Actually it is both. Cause after that Yuna says “he is a vengeful spirit back from the grave to slaughter the mongols” she wouldn’t say that if Jin just fought like a Samurai. Because if you remember Jin’s Uncle said that a samurai must always fight with respect to his enemy, Jin fights with no respect towards the mongols. Jin obviously has hatred in his heart for the mongols cause they killed his whole clan and they do unthinkable things to his people. No wonder Jin lost it.

Jin's speech at the end of the siege always brings me to tears. It sounds even better, emotional, and more impactful in Japanese . When the people of Yarikawa bow to him with the glorious music soaring in the background, is when the floodgates really open and I'm an emotional wreck. Peak gaming and epic cinemaphotography, the best. Hopefully they do this pivotal moment justice in the movie when it eventually comes out.
what truly resonates with me regarding the game as a whole, is Jin's personal code to protect and the sheer willingness to sacrifice himself for the sake of others. never once he places himself on a pedestal or ahead of anyone else.
At the end of the mission, when everyone bowed to Jin, OMG!!! i cried watching that. i didn't know a game was capable of doing that to me until in i played "THE GHOST OF YARIKAWA'. That was indeed PEAK CINEMA!!!!!
I like how Jins transition into the ghost is almost like a monk breaking his chastity. You carry the same guilt that Jin does for every mongol you gut. It is just so so good.
I still cant get over the reveal of ghost stance in my first playthrough. I am so lucky that nobody spoiled it for me, and my experience with it is so nostalgic.
I loved that mission, the true difference in that one scene was shocking, the entire atmosphere the expressions, everything. It felt like the entire game changed after that
Ghost of Yarikawa is was such a good turning point for the game. It really set the tone for what was to come with the next half of theg game. The siege of Yarikawa reminds me a lot of a samurai version of Helms deep from Lord of the Rings. Both battles start with the enemy vast in numbers and strength, and both battles end with the enemy running in fear as the hero(s) sacrifice everything to claim victory. Still so curious too see how Sunker Punch tops Ghost of Tushima's story with Ghost of Yotei.

Played this game at launch on Playstation but I have just played through the main game again on PC over the last couple of weeks and I had forgotten how amazing this game is. In the small details all the way to the cinematic feel of the game; with the stand-offs; the duels; riding through vast fields of pampas; cleaning blood off your katana before sheathing it; composing haiku's; contemplating in a hot spring; bowing to an NPC and having them bow back; navigating with the wind. The Ghost of Yarikawa mission, I think is the peak of this games storytelling and there are many other great moments. It is such an intense mission with both an empowering and emotional pay-off. I think the only other 'mission' that comes close to the emotional pull is the duel at the end of the main campaign but that's a sad moment and not an empowering one since neither choice you are asked to make is a good one, so to speak. Anyway, thanks for posting this video, caught it at just the right time with that mission fresh in my memory again. Appreciated.
Great video my friend 🔥 You deserve more Subs The thing I loved about this game was that when I started playing the game, I tried to stick to the Samurai code as taught by Lord Shimura. I wanted to play the game like an honorable Samurai. At times when we had to break the code as part of story progression, I found it hard just like how Jin Sakai, as the protagonist found it hard to break the Samurai code. I love how me, as a player, and Jin Sakai as the protagonist faced the same struggle with breaking the Samurai code. I don't know if every players have experienced the same. But as the game progressed, it made sense to choose other tactics. choosing to fight from the shadows was initially hard as it felt dishonourable but as the story of the Ghost progresses and Jin Sakai slowly transforms into the Ghost of Tsushima, the story convinced me to fight dirty. I initially thought the story was going to be boring but the game mechanics and story are so blended together in this game in a wonderful way. I love how the player also goes through a sort of character development similar to Jin Sakai to ultimately become the Ghost. This game is an absolute gem ❤❤
ISTG the first time i played this mission, at the point where the samurais were shouting "For Yarikawa" I got hyped and teary eyed and yelled it myself. Goddayum, I wish I could play this game again for the first time.
Brilliantly put together video and has made me fire up the game (finally) for NG+ just to experience this great story again. The way Jin struggled to see what you had to do and accepting that becoming the ghost was necessary and forgoing himself to become something greater than himself was truly a spectacle, I bring this up only because I struggle to see how the second game can capture the same feeling without being one for one. But ive been wrong before Great video man 🫡
Idk about all this, my Jin was a very honorable Samurai, only using stealth tactics when the game forced me to. The story did kind of rail road us into being shinobi-lite, but that's certainly not how I played it. Very fun game and very interesting video essay on how Jin becomes the Ghost.
@gamerpsychos Oh, he still brutally killed thousands of people. Just gave them the common courtesy of letting them know beforehand that they would die and there was nothing they could do about it, not even run. Jin is a bit like Michael Meyers in that regard.

I just played this mission like yesterday after almost a year since I last played this game. It was so fkn epic, I literally left it in this mission. I had barely time to process or remember what was going on. I even forgot the abilities and combos or how to play. It was so epci bc I often lose against these bosses bc my game barely hold 30 fps and since u have no abilities, when the game sttuters I get the hit. I once died like 30 times to a boss, and I had PTSD of Sekiro, a game I quit at Genichiro for like 3 years before finishing the game in one go. So when of course I died immediatly againts the boss b of the rust I felt that feeling of frustration I hate. But then I remembered what Sekiro and Ghost teached me. Patience. So I took a deep breath and Just demolished the boss just to get this epic moment and I was NOT expecting this. Oh holy jesus mother fucker christ I was so full of energy. Sadly after 1 hour of gameplay my pc started to die, so the game went to 10 fps, so I had to go to sleep. Epic sadness

One of my favorite missions in the game
Your video is the real PEAK CINEMA. This mission was in fact the part that I liked the most in the game so far, it got me hooked to the game. Just cinema.
Tremenda obra maestra 20/10 y god.

Great storytelling brother
Amazing video for an amazing game. Subbed
