Dana, you are the most loving, gentle, and patient mother ever. 🥰So happy to see the progress on your container home. Maybe decking the area between the kitchen and the next container and closing off either end, to make an "outside room". You can put a couch and a dining table, a small wood stove there and use it all seasons. Maybe even put on one end a small outside shower that can put a collapsible tub in for showers and baths, when it gets cold at the wall tent shower. Blessings to your family.
Thank you so much 🥰 those are some truly kind words!! And what an idea! I can really see imagine it the way you describe, will keep that idea in mind ❤ Thank you!!
Oh wow, that is such a cool idea with the fold out stools! Thank you, Julia! Will definitely add that to the list of considerations :) Wishing you a really nice week ❤
Kitchen looks great! Decking that area sounds like a great idea. What about adding a small flip up table to the opposite wall in the kitchen with a couple of stools (made out of wood hanging on the wall out of the way)for when you are entertaining?❤️✨
We too have an outside covered courtyard which we use as a dining space in the warm weather. It’s perfect for so many other occasions too so I’m sure if you do that you will pleased if Lou’s plan goes ahead. Your sweet boy is growing so strong - walking will come soon. Then you will need skates to keep up with him 🫣😂
Oh that is so nice to hear, thank you! And haha you had me laughing with the skates!! I can definitely see that, too ❤ Sending big hugs to you, bluepoodle!
The way Lou is cutting that reminds me of something. My mom made it when we were kids growing up. It was called potato cand, and you made it with mashed potatoes and white powdered sugar into a dough. Then you rolled it out, and you spread it with peanut butter and jelly if you want. Mom usually just put peanut butter on ours, and roll it up, then cut it just like Louis doing. She would stick it in the freezer and let it get really cold, and you can just take it out. and eat it was something I grew up on. I'm pretty sure it was one of the old recipes when people were poor because I'm 67 years old now. I love the place 😍 it is really coming together.
That's great you've gotten help/energy from a friend. I love your tent kitchen because it is so open. Your container kitchen reminds me of my little galley kitchen.
Thank you so much for spending some time with us via the video and sharing such nice words, Alexandra ❤ Hope you have been having a lovely week! Big hugs x
What a lovely space you created, i love it! How about a fold down table and seat, attached to the wall as a little accommodating option? it would be also a possibility of sharing the space while one is cooking and the other one doing Things on the tiny table as Well as more space expandable for putting Things while cooking, and when you don't need it, it's just a Board on the wall (and of course a possible canvas for your Art)
Dana there are these transforming tables that im sure Lou could build you. They fold out to be benches and you can keep them along the wall in the decked area and then when your guests come you turn the bench into a seat and half table and join it with the other one and you lock them in the bottom like woth the mechanism of a regular table with a leaf extension. And they are AMAZING. You can make them as long as you like for more people.❤
Give yourself permission to go thru phases. Step 1-get stuff into your kitchen. Step 2-once you've used the space for a bit and id what is working and what isn't, rearrange, add, modify. Repeat step 2 til its working the way you need it to. I am in the same place tho a different context since our home burned down, but in that exciting putting it back together phase and I've realized that the spaces will evolve over time as we figure out how we're using this new space. Have fun, enjoy and let it be a process!
Oh my goodness, I am so sorry to hear about your house burning down! Sending big hugs ❤ Thank you so much for sharing your insight about the process and taking time, that is a good reminder. Much love to you and we wish you all the best in your new space! xx
This is a great show again and the kitchen build is coming together quickly. The drawers especially are well planned especially for a small dishwasher later. A good and functional design. Don't forget to reserve one drawer for Max' cooking utensils and pots and pans for him to make good noises with.
What a sweet boy you have there. They’re especially adorable when they’re just waking up. That place has so much potential. Love the idea of the alfresco eating area for yourselves and guests. Screened in of course!
It is so lovely to see you being excited about the kitchen and coming up with ideas on the spot Dana 😊 And how wonderful you had help from your friend to build the kitchen together. Beautiful work Lou and Friend 👍🙂 I love how you made that yummy recipe together, involving little Max 💗 And what a beautiful garden space you have to grow food on, have animals roaming around and to relax and play in. Good luck and much joy with your homestead journey! 💜💙💚💛🧡❤
Thank you!! Love the hearts of the whole rainbow, what a joyful way to end your super kind comment!! Thank you so much for all the encouragement ❤ Sending big hugs xx
Your kitchen is beautiful and totally understand the excitement of what to put where Dana. Loved watching you cooking and it looked delicious, I will have to try that. So relieved you are all safe and the fires didnt reach you. Have a wonderful week x
Omg your kitchen looks amazing made by the hands of Lou and Noah. What can be more special? That gnocchi tastes better when all the family help . Sending love to Canada and hope everyone stays safe. X
Thank you so much, Rebena! ❤So right about the gnocchi tasting better when everyone helped :) Hope you are having a really nice Wednesday! Sending love to you in Canada xx
You could also put a couple of shelves in the big window in the kitchen and put some plants the floating shelves on the wall sounds good it’s coming along nicely 👍💕
Ground almonds and paprica are a good substitute for cheese on top of gnocchi also I grill my cooked gnocchi and make them crispy before I add sauce.... (Bavisimi voi per i gnocchi!!!!)
Your bath outside is so peaceful ❤, I fear the big animals sneaking up though😮 The best thing about a baby's sleep schedule is they allow you to have time to unwind or do things you need to do. My daughter works 12 hr shifts (LVN) and currently taking RN classes. Because it's a tough course, you have a set time for classes due, homework etc, so for her it's a necessity. Not sure this makes sense. I know y'allslife has been way more "romantic❤" And all the things you've accomplished, it's not the same retrace life we live. And you strive for beauty and serenity ❤. Love your pace😊 In future he needs a schedule for school I've got friends who let their kids free choice everything and now have zero control because there were no boundaries. It has become heartbreaking. Lol, I realize this is way early in your journey, but this bubbled up in my mind. Prayers and continued blessings on YOUR family journey. ❤❤
Wow, the kitchen looks awesome! Yeah, it's amazing what a difference it makes having even one other person to help, and esp. like you said, someone with experience and from outside the sphere. I agree, i feel like it's felt chaotic lately... great video guys! Take care, the moments can fly by :D ❤💚💙🧡🌅🌿
Your home is going to be beautiful when you finish it because you had friends and family who helped build and create it which filled it with their love for you and your family. I might suggest that you turn the space in between the two containers into a 3-4 season room or flexible space that can change or transform depending upon what you need at any given time. It would allow you to entertain large groups for various special occasions and still allow you to have open spaces for your son to play even when the weather outside is rainy or to cold or snowy. If you insulate the floor and walls which could have windows and a door on each end or wall panels created like sips that could be removed if you want to open up the ends. Because if you enclose the whole length of the container or start the wall 2-3 feet in you could create a porch like protected space that would allow you to enter or leave without rain or snow from getting inside and you could leave wet or muddy boots and shoes outside and not track it inside. Just some ideas.
Those are some really wonderful ideas!! Especially the protected space that allows the rain or snow to stay outside, that is so smart! Thank you, Meira, definitely going to consider ❤
They're good dog parents. We are only seeing a snippet of their time together. I'm sure Freya gets plenty of love. She looks pretty included in the videos. Plus a child requires and deserves more attention.
Hello all. My mom and I have enjoyed watching your journey from the beginning. However, we will no longer be watching for the following reason, we are very upset and saddened by your treatment of Freya in regards to her interaction with Max. His life would be so much richer if he was allowed to interact with Freya freely. We were watching your latest video and had to stop when we saw the three of you in the playpen and Freya on the outside looking in. It was heartbreaking! We respect your right to parent Max as you see fit, but for Max's sake, please reconsider letting him interact with Freya freely. We're very sad that we will not see where your journey takes you, but we can't stand to see Freya excluded from the family circle any longer. Best wishes to your family.
It was probably just easier in the moment to jump in the playpen with Max. Dogs don't need to be included in the food preparation. In later scenes Max is outside the playpen with Freya. You're just just seeing a few moments in time where they filmed.
This is a great show again and the kitchen build is coming together quickly. The drawers especially are well planned especially for a small dishwasher later. A good and functional design. May I suggest fold out stools from the walls in your kitchen to make them unique like your home , the kitchen is all coming along so nicely xxx
Oh wow, that is such a cool idea with the fold out stools! Thank you, Julia! Will definitely add that to the list of considerations :) Wishing you a really nice week ❤
If you guys ever need a break, come visit us in northern Italy ❤

Oh Dana you look and sound so excited. It’s so refreshing to watch you and your family loving life. Much love and respect from Australia 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thank you, Leoni ❤ Sending the biggest hugs to you in Australia!!
Dana I love how excited you are seeing the progress on your kitchen. I’m watching you and grinning from ear to ear as you open and close the drawers.
Haha thank you so much, I got giddy right back just reading your comment ❤Thanks!!
Your home is coming along so well!!
Missed you guys last week, but glad you had a respite from the smoke!
Lovely to see Max enjoy his cooking! His wee face, so cute. You two rock not missing out! Thanks for another lovely video x
Thank you so much for spending some time with us via the video and sharing such nice words, Alexandra ❤ Hope you have been having a lovely week! Big hugs x

Maybe you could utilize the office space as a social space in colder weather.
You are such a pioneer!
Loving your kitchen!!! ❤you guys have worked so hard! Thank you for sharing your life with us.
Thank you, Mellameow ❤ So grateful for your encouragement! Hope you are having a nice week ❤

It's so true, those first moments waking up are so precious ❤ Thank you so much, Sandra!
Have you thought about getting another pup? for company of current shepard.
Connecting the 3 containers through doors in a U shape would have even easy to don't have to go outside from room to room
omg max is looking more and more like lou every day!
Looks like alot of fun making gnocchi! And delicious too!

Have you ever thought of putting another container on top of the other containers.
What beautiful shots

Raaaaa that warmed my heart so much
embrace the chaos... good stuff
Thank you for showing your amazing kitchen AND about naoki (sp) Is the sauce a basic pasta sauce? I've never had it😊
We have the haze here also in Rhode Island
Hopefully you clear more trees from around your containers a fire break...
Bedtime isn't for children; it's for adults!
Max in Potato Heaven!
Oh no, there’s no toe kick on the cabinets 😮 There’s an ergonomic reason for toe kicks
And if you watch the guys’ feet while working on the cabinets you can see why the toe kick is necessary
Cute :)
❤
With sincere concern I want to ask why you got a gas stove?
Nice work on the kitchen. Does the dog get any attention? it just seems from the vid it's completely ignored in favour of the child.
Don’t forget Freya has a job to do on the farm too. Lou has spent so much time training her. Remember the rescue trick? Pretty bad ass
Lol good grief
They're good dog parents. We are only seeing a snippet of their time together. I'm sure Freya gets plenty of love. She looks pretty included in the videos. Plus a child requires and deserves more attention.
