I think you’ve proven yourself already man. You’re incredible. You’re younger than me and have definitely used more than me. Both on trt as I absolutely know if my natty production is gone, yours is. I think you’re mad going back on blasts. At your height and weight it’s unlikely you’ll see your late 80s. Blast and you’ll be lucky to see your 60s. Crazy. Don’t do it. You have a family. You’re already a hero.
I hope you’re not offended by my words, you’re a grown man, so do what you want, but, sometimes you need ti hear the truth.
Do not presume to tell another man what the truth is. Who are you to tell him how to live his life? Nobody has the right to do that, not you, his wife or his kids. Thor is an intelligent man but he's also a natural giant. None of us know how long we will live. And what does time bring other than more days and months? It guarantees nothing. Crafting a legacy lives on a lot longer than one mortal existence. Everyone close to him knows this. They understand the life of a strongman.
But we should never EVER discourage someone from doing what they love because WE think it involves risks. That's immoral in my eyes. Let Thor make his own decisions. If he wants to powerlift then good on him. He has the courage to stare any risk in the face and still pursue his dream.

I feel like this is the best avenue for him in terms of health. It won’t require him to consume 15k calories a day. It won’t require him to starve himself to stand on stage. And give that it’s the raw record, he won’t have to lift as much weight compared to the equipped record. Pumped to see this journey
Edit: just got to the announcement of rouge and Arnold’s 2024. Hopefully it’s a 1 off and retires after. That’s the biggest thing I fear for Brian Shaw. Just hope his extensive, lengthy career doesn’t cost him time.

Thor is BACK!! I lost a lot of motivation in strongman when all my favorites were leaving and moved towards powerlifting but never could find any strength idols that could motivate me like your old content and presence did so glad your coming back!
You’re an inspiration to me. The hardest year of my life was 2020, dealing with s__cidal thoughts etc and watching you deadlift 501 live lit fire in my belly to chase my dreams of climbing Mt. Denali. 3 years later I’m climbing Mt. Whitney in June of this year and checking off the tallest mountain in the lower 48 states in USA. Can’t wait to see what you accomplish next.

@@zacknight9137 I think Thor is built great for deadlift but will struggle on the bench press with his long arms . Thor is good at squats . But some don't want to count his 1105 dead lift since it wasn't in a competition. So he will train to surpass 1105

Amazing Thor! I just love your Mt Everest goals and your conviction while you speak of them. I know you will be remembered in the power lifting world as an Icon no matter how you do but I know you will get this. I started watching the strong man competition way back when it first started. I named my son Magnus. I worry about the stress on your heart, not just you but all of the other competitors as well. I can’t wait to see how you do and pray that you and the others can avoid any injuries. If any of this doesn’t make sense, I’m struggling with early onset dementia. You inspire me to fight past any obstacles. Thank you.

This reminds a bit of Jordan returning to basketball :) Having said that.. personally, as an armchair expert but avid watcher of strongman, I think Thor's chances to beat powerlifting record in 2023 are very slim, and chances of winning Arnold in 2024 are slim. I get the 'muscle memory' part, but I think Thor's becoming that monster in his final version (2018-2020) was result of SIX years of growing frustration (six consecutive years of being on WSM podium but not winning!) and determination. If he manages to return to that version it will be mind-boggling; personally I find it hard to imagine and therefore not likely. So if he does that, it will impress beyond words. Also, it is impressive that he wants to do the difficult things. Pretty sure that if I was in his situation, I would choose most lucrative and easiest stuff - some 'freak fights' in MMA with other 'sport celebrities' who weren't professional fighters - which can pay immense money for a guy like Thor. Also I'd look for more cameos in movies, probably hire an agent in Hollywood. The good thing is Thor can very well do it later, after trying his comeback to strength competitions.
