the drums in the beginning give me chills. this band is one of those bands you never get tired of ( at least i dont) and the first thing i always think of is space. nothing in particular, just space. outer space and how beautiful it is. like this band.

They say I made the moon
    Everything was in the dark
    No memories at all
Just a tiny freezing wind in my back
    As I was sitting there
Singing a song they had never heard before
    Suddenly, a voice told me
    "Keep on singing, little boy
And raise your arms in the big black sky
Raise your arms the highest you can
So the whole universe will glow"
My first vision was a bush growing down the river
    And I couldn't stop crying
    Something was missing
I realized I was in love with a voice
I called it, again, and again
But all I heard was the echo in the light

Their music makes any travel possible, depths of the ocean, high as the sky, to the other end of the universe. Up to the listener. Let your imagination run free. Close your eyes and simply relax. Their music is unparalleled. They're absolutely perfect :)

Quade Carter let your imagination soar, run wild and free.
I did what you said and this is what I imagined.
I couldn't sleep one night because my nightlight was on. so i wanted to go get a glass of water. i opened the door and it lead down to stairs. a voice told me,"go. you won't regret it." so I did suddenly the stairs dropped and I was falling and I happened to be with my crush and he kissed me. it was beautiful and then I looked around to see where I was and he was gone. I paniced and then I just thought," at least I spent my last moment with him." I was half way down to the ground, tears came out of my eyes then I opened my eyes to see that my crush caught me from dying. it was beautiful

    • @MagpieDynamics
      @MagpieDynamics 10 років тому +5

Layla K. Sanchez Interesting. I dreamed that I was drifting through space. Nothing but the freezing void for light-years all around. It was incredibly peaceful, until suddenly it wasn't. Something miraculous happened. A collection of dust and gasses became so great, that it's own gravity caused it to collapse in on itself, over and over, until a molten ball of primordial fire spewed forth and brought heat to that which was once eternally cold. I had witnessed the birth of a star, and even though it was only a dream, it reshaped my understanding of the universe. I haven't looked at the night sky the same way since, because now I know that when I watch the night sky, the night sky watches back.

What an incredibly high watermark it set! I'm 24 now and still try to recapture the catharsis I had listening to this album in my childhood bedroom. some music has the power to make you feel things that no other music has made you feel, things that you can't quite explain. Awe, loneliness, melancholy. happiness, all compressed into four minutes and a half. You see yourself from other perspective, as if you were outside of your body. You can almost feel in space were the only thing is your thoughts, and the immense and empty universe.

    • @thetasurfers

actually pink floyd is probably one of the most structured/organised partially impro based bands concerning that...
it goes without saying that m83 is very straight-forward and accessible.
and i'd say that is the same the majority of pink floyd with the exception of pieces like "echoes".
they may say that about themselves, but i can assure you that most of these "random" sounds were meticulously engineered or well controlled. more importantly, they didn't use random with a negative connotation.
maybe you should try the late "talk talk" (spirit of eden, laughing stock) to understand the impact of freedom of sound - at least i'd recommend that highly.
you may also want to try zelienople's "the world is a house on fire".
both those bands belong to my favourites.

I know this feeling! I see this in my dreams all the time! I see a big yellow planet and all over, around me its dark. There are people with me, I don't know them. They are in cloaks and they show me the planet, they point to it and I am scared. I am scared but I am so calm and peaceful. I know that place, that is my home. I don't care how crazy I sound. This has been in my head since I was little and to read that and see this... I don't think it's a dream anymore.
