I hope Sony let's us play the games that are on our accounts via cloud streaming. There is a large selection for the cloud streaming service right now in the beta, but either they need to add more games or unlock access to our games without needing the PS5.
Ill say this. I got a ps portal BEFORE i got my oled steam deck. Once i got that chiaki app on my steam deck, there was no going back to streaming my ps5 on my portal… for 2 main reasons. 1. Input latency is much better on the deck, and 2. The screen on the oled steam deck is MUCH BETTER. Whats even cooler is that chiaki works with HDR, so all those hdr games on ps5 has hdr enabled when streaming to the oled steam deck which i was REALLY surprised about, and that just makes for a better experience. Add in the fact that rumble also works and that it has wifi6 (just like the ps5 but UNLIKE the ps portal which is weird) and that i can use my own Bluetooth headphones, and that i can also stream my xbox and pc and all the other things the steam deck can do… its a no brainer if you have the money. I did enjoy using my portal though. I beat the entirety of death stranding on the portal, it was a blast.
I feel you. It’s so weird what shortcuts they took with WiFi and Bluetooth. My steamdeck is one of my favorite purchases of all time, I might get the OLED at this point screw it lol portal is great too I love it. Idk I feel like the handheld experience on it is nicer for me but I don’t have the OLED. Cloud streaming is a huge plus too for anyone that can use it
Literally I am the same way! I love handhelds! They are my true gaming love. First handheld was a purple gameboy color! I was looking at the portal specifically because I love playing my games handheld and know id get more use out of my ps5 if it could use it around my place. Nice videos man!
Yo we had the same gameboy color! As a married man, I play the portal waaay more than the ps5. It’s really convenient and a good experience. Thank you for the feedback! 🙏🏻
I just picked up the anniversary PlayStation portal .. I was able to snatch one after seeing your review and I’m happy with my purchase… I also recently picked up a Lenovo legion on a Best Buy sale and haven’t opened it lol …I really enjoy gaming on handhelds …I have a ps5 OG and Xbox series x but portability is awesome! Great video!
I own both the Steamdeck OLED and the Playstation Portal. Love both of them. I love the convenience of accessing my playstation 5 games and game saves. Steamdeck is also awesome but I am not a fan of having to download and configure the chiaki software to access my PS5 games. Yes, maybe I am lazy but the Playstation Portal is super easy setup and access. I just wish there was a way to play my physical Playstation 5 games on my Portal.
As much as PS is my preferred place to play games, it's also a business. Anything that promotes digital over physical games will be pushed and promoted that way. If they could get away with it with the console, they'd do it in a heartbeat. It's just sad that digital gamers don't back physical owners, especially since it benefits them too... 🤦🏽♂️
New to all this.. but for me with new update on portal with 120+ games already plus subscription and price of portal, 400 even. Portal it was over steam. Only crappy thing this beta thing.
It’ll be out of beta and even better. Definitely awesome value for $200. Steamdeck is an awesome separate device if you want to play pc games and emulate since your Portal is good for remote and cloud 👍🏻
I have both and love both they each serve a different purpose yes you can remote play your ps5 on steam deck but its no where close to remote playing on the portal with all the haptic feedback plus the screen is amazing
Hey man. Do you know if I could do the initial set up of the portal to my ps5 when its in a different country? Also at that distance will I still be able to play single player games smoothly? I have good internet both sides and ps5 is wired
I don’t think so because it needs to be on the same WiFi during setup if I remember correctly. Once you’re able to set it up you should be good to play anywhere as long as you’re on WiFi like you said
A guy with both, the new update for the portal, I kid you not, I’m playing ps5 games streaming like native. Ps5 is packed away. Streaming on the portal is really like native. Haven’t played my steam deck in a while, oled at that. Matter of fact, my steam deck will be sold soon
Cloud streaming for it is so good. I definitely know what you mean because if I’m home or on good WiFi, the portal works perfect. It’s a reason to buy more PlayStation games over Steam 😅😅
@@fudeezyy can you imaging when this beta is over on the portal what they can push towards us? I definitely don’t mind paying the premium a month. I bought the portal because it was the cheapest and easiest set up option to do remote play. I don't play on PC so buying a steam deck and then repurchasing all of the games I play wouldn't be worth it. Also buying the steam deck just to stream games would be way more expensive. The g-cloud is also more expensive and just doesn't feel as good in the hand as the portal does. I didn't want to buy a telescopic controller that I had to grab, then put on and then open the app, all on a smaller screen. You literally just turn the portal on and play. I've tried playing in a different state and it works great. Along with the new updates I'm glad I purchased it. Put about 60+ hours on it. It's helped me complete some games I've wanted to finish but never had the time due to travel or sharing the TV my PS5 is hooked up to.
Definitely agree I think it’s awesome value for the $200 especially with cloud streaming now. Remote on the deck works but I can’t go back after using the portal lol

If you are more of a PS gamer go for the Portal but are you a steam gamer take the deck but the deck is already 3 years and is getting outdated. With the Portal you play high end PS games.and with 5G mobile hotspot the Portal works perfectly
The ps5 portal is by far the best deal, but it's not a steam deck. It's apples and oranges. But if u wanna access to ps5 games and I don't have a ps5, then it's a great product to have. Also, it's only in beta for the time being. It can only get better, right?

Reasons the steam deck oled is a worthy upgrade if you care about these. 1. Little bigger and more colorful display. 2. Its 90hz as supposed to 60hz meaning it’ll be more smoother. 3. Faster ram which could give a tiny boost in performance. 4. Has higher base storage with 1tb over the 512gb model. 5. Has a better WiFi card, which could help with better connectivity. For me I’m going for the ally x because it has most of what I listed and vastly improves on them. Sorry for the long message hope this helps
Thank you! The performance upgrades make it seem worth it. I’m just worried they’ll drop the Steamdeck 2 when I buy this 😂 Rog Ally was awesome but mine broke. I hope it’s better now that the new version is out
The Portal is lighter, never gets hot, has WAY better battery life, a bigger screen with higher res. It also has a better form factor, and all of the dualsense controller features. Saying the Portal is pointless if you have a steam deck, was always a dumb/fanboy argument... 🤷
Facts lol like just because it streams games too doesn’t make it the best way to stream your ps5 games. Forgot about the heat and jet engine fan, good points 👍🏻
Ok. If you own an oled tv or know someone who does please put whichever other tv on a HDR movie right next to it, in a pitch black room…. Then you will be sold. The best example I can give you is that I’ve been gaming in the deck instead of my pc screen even when I have the free time just because of HDR and amazing colors of the deck. PS: I would rather have oled and hdr than higher settings or resolution.
I know what you mean lol my monitor is an oled and my tv is an LG oled. I’m just scared I’ll upgrade my steamdeck just for a 2 to be announced the next day 😂
@ ufff. Yeah I know. It is a understandable feeling. It took me a while to order one for the same reason and I regretted but your situation is different. You already have one. You could use yours as a Christmas gift 🤣 and that way you have the perfect excuse to buy the oled for yourself lol
The Ps portal and steam deck isn’t even on the same category the PS portal can’t really do much without buying the $20 subscription to cloud stream or ps5 so u need to have both system and the steam deck, rog ally x,Lenovo go and msi claw those are mini pc tat just require internet

I have the portal and the oled deck. Hardly use the deck now 😐
I might slowly be getting there too. Buying Monster Hunter on PS5 for the sole reason of remote play with the Portal 😅
If money is your topic, go portable.
all other topics.. go SD OLED
thanks
You can do it all on the deck but the experience on the portal is really damn good
Had to show my girlfriend this part 8:10. 😂😂 I know how you feel!
Had to be real 😂
The Portal is lighter, never gets hot, has WAY better battery life, a bigger screen with higher res. It also has a better form factor, and all of the dualsense controller features. Saying the Portal is pointless if you have a steam deck, was always a dumb/fanboy argument... 🤷
Facts lol like just because it streams games too doesn’t make it the best way to stream your ps5 games. Forgot about the heat and jet engine fan, good points 👍🏻
Steam deck its way better
Love mine
@joseandresjulienbarriere8786 not a bad idea 😂 I almost pulled on the white one but the price was steep. I’ve modded mine with a 1 tb ssd too
Steamdeck easy lol
In most cases yes 👍🏻
Theres no way we're actually comparing these two.
2 completely different things but they share remote play for ps5 owners
This is an apples to oranges comparison.
I said that too lol
Which one to buy ? Why is this even a video lol
If it’s not for you that’s cool bro
The Ps portal and steam deck isn’t even on the same category the PS portal can’t really do much without buying the $20 subscription to cloud stream or ps5 so u need to have both system and the steam deck, rog ally x,Lenovo go and msi claw those are mini pc tat just require internet
I agree. It’s situational for sure
YOU SHOULD SELL BOTH LCD STEAMDECK & THE PLAYSTATION PORTAL AND YOU THAT MONEY TO GET YOUR SELF A STEAMDECK OLED !!!! SMH 🤦♂️💯🔥
Definitely keeping the portal but I’m considering the OLED deck. My luck is just so shit the second I buy it they’ll announce the Steamdeck 2 lol
The portal is the most useless handheld to ever come out lmao
The Steam Deck is the only correct answer
But what if your someone like me that don’t play no other games including games on my phone besides PlayStation games?
Then portal is probably best
