@Thaumaturgist 5e is simpler and easier to work with causally, 3.5 and it’s successor, Pathfinder, are more complex and let you do a lot more if you enjoy toying with the systems enough to get into it. They’ve both lasted because they’re both good and appeal to different kinds of players.
I've tried making health and mana potion cocktails before. I know mana potions aren't a D&D thing, but they're still a fixture in fantasy. I remember my mana potions actually came out really good, health potions were just OK. Unfortunately I don't remember either recipe any more. I also tried to make them not just taste good (and strong), but fit the theme. My mana potion was slightly effervescent and I think I used some grapefruit vodka in it to give it the slight tingly/numbing effect grapefruit can have. I also put edible pearl dust in it to make it visually sparkly and magical looking. I tried to make the health potion a bit herbal and medicinal.
@Michael Hinojosa I had a tpk thanks to botched rolls once, back when we used the “nat ones damage yourself” house rule. The first death was a tragedy, the second a frustration, the third a comedy, the fourth hilarious. When the fifth and last party member died by falling off a rickety bridge as he ran from everything we failed to kill before we all agreed it was the best way the game could have ended. Good times!
Greg, you're probably never gonna see this anymore, but today my D&D group was having a chat and someone mentioned the White Russian and someone else went "Russians don't exist in this world, that would be a White Dragonborn" and then a conversation started about possible cocktails based on D&D races, like a White Dragonborn would have to be a slushie (the same thing but as a frozen solid ice lollie would be White Dragon) and a red dragon could have Fireball, and it reminded me of your channel. There's a lot of potential inspiration in the various races (think Drow Daiquiri as well) so Iunno, if you'd be interested, might be fun to have another D&D episode 2 years later..?
I absolutely love these for D&D and can't wait to use them! Also when I play I usually ask my players to either point buy or roll 4d6 (dropping the lowest) depending on their comfort with rolling.
I use to have DragonStrike!! My brother and I wore out the tape but I think he still has the rest. Also the Kolbold Cooler was a big hit for my nondrinking players. Thank you very for these recipes. Tonight we will be trying the Tavern punch as I send forth my hero's into the mines

I subbed for many reasons, if i could sub twice from everything you said in the opening, and then the 40k bit on top? how do you not have a billion subs, like, honestly. 40k drink when?
Just shot Fenrisian ale. Not sure exactly when it’ll make it to youtube but it’s coming
@@howtodrink thank the Emperor
Did this man just casually admit to playing Wraith: the Oblivion? I've never seen such a bigger TTRPG flex thrown down so casually, what an immense and chaotic energy this man has. I'll subscribe.
Greg: Mentions Dragonstrike
Me: Oh God, that VHS
Greg: shows clips from that VHS
Now I need to try and forget that VHS all over again
Never heard of it
"I played a lot of Warhammer Fourty Thousand"
*Confused 40K noises*

For The Emperor!

Burn the heretic!
Greg, have you seen the DnD Cocktail book Gnimsh&Gnumsh’s Book of Marvelous Mixtures? It’s on Kickstarter and will be shipped in December, Can’t wait til I get mine!!
A very rare case where you're featuring something I've actually tried before - Viking Blod is good shit.
Okay. This one finally motivated me to subscribe after the fun of The Pan Galactic Gargleblaster, Romulan Ale and absinthe. You're rolling a twenty, my man.
Now me and the party can get thoroughly sauced while we murderhobo to spite our DM
But think of all the DM braincell lives you will end!

DEATH TO THE FALSE EMPEROR!
@@techno_tuna The phrase "false emperor" implies there's a correct emperor, so in any case there IS a god-emperor. Checkmate, heretics.
I still have all of my 2nd Edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons books, and every dungeon module TSR ever produced. Too bad I no longer have anyone I know that plays. I'm a DM without players. Sucks.
Yo, you use Discord?
Mind's donacdum#8603

Absolutely no one:
Greg: "That's a bung, and that's a bunghole."
And Cornholio needs TP for it!!!
I was gonna have dnd on Friday and drinking on saturday but I could totally pull of combining them after this :D
Drunk dnd is rather fun when your party is chaotic evil
I think that's the first time I've heard someone say "thousand" when referring for 40k

Shiro there is so much content in Harry Potter for drink ideas. He did a butter beer though.
That Community episode continues to be the best portrayal of D&D I've ever seen
Just recently discovered your videos. I love them a lot, most especially with the Cowboy Bebop video. Your presentation shares the same vibe/ambiance with Critical Role's Between the Sheets Series. While the show format is different, maybe it's the jazz and the alcohol that gives me the same vibe. Keep up the great content man.
Extra nnnnnerd points: I was painting Warhammer 40K minis while watching this video.
Lol, I was planning my session for this weeks game. DND 5e.
Can there be a D&D HTD meet up thing? I never played, but I've seen a ton of it. Likes count as petition signatures, for this idea.
Our campaign parties start out as LOTR, but end up as Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Stolen from a meme, but absolutely true.
It's so true, it's tough to avoid that
Sometimes it fun to not even try avoiding everything evolving into Run Away!, Run Away! and Tim the Enchanter
@@jacobwilson8579 We had a Paladin, who worshiped some god of chance. Every decision he made was left up to a coin toss. It made trying to sneak around a dungeon damn near impossible, due to him kicking down doors, and running headfirst into hoards of goblins. @howtodrink
I like how he included something for the kiddos. Very epic of you HTD
You definitely have to make some World of Darkness drinks!!! Blood drinks, fifth essence and rage drinks. It would be awesome!
This is perfect! Now we can really role play our drunken masters, the AA meetings, and the tavern brawls.
Alright im creating a 40 Facts on the cocktails of 40K this week just for you Greg. Lets get your spin on the grim dark cocktail of to 41st millennium
OneMindSyndicate YEEEEAAAAAHHHHHH
Sam Adams used to make a Braggot called “Honey Queen” which was widely available. Not sure if they make it anymore but it was very good.
I found how2drink a week or so ago, and I have to say, Greg is quickly becoming my favorite UA-camr! This video just put the nail in that coffin
"Hard to find commercially available braggots..."
Me, in Oregon, works at a restaurant with 36 taps, a company specializing in braggots had a tap takeover a few months ago.
Michael Whaley Us Oregonians have it so lucky. All of the craft breweries in our state, man, I live less than 4 miles from the Rouge Brewery in Newport. Great restaurant too.
I'm shocked you don't play as a "homebrewed" Alchemist character! Watching you make drinks on this show, you might as well be an alchemist/potion maker!
I'd play the hell out of a bartender alchemist!
Flash gits, drinkin' 'umie drinks 'stead of 'da good fungus beer!
Why did I read "MILD EARTHY SWEET" as 'Middle Earthy Sweat'?
Made with real Fellowship sweat!
Mmmmhh needs more Hobbit juice
Space wolves? Pre codex Grey knights? How Greg keeps getting cooler and cooler, I'll never know. Lovely episode as always, keep up the amazing work!!
OMFG!! This was SO SO good!! Perfect for dipping over a long time, good with ice or room temperature, and made us all feel like we were playing in a real medieval tavern. Thanks for the recipe!! Excited to watch more videos.
Me: "Sweet! DnD drinks!"
Also Me: "Needs more Dakka..."
ADD RED, GET DRUNK FASTER!
A lot of Warhammer 40k you say? ...when are we getting Amasec?
At some point, though I always figured I'd start with whatever Fabius Bile had in those syringes.

I’m happy to see you using mead!
Btw i changed my flavors that i commented about a while ago. Now i have raspberry, strawberry, blackberry, and soon will have bottles of watermelon and apple pie aging (apple pie will be apple, cinnamon, and all spice)
OMG I love that video! I haven't heard ANYONE reference Dragon Strike IN YEARS! Oh the nostalgia. . . You're the best
The similarities between Greg and my high school chem teacher keep adding up
I didn’t know they actually served drinks in the taverns I just thought that’s where you kill the bar tender
Jack Kohlruss Ok murder hobo
Nah dude, the point of taverns is to flirt with your bartender then rob everyone blind
You'll like 5e. It's a good system.
I played a 5th ed game that ran a couple years I just haven’t run it yet
@@howtodrink It's amazing to DM in 5e. I think I'd prefer to DM 5e than 3.5 tbh. But I do like 3.5 still so... It's hard to say I have a favorite.
I tried to make the health potion a bit herbal and medicinal.
man you got me with your drinks...but you conquered me walking in with your manuals! That was the moment!
Who rolled a one and accidentally killed a teammate?
@Michael Hinojosa
I had a tpk thanks to botched rolls once, back when we used the “nat ones damage yourself” house rule.
The first death was a tragedy, the second a frustration, the third a comedy, the fourth hilarious. When the fifth and last party member died by falling off a rickety bridge as he ran from everything we failed to kill before we all agreed it was the best way the game could have ended.
Good times!
Yeah "Accidentally"....
I dropped our wizard off a floating Isle on accident, cursed dice and all that
I mean, does intentionally killing a member count, since a, it was out only means of escape and b, he agreed to it?
I rolled 0 on a 99% success, killing myself trying to cure myself from lycantropy
You should host a how to drink DnD campaign with Babish
Yessss.
ok this is _magic_ , I just started getting into DnD and now this plops into my YT feed XD huzza
I'm so glad that you revealed your nerd power level! As a fellow nerd, that just makes watching you all the better. Cheers!
My God I LOVE how much of a nerd you are! Your chats about White Wolf at the beginning made me soooooooo happy 😁
Made the Tavern Ale for my game last night, excellent!
"You guys ready to roll"
Spits drink out laughing.
Oh my goodness watching the whole process is mouth watering. And I love the attention to detail, the interesting facts and all that!
We always called mead with hops "frog mead."
Hey, Greg! The TV show/movie 'M*A*S*H' featured drinking fairly heavily; any chance of doing a 4077th-themed episode?
"this guy's a f*cking nerd"
Yes you are, Greg. That's why I'm here!
As someone who loves DnD/RPGs and mead, I'm glad you had both in this video.
I use to have DragonStrike!! My brother and I wore out the tape but I think he still has the rest. Also the Kolbold Cooler was a big hit for my nondrinking players. Thank you very for these recipes. Tonight we will be trying the Tavern punch as I send forth my hero's into the mines
