianist does. It's almost like poetry... like reading a beautiful novel. If there is a Nobel prize for pianist, he would easily win.

Difficile à qualifier tant elle nous échappe. Céleste aussi serait un mot approprié. Il émane de ces mélodies un apaisement miraculeux. Tous les soirs avant de m'endormir, j'en écoute une ou deux. I have just discovered the composer from his work "L'attente", and I love its melancholic tone. While listening to this collection, I finally found a composer who really speaks to my soul. I saw him several times,I first his music as the theme to a Quebec produced historical drama entitled ''Les Forges de St-Maurice.Unfortunately the original tapes of that show were destroyed by Radio-Canada.The music was so integral to the show,he has such a way to write and play music that draws you in.Merci pour tous ces beaux moments.

父の葬儀の時に流れていたのは、"めぐり逢い"でしたが、
アンドレギャニオンさんの曲を聴いていると、父に見守ってもらえてるような感じを受けます。
本当に見守ってくれてると思える曲ですね。葬儀の日まで知らない曲だったのが、今は信じられないです。

Very beautiful music, to me, it covers the different positive emotions the soul can feel. I actually don't read, write or do anything while listening to it, but just that: I listen attentively and imagine myself sitting in the living room where you are playing the grand piano without making a sound, just listening, listening.....

So sad today by discovering the news of André Gagnon's death. he stays one of the best romantic piano players of these last deceny. For sure his creative music will miss us forever. peace for his soul after suffering so long with this terrible cognitive desease.
I saw him several times,I first his music as the theme to a Quebec produced historical drama entitled ''Les Forges de St-Maurice.Unfortunately the original tapes of that show were destroyed by Radio-Canada.The music was so integral to the show,he has such a way to write and play music that draws you in.Merci pour tous ces beaux moments.
