I remember in my early childhood my Pawpaw singing this song, and I learned the words from him. I also watch the tv show about Casey Jones. I forgot the actor's name, but I 'think' that he played the Captain on Gilligan's Island. I only knew the song was a story about a real 'engineer' that died on his train. And i knew this because my Pawpaw told me. That old man told me a lot of true stories, some historical, and some about people he knew. And I listened to every word he said. And because he talked like he knew these people, Casey Jones has always been a real person to me.

The only Casey Jones song I heard was the Greatful Dead version and according to that song he was high on cocaine

Not true. The band changed the lyrics. He was running behind on time and was trying to make up time for his train. He ran into the back of a freight train that was parked on the line instead of pulling into a siding since Casey was running a passenger train which had right of way on the road.

@@hourlynewscaster how can I find out more because this has to be the right accident and what can I do now anyway any info would be great and Casey may have not been saved on purpose if he was an honest man and they were trying to cover up sumthin they wouldn't want him alive better to die a hero then to live with killing someone or the train company having to pay out money
