the L-1011, the DC-10, the B727 and now the MD-11....all classic Trijets are now history - we will miss ALL of them!!! FANTASTIC VIDEO as always and I'm so proud to flew in the past with all this fantastic Jets, unfortunately only one leg with Delta's MD-11 CVG-FRA in 1996 but it was awesome. I will like to remember back to all this fantastic moments with all of you!!!
Absoultly breathtaking. I have no words for this. After climbing out of the thick cloud and seeing that sea. I was sold, but I was pretty much in tears seeing this bird head on its final flight. Please never stop doing these videos.
Few thoughts.. you filmed this in 2014.. your videos are much more professional feeling in 2018! How you’ve grown!! I love your videos and watch them always! Schipol is in the Netherlands, my family’s home. It was awesome and an honor to watch this big planes final flight! Thank you a few times over!!! ❤️👍👍
Damn! I lived most of my live near Helsinki, from which one of the final operators of MD11, finnair, flew. I was able to go to Birmingham to fly the DC10, but was flying else where when this gig was announced. I guess I now gotta go and earn an ATPL, some 5000 hrs of experience, and then go fly for UPS who probably will still fly MD11 for the next 10 years. damn. At least I've flown a trijet.
That was a truly awesome video! Thanks for sharing this. Sad to see such an incredible plane disappear from passenger service, however it still soldiers on as a freighter with a number of airlines including KLM, Lufthansa and Martinair.
I think there's something poetic about having all that paparazzi during the taxi and takeoff, i'm sure there were tons of people in those parking lots snapping pictures, but then once you ascend above the clouds, it's just you and the plane. A historic flight that nobody else in the world is experiencing except for the people onboard in that moment. It's really intimate.
Beautiful. But is it coincidence that the name of the captain on this last MD-11 flight from Amsterdam is Ooievaar (as mentioned by the senior purser)? 'Ooievaar' is the dutch word for 'stork'.
Because it is a relatively expensive aircraft with it's three engines. We are now capable of flying over the ocean 2 engines. That is why they replace the MD-11 with the 787.
Timpaaa2 Yep. And even in its heyday the MD-11 was a big disappointment that failed to deliver the fuel efficiency promised by MD's marketing guys. This may well be what killed the company.
According to AW (Airways Mag) is was the coast of maintenance of spare parts that was so costly. KLM had planed to retire the 744 (747-4) first but it made better since to retire the more costly aircraft first. Not to mention even international carriers like KLM, Delta, American, Midland and many others are heavily favoring twins over quads (not to mention tris)
Yes I am fully aware of that. This guy so-called 'Mark Aviation" is claiming the title is misleading *When it's not*. This in fact was the Final KLM Passenger flight out of AMS. The title does not say "Last MD-11 Passenger Flight out of AMS" it says "KLM MD-11 Last Departure from Amsterdam Schiphol on Final Outbound!". Key Words right there... "KLM MD-11 Last Departure" That proves my point. No wear in the title does it say "Last MD-11 Passenger Flight out of AMS".
YYC Plane Productions™ - HD Aviation This was from 2 years ago, I'm not going to drag myself down to your level. The fact is there were 3 farewell flights that took place after this flight on 11/11/14 ( I know, I was on one ) thus making this the 4th last KLM MD-11 passenger flight flight out of AMS.
Mark Aviation Haha you're a funny man;) This was in fact the last one. You are correct on the 4 farewell flights because 3 took plane before this and this is fact happened to be the last one.
2 engines are more economical, and safer and more powerful. glorified dc10 it needed to go away… look at how much runway that thing chewed up before rotation thats why it went away. super critical and laminar flow wings take 1/8th the space.

Captain Jezz like Concorde
Congratulations to KLM and there MD-11 fleet for serving passengers all of these years!!!
LOL why is there always a dam crying kid in most aircraft videos lol, I swear they are planted on board on purpose lmao.
I love the wings and flight surfaces. They look so tough and durable. A pity not one was donated for preservation.
Still, MD-11F is operated by FedEx,Martin Air, Lufthansa Cargo.... it is lucky that we can still see this plane in cargo version.
That start up sound and procedure is just epic, awesome video taken here!
I would feel very honored to be part of this flght!!! Great job Dan!!!

Spectacular breaking through the clouds video. Best I've ever seen!
Love the large flight surfaces. VERY robust aircraft I miss seeing.
So sad the MD-11 is going extinct soon. Such a beautiful plane
Fangzahn Aviation Studios they did have a lot of crashes
Avierre Worthy exactly
I love this airplane. The big one of aviation!
Amazing video, congratulations. ☺
MD-11 is a beautiful plane, wish they could make the MD-11-40
*MD-11-800
MD11-->DC11(MD11 Fix)
Awesome quick takeoff roll and climb. Liked!!
This was stunning, beautiful video! Well done Dan! Big like from me :)

Nice beautiful aircraft MD.11
What a climb!! Great video, as always.
Great vdo. Md11 is very powerful for takeoff and going miss the plane after Dc-10.
Acceleration, climb rate, noise, the MD11 had it all… a treasure of aviation.
Beautiful footage! Thanks for uploading!
Great Video Daniel! So Sad The MD-11 Is Retired!
Awesome video! Thanks for this one!
Amazing video! It is sad to see it go!!!
Great last catch, big thanks for sharing!!!

Awesome!!!! Great Video! Smooth ride!!!
damn...so beautiful and powerful
That engine just sounds majestic
Remembering that all tri jets are gone reminds me that quad jets are next
....thanks for this great video !!! I`ve just seen this plane at Schiphol and thought to myself .....wow....they are still flying these MD-11 ???
HARRY GUTOWSKI No.
Haha, the MD11 really loves to cloudsurf!
Awesome Video! :) Now I am already curious when the last A380 flight is. :D I do not want to think of it at all...
knowing the plane will be scrapped gives me the feels
Amazing view!
Very exciting!!
Great last flight! Like!
BUEN VIDEO
SALUDOS DESDE MÉXICO CITY
great vid
Planes boarded through one of the rear service doors through jetways that extend over the wing? I have never seen that before. That is really odd.
That's an AMS specialty, I think. Very interesting nevertheless!!
ArthurSixx ever heard of catering?
Maurits Veen Catering is usually handled by separate vehicles through the rearmost right service door.
Expirament A6 it must be even for Europeans
Kinda steep pitch on takeoff ya? Beautiful aircraft, why are they retiring it? It performs and looks great..
That's one thing the MD-11 is known for ;) the rocket departure
Because it is a relatively expensive aircraft with it's three engines. We are now capable of flying over the ocean 2 engines. That is why they replace the MD-11 with the 787.
HONEYNUT CHELIOS thanks m8 :)
Timpaaa2 appreciate the info, thanks :)
Timpaaa2 Yep. And even in its heyday the MD-11 was a big disappointment that failed to deliver the fuel efficiency promised by MD's marketing guys. This may well be what killed the company.
Hopefully Airbus or Boeing or any other manufacturer will make a 3 engined aircraft
Awesome
Were you aware this was going to be the last KLM MD-11 departure from Schipol before you booked?? Just interested to know...
nice vid...
I remember theae old klm md 11s. Last time ive seen one was in june 2014 at Schiphol.
ANick s muhammad kazim And
Almost crying... XD
pilots must be lucky to fly the last MD-11 flight
How old this MD 11 was ? it seems nice and not so old
Although the MD-11 was a beauty of a plane. I still like the L-1011. The best tri jet ever.
+TheSearchandfind I don't think anyone DOESN'T like the TriStar...
+CWINDOWSsystem32 don't know why, but I still prefer the Dc-10/MD-11, maybe I like the "industrial and massive" design
The bird looks fairly new, why retiring?
saw these all the time in montreal
as a kid i always wanted to go on it
i found it unique from the 777 and a330
but i missed my chance :(
Lol there was a martinair cargo md 11 when you where still on the runway accelorating
I saw the chopper in this video.
We want the landing, please!!...hahahaha
why is it the last. this plane model is only 28 years old. the DC-10 is older at 48 since it first flew on 8/20/1970
I thought there is many McDonnell Douglas MD11 in the world
R they goin to scrap it ?
Y dont they use it as freight cargo plane !
13:35 !!
I hate trijets but i like this one
Goodbye,MD-11!
R. I. P MD-11 and DC-10
2:40 captain ad ooievaar is retired 2 weeks ago!
Maurits Veen 😎😝😝🤗😮😣😝
Why it is the last flight MD-11 KLM?
According to AW (Airways Mag) is was the coast of maintenance of spare parts that was so costly. KLM had planed to retire the 744 (747-4) first but it made better since to retire the more costly aircraft first. Not to mention even international carriers like KLM, Delta, American, Midland and many others are heavily favoring twins over quads (not to mention tris)
i beleave it is the last ever md-11 pax plane flighrt ever klm was the last one
Where did this bird go after landing in YUL?
It Went Back To AMS And Thats It :(
It went back to Amsterdam then was sent to Mojave Airport via Los Angeles for scrapping. :(
Hopefully this never happens to the 777
why it go out of service
It was a very old aircraft, and since KLM was the last one to operate it commercially, it was incredibly expensive to maintain and operate.
Misleading title. This would have been the 7th last passenger MD-11 flight out of AMS....
No. Its The Last ******KLM ***** MD-11 Outbound Departure
YYC Plane Productions™ - HD Aviation it was the last passenger flight from an MD-11 ever outbound it's homebase

Man that sucks

safer?
wtf? theres a plane on the roof at 5:05
Ive been to schiphol airport once i think its a fake replica of the fokker 70
Only Aviation It's not a fake replica, it's a real retired Fokker 100
they've put it on the top of the roof of AMS panorama deck.
You KNOW your getting long in the tooth when almost every model of aircraft you flew on is gone or near to be so.
What!
Sad day when those are all gone. Ditch the A380 and bring these back
0:16 what the heck
yes This bird will be missed
normal people wanting their normal flight to toronto be like:
i'm here for my flight what is going on :(
