Glad to see it only takes a couple of seconds of spray. That was the main bit of knowledge that I needed.
I was using premium ether in this video. If it doesn’t say premium on the can you might need a couple extra seconds.
@@MikesMischiefI had a trailer tire come off it's bead yesterday, I bought some carb and choke cleaner...it only half way worked 🤷♂️
@@DeepSouthBayouDiesel it depends on temperature. Ether burns so fast that it can’t really do any damage. I can tell a difference even between cheap starting fluid and premium. Premium starting fluid is the best for this.
@@MikesMischief thank you. I've only done this a handful of times and don't have years of experience with this method. Yesterday was my second failure. I had to limp home.
@shadowwolfx333 just be careful. Leave yourself a trail of ether off to the side of the tire and light it from the side. If you have dual tires run the good tire up on a block. You have to have air supplied or the tire will suck back in after a few seconds. It helps to have the tire pushed back so that one side is against one of the beads to start. Make sure you’re not on dry grass or around anything flammable. Once you get it it’s like walking a dog. Have a good New year.
I did that! It saved me a trip to the shop
Very nice! Took a few tries but it worked great. Saved me a lot of explaining today 😂
Better to start with less and work your way up than to blow it off the bead. Premium ether works a lot better. Gotta make sure the fire is all the way out before trying it again.
Getting er done. Great job.
Love doing this the pop is so fun
worked like a charm!
Like a boss
The coolest sht ever ..
Admittedly I want the number of views that shorts get of the people working out in the gym in leggings. But I’m the wrong gender, I will never own a pair of tights and my gym membership card has 1/4” of dust on it…. So I just make these simple shorts of things I do at work and tractors…. They don’t get the views but I still have a little bit of self respect left. 🤏
I put that shit on everything
@MikesMischief Well, if it isn't... it is now Mike! 😅
👍🏽🇺🇸
Btw, subbed my friend.
@@jerryjeromehawkins1712 thank you sir. I’m just a simpleton trying to keep myself sane up here in no man’s land.
F yeah
😂
It' good for used tire,
but it' not working new one..
I use it on new tires too. Pull the rim forward so the back bead is touching all the way around. Give it a little extra ether and kick it hard. If the new tires have been stacked like pancakes it might take a couple attempts to warm up the rubber.
Can you... do this, with a wheel barrow?
@@Damin-Danger-Ledford side note I’ve replaced my wheel barrow and garden cart tires with the solid foam tires about 5 years ago. Haven’t had a flat since.
My semi tire is currently off the rim! I’m In a parking spot the air house is at the fuel island. If I do this will it last long to make to the fuel island I’m currently empty. 53 dry van!
It has to have pressurized air on it when you do this. It will suck back in after a few seconds without air supplied. If you have air it depends how bad the hole leaks. Sometimes a slow leak will take a week to drop 10 psi. Sometimes they’ll leak our faster than the open valve.
I’ve done it at fuel pumps before. It’s a little scary at first. Just make sure you have a good fire extinguisher there. Pulling the good tire up on a block before will help also. Thanks for your feed back.
It looks like the tires still of the rim tho didn’t look like it changed at all
Tell me you’ve never worked on tires without telling me you’ve never worked on tires…. The tire beads are like giant rubber bands with steel wires in them. They have to be stretched over the outer part of the rim. The gap when they’re not beaded up is too big to hold back air so the tire won’t inflate. You must use a bead blaster or starting fluid like I did to get a huge burst of air to push the beads out.
@@MikesMischief yes I quite understand that part but after you used ur ignition source it just flamed it looked like and the tire didn’t stretch it could just be the pov or I’m just super stoned rn but it looked like it wasn’t over the outer part of the rim
@itryxz1983 I’ve done this a couple hundred times and I know exactly how to position the tire and the right amount of ether to use so there isn’t a huge woof usually.
@@MikesMischief that’s fair I only really seen when they do the huge woof so that makes sense my question has been answered I’m too stoned😂
Not a bad thing to be on a Friday evening that’s also the first day of summer. 🔥🪴
Will wd 40 work
I don’t think so but I’ve never tried being perfectly honest. I use either aka starting fluid. I buy the premium stuff. It’ll say premium on the can.
Is the kick optional ?
If it doesn’t go woof right away then kicking it will allow more oxygen into the tire and then it’ll woof. I just have a routine light then kick so if it did woof it will.
Do i have to hit the tire or was that for added abuse lol
Sometimes they woof and bead up instantly. If they don’t kicking the sidewall will allow air to rush in and ignite the rest of the ether and it’ll usually woof and bead up then.
do you air the tire while doing it
Take the valve core out and use an open flow clip on chuck or a Milton recapper P/N 731 .
What is that spray called sir ?
Premium Starting Fluid aka ether. If you use regular starting fluid you’ll need a little more.
@@wadani30 leave yourself a trail to the side of the tire and light the trail. You don’t want to light it if you’re standing in front of the tire. You’ll have to have an air hose on the valve or it’ll suck back in after a few seconds.
Works great but tip dont do it with the tire laying in grass it will get in the bead 🤦♂️
I like having the wheel itself leaned up against something solid where the tire can still sit back on the back bead. A Jack stand works really good for this and is primarily what I use. I use the rear bumper of my rolloff truck sometimes. Something solid about 2’ tall where it can lean back and not push the tire away from the bead.
If only some of the guys I've watched do this understood what this guy does... that u don't need a half a can. Still... its fun to watch this process when an idiot tries it.
I have learned that there is a big difference between the regular ether and the one that says “Premium” on the can. If I’m using regular I will add more. The premium stuff takes about 2-3 seconds then I always leave a trail so I’m not standing in front of it when it goes woof.
We have one. They’re loud and only work half of the time. I’m not a fan of having a pressurized vessel made with foreign steel pressed up against my legs or standing near it while it goes from 0psi to 150 psi. This method works every time and keeps me out of the blast area.
Can you use gasoline??
I never have tried that. Gas will fume out and combust and could be a bigger boom than a guy bargained for. I suppose if you had a consistent octane and freshness maybe a guy could come up with a safe formula. For me I prefer 3-4 seconds of premium ether and leave a trail. I started small and worked my way up to the golden ratio. Tires are hard to put out if they catch so just be careful and honestly I’m going to say you probably shouldn’t and if you do maybe soak a paper towel and throw that in there but no more than that.
thanks for SHOWING EXACTLY how experience does this.... details probably saved a trailer from being burnt down
I’ve done this mounted on a truck before when I was in a pinch. I did make sure my fire extinguisher was in service before lighting it. In a shop off the truck it’s my personal opinion that this is safer than a cheetah can. The cheetah can puts out 135 decibels every time you hit the lever and half the time it doesn’t seat the bead. A foreign made metal can at 150psi pressed against my thigh makes me wince every time. This truck can be done safely and works 99% of the time. I won’t use a cheetah can they can take the tire to the tire store if they want me to use one.
