Had a 69 Camaro back in the day (1972) and had a mean sound to it. Then it wasn't so bad in the neighborhood because back then everyone's car had a mean sound to it. Not as loud as this Camaro but you took notice when it passed by. Nice Camaro!

I’m about to cam my 2011 and was wondering about daily driving rmps and mpg? I’ve heard you have to be above 2k to keep it from kicking/bucking and mpg is about 10
@@prometheus3864 Hi there, it’s actually a GPI SS4 cam, besides the cam I change pushrods, springs,valve seals,valve seats, oil pump. For a 93 tune you don’t need to change your injector or pump. Yes the car will fight you a little when under 2k but it’s nothing exaggerated unless your tuner it’s not good.

No I didn’t because the car had only like 45k miles at the time but honestly I would recommend. Do it once and do it right. 👍

Sounds nice allready had the f35 texas speed but now have another engine and can decide between ss4 or f35
For what I’ve heard in the forums and Fb pages SS4 is dominating the f-35 cam by quite bit. Me personally can’t really tell tú since I only had this one.

Hey brother, so are you referring to exhaust note or cam chop? As far as exhaust goes. I have 1 7/8 lint tubes back then was 2.5” with xpipe and nothing else in between just straight pipes no cats no resonators no mufflers. As far as cam goes I have a GPI SS4 cam. That’s it there’s nothing else. Well tune might affect a little bit that I can’t tell you. Here are the exact specs I got For the cam

This is a staggered setup 20x10 front and 20x11 rear 285/30 and 305/30. This is the zl1 setup and in my opinion it handles great

This is a GPI camshaft SS4 camshaft car will need a 3.91 or 4.10 gearing and a 4600-5000rpm stall converter this is for naturally aspirated engines using a stock LS3 they have other camshafts that are less aggressive this cam is pretty serious at least for me for a daily driver but for weekend cruiser more of a serious street cam this cam has .646/637 lift and 236/252 duration it's a pretty big cam for street driving this is the type of cam that once you shift out of 1st gear you want to keep the engine in the 5000-7200rpm range so gearing helps keep it at this rpm range at wide open throttle or your shifting throughout the gears this cam will not like a real heavy car or big rpm drops below 4500rpm when shifted to the next gear at full throttle I'd imagine this cam would be pretty choppy from idle to 2000-2200rpm until it smooths out for street driving your giving up some low speed torque below 4500rpm but it really shines in the upper rpm range this cam in a car turning 7200rpm sounds amazing and it should get you in the 10.50s in the quarter mile if use get all the matching parts for the application gears and stall converter a good tune by a professional tuner suspension mods drag radials

It will depends on many factors,
How many miles on engine?
Auto or manual?
Daily or weekend toy?
In my case, it was pretty low miles,manual and not a daily. So I didn’t changed mine. But otherwise should be required just for piece of mind. I didn’t want to pull the heads so that’s why I didn’t changed mine at that point. But let of my next mods list is to change lifters and valve train so I can rev it higher without so much concern

@@JohnSmith-bn7bl it’s definitely low mileage, but those stock auto lifters won’t like the high lift of the SS4, plus i figure you would do the amf/dod delete kit which you will be pulling heads anyways so you might as well get you a set of good lifter recommended by the GPI team. That way you are making sure that everything is the way it should be and it will be a big insurance for your engine

Thanks dude, still running stock injectors and stock pump and no problem. I have ZR1 injectors waiting to get installed and probably will be going with zl1 pump for E-85.

Hey! It gained 81whp I’m street tune, it’s running a very conservative tune, I’m sure the car could have pushed a little more. It’s 482whp and 441wtq. I’m still using stock clutch with 60k miles on car. Honestly the clutch it’s fine on the street but once I put the drag pack and took it to the track it started slipping. So yeah unless you have a fairly new clutch or you are not planning on going to a track with slicks you could keep the stock otherwise save some money for a better one if your goal it’s to beat on it on the track. ✌️😬

What stall converter do you have ?
It’s actually a stick shift car so no converter here 😊 but don’t worry you are not the first that ask me that, ever since the cam swap I have to keep the clutch in a little longer than normal so sometimes it sounds like it has a big stalk converter
Can you pass emissions where your at for the inspection?
Absolutely not, luckily for me we not get the cars inspected like other states! 🙌

@@Kenny_2ss thanks for responding. Yeah we are excited and I had concerns about the 345s but your Camaro looks like it's running well with them. I use Andrew Cammer at GPI and he suggested 391 or 410 and a hendrix offset if I was lowered any.

You have both options, whichever works best for you. Me personally I’m in Florida and I truly wanted to take my car to them but they are in Arkansa so is a long drive, so I end up doing everything myself.

I put a 1 7/8 off-road long tube headers meaning no catalyst in my car. I also removed the resonators and mufflers. I added an Xpipe in the middle and I’m still using the factory 2.5 diameter. ✌️😬

Is the factory 6.2 LS3, GPI SS4 cam, vararam Intake, 1 7/8 long tube headers, no cats, no resonators, no mufflers, xpipe and street tune.

You mean power output? I took it to a Dyno for Numbers 482whp and 441wtq on a very very street conservative tune. Car still got lil more in it. Still those numbers are pretty good for what I have 😬
@@Kenny_2ss She sounds amazing man, beautiful car too. Those side skirts you added make the car look so much lower and they look great. These cars look so mean in black. I am running the GPI SS1 in mine, tuned by Ryan at GPI. I am considering going larger with the cam when I get new heads and a stall convertor, and since I am likely staying with GPI the SS4 NFC is a clear choice.

Back then was 482whp and 441wtq on street tune only. Probably could have squeeze few more ponies on a dyno. But the car feels pretty damn good so I never did a dyno section.
Now the car is Procharged but I haven’t been able to take it to the Dyno yet. This time I’ll need a dyno section for sure. Car should be going around 750-800 mark

Well so far the cam I’m using has proven to be a great cam for what I want. If you have a automatic car and you wanted to be street friendly then you need to go with stage 1 or 2 stage 3 and 4 you will need to change a lot more parts in order to make it street friendly. If manual car stage 4 gives me a little bit of cam surge but nothing crazy it’s all in the tune to be honest

im looking to buy a 2010 camero ss manual i am debating because the car has 125,208k miles on it what do yall think?
I’ll say if you getting a good deal and the car was well taking care off, buy it and do oil pump just to be on the safe side since that’s one of the main reasons this engines fail after 100k miles. Besides that you should be good. Just look for all the normal things that you would normally change with time. Spark plugs,wires,alternator,starter. Things like that. Also make sure you give it a good test drive. Make sure the car doesn’t overheat. Also since you should do the oil pump, if you got the extra money you might as well throw a GPI cam in it ✌️😬

Cam it self it’s like $350 to $400 I’m not sure but I went with a full kit so it was I think around 1,300 if I’m not wrong.

Oh sorry. The piston to valve clearance. It’s a big cam and I know lots of people are using it. Just curious how tight it is but usually people don’t measure. My cam wasn’t measured either i’m sure. I have a 230/243 .621/.604 114+4

Thanks! 🙏 I will tell you this, I love my manual car and I would never have an auto. Not leaving out the fact that those 10 speed auto are faster since they shift so quick and keep the car in the power band all the time. But if you don’t care for laps times or track numbers then go with the 6speed. I love it so much!!! You truly feel more connected and in control with the vehicle. Just test drive one! I’m sure I’ll llove it

You will need:
Cam (of course 😉)BTR titanium dual springs,retainers,seats and seals for the valves,
Pushrods, if car is manual with very very low mileage like you could get away without changing the lifters but honestly is always good to change them just for piece of mind, if the car is auto you 100% needs to change lifters. You also need
A high flow high performance oil pump I went with Mellin pump.
If auto I will recommend to get the DOD delete kit. You pretty much will convert the engine from L99 to LS3 by eliminating the VVT system. Some people keep it and say that is good me personally I hate it.
So the price will vary depending on what you have manual I’ll be cheaper than auto because of the DOD delete kit. Also if auto with this cam you will probably need to change the converter
If manual you will probably need to change from stock clutch to at least a twin disk.
For regular driving the stock clutch is good and even for street racing but once you put some slicks and take it to the track it will be game over for that stock clutch since it will start to slip once you start abusing it.
I’m still running stock clutch but I just got me a McLeod kit that holds 1000hp. They say it will feel softer than stock but it will bit hard when you need it to.
So price range for manual I think you should be close to 1,500 plus labor with auto I think you will be closer to 2k plus labor.

Well pretty much is its besides the cam everything else internally speaking is stock, Bottom end stock, heads stock intake manifold. Just a cold intake headers and cam car 😁

I’m not gonna argue that... 😞😒 because it’s absolutely true. I hate going to drive thru with my car. I think that’s the only real downside, also when you start it up early in the morning. I feel kind of bad for my neighbors sometimes. Luckily they cool and I normally start it up like after 10am

@@great4ever845 good question, all depends on the car’s back ground. How many miles, what cam kit, turbo or supercharged they went with and always make sure you can get evidence of what what’s done to the car. Sometimes it’s cheaper to buy something already built, but sometimes it could be something bad. You could be buying a timing bomb waiting to go off. So I say it’s a 50/50 answer on this one.
