Brilliant stuff. What a feast youtube is for this excellent content and for the aged jazz enthusiast something entirely new in availabilty of the genre. Strange that sections of this music reminded me of something and it was an old George Russel and his Smalltet LP I have titled 'The Jazz Workshop' reissued by request but that was over 55 years ago. The very complimentary LP notes from a 1957 review by Leonard Feather describe it as 'far out' that may disturb some people. Mainstream now.
Not here to hate, just my 2 cents : every artist is top. I kinda prefer the loosen jazzy feel , over this "studied" amd arranged ensable, but i gues that's exacty why i prefer chopin played by an orchestra over a blurry smoking jazzy version of a nocturne. Brilliant execution anyway ❤
The arranged intro was perfect. Soulful trumpet solo, The woodwind colors, the the sendoff for the tenor, all great sounds! One day I hope to send you guys a chart!
Thank you very much for the link. What a great Big band you are, That I know, we don't have such a project like yours in France. Congrats for the good ( and hard ) job.
@@hrbigband Thank you very much indeed for your response. That is very helpful. I was hoping to purchase the CD, is why I asked. Do you know if this is the only 'version' of JM's exact arrangement, please?
@@hrbigband - So are you planning to record it on a CD? Or is it just an arrangement you perform at live concerts? Is the arrangement exclusively written for the FRBB, of are the parts/score available to anyone? Thanks a lot.

Damn you're doing concerts in Frankfurt?? Very cool
it´s from october and the pandemic wasn´t that hard in germany at that time
Why not.................
Is that Jim McNeely making the announcements? He looks so different!
Yes, it's him. Our chief conductor.
@@hrbigband Oh wow, I honestly did not recognise him as he looks quite different from his Village Vanguard days! He's a great player and arranger!
Has this been released on CD does anyone know, please?
Hi monsterjazzlicks, we haven't released it yet.

Sowhatcellent
It's a great chart but I'm not so sure I like the dotted-eighth notes in the opening section. Perhaps it's just personal taste thing?
Better than the Gil Evans recording
BULLSHIT!
