Here in Puebla 25 min from the city MÉXICO I got a black zapote tree, a white and a mamey zapote, the only one which is 2 &a half meters is the white one, but I germinated the threes. I also germinated 4 papayos, one capulín, a Prisco, 12 avocados, an apple, 2 granates, ...

the way the fruit ripens and the single stone in the center reminds me of an avocado - the texture of the fruit too - the creamyness of it

Thanks for the upload. :) I've got a black sapote plant from Hawaii which is about 1,5 - 2 years old now. It grows very well (though I live in Germany). Do you know how long it takes till they produce fruits?

This was so awesome, thank you! I really want to try to grow this, a chocolate pudding fruit, from seed, then graph it to my american persiommon bonsai. Is there any way you or someone could send me a few seeds? It would mean so much. Just think about it and get back to me please! Thanks!!

I'm sure this is available in all tropical countries. I'm from India and I think this is present in India. I've just not eaten it, but I've eaten other varieties of the sapote fruits.

Can you get fruit from growing a seed from from the fruit of that tree. I've read that it is not true to seed. I bought a tree from someone here in South Florida in a 3 gallon pot. Tree looks great and the grower had many growing from seed. Can you elaborate a bit regarding this topic? I'm referring to the Black Sapote.

I have a mature tree and a small one which grew from a seed from that tree. I have a big crop this year and can't reach the uppermost fruit. I'm worried leaving old fruit might attract Fruitfly - the Satin Bowerbirds and Figbirds to get into the split ones. Do they get Fruitfly and can I prune the tree (it has a rather dropping habit. I just ate one today and got a very bad reaction to it. It makes your tongue orange/brown and for me it stung a little and also the sting continued down my esophagus and didn't feel good in my stomach. It was definitely ripe and very squishy like shown. Can someone else who has eaten it comment on how they have experienced this fruit?

    • @TreyGre7

Nah man it just enhances the texture and sweetness many fold for a tiny price. It's 10% worse for you for 50% more flavor. Jeez get your priorities straight.
