I love how he's like "we're the baddest team you'll ever see" and then backs up his point by swaying on the staircase with his friends while one plays saxophone.

We owe it all to Jim Orazio, who created the Diamonds when there was hardly any American Football in Britain. He suggested to me that the team needed a song, Rap was then fairly new - I was then writing and presenting a weekly show on Radio Clyde called "American Eye," and talking live on-air with Bob Slade of WRKS - "Kiss-FM" in NYC -

We had to film it at short notice in December 1986 - to get it finished in time for the Superbowl in January 1987 - see About This Video above!

I cannot stop watching this video. Those random upskirt shots must have been revolutionary in the 80's

My dads number 26 (Sean D) and he's the one directly left of the sax player on the stairs
utter hilarity, we all watched it last night and had fun laughing at him :D
Called up another member of the old team (Ian L) but dont know what he number was
though this song is the greatest american football song ever, thought my dad was taking the piss years ago when he said the song they were singing in remember the titans ("we are the titans mighty mighty titans") was tribute to the diamonds :D

Bob had spoken a lot about Rap on my show - I wrote the song and asked Dortmund Brian if he would make the video - Jim Orazio & the Diamonds put up the dough. It was produced by Bill Padley (who grew up to co-create the media company Wise Buddha w/yet *another* Radio Clyde alumnus Mark Goodier, and who also produced Atomic Kitten's cover of "Eternal Flame")

    - and Grant Mitchell, whom I had known at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama and who arranged & played keyboards for Julia Fordham back in the '80's...The best part about all this has been the swift maturing of one of my daughters - who has gone from craven cringing in embarassment to something pride in her Old Man.....in about three weeks! Thanks for posting this, Brian! (- Paul B.)

I worked alongside Paul at a Call Centre in Glasgow . He was still working there when I left which was only 2 months ago. The Call Centre is Response.
Whilst we were training, this video cropped up whilst I was training with Sky Customer Services and which Paul was also doing at the same time. Hope that helps.

This is without a doubt THE funniest video on youtube....simply because of how quentesentially 80's it is AND meerly because it begs the question why are an american football team even making a song?...more to the point, why did Glasgow ever even have an all singing all dancing American Football team hahaha...LOVE IT

Well I just saw this video with my son Bruno and we did laugh. Oh I do remember thoese days. They were great. I know there are many of the old players who commented on it . They also know how much of it was fun and hard work. I just talked to Jim Orazio(my husband) on the phone to tell him to look at it, so I hope he posts a comment.

Of course the Diamonds were household names in their day. There was Big Gus, Tommy Boy, Donny 'The Shoe' McDoo and who could forget legendary quarterback Diamond Jimmy Rogers.
People may joke that all 80s raps sounded the same but it was the law back then.
