I feel like small battlefield was the game changer here. Zomba tends to not counterpick stages for some reason, maybe to help him learn bad stage matchups? But whatever the reason it won't help him win. Picking small battlefield for the runback (which was the only stage that allowed Corrin to be as oppressive on ROB) really screwed himself over as it allowed Shadic to(correct me if Im wrong) pick it again for game 5. Zomba destroyed Shadic on PS2 and would have likely done the same on any other stage that wasn't small battlefield.
I don't think stage picks matter as much as you think. SHADIC just play better neutral game the whole set. And the only time he lost is because he got cheese. And SB is not even the worst stage for ROB in this MU. Going to FD ROB can't land and just juggle to death by Corrin. Kalos Corrin can just pin the wall. Now he can't get cheese. This is a losing MU for ROB by the way. And not just SHADIC. even Zomba thinks ROB loses to Corrin!!!
@@riqua27against some characters, stage counterpicks are crucial. For example, smashville is probably Kazuya’s worst map because it has a very small platform and a higher ceiling than Hollow Bastion, leading to up b and up smash kills not killing sometimes. Maps like town and city also benefit characters like Joker, Isabelle, Steve, villager etc;
@@farewell418 I'm not denying that. My point is specifically in this MU. I don't think picking another stage that not SB will swing it to Zomba favour. SHADIC didn't even pick FD there. FD Corrin on certain MU might be as bad as Kazuya.
