- We randomized Pokemon our starters, but we won't be able to choose what we want! Instead, we'll have to choose the starter with the lowest BST on the screen! BUT, we'll be able to give it any ability we want! After six rounds of forced trash, we'll build the best teams we can, and have a best of three Pokemon match.

@@onetallpheeesh, of the three shown in that round (Torkoal, Hisuian Lilligant, Hariyama), which would you consider the worst of those three? One could make the argument for Hariyama, sure...but it's nearly as bulky as Torkoal is (it has double the HP, nearly equivalent SpDef, and around half the Defense) and has more to do than Shell Smash Lava Plume/Eruption (Hariyama has access to STAB Upper Hand...people are always scared of Sucker Punch, so a Fighting version coming from Hariyama is a frightening thought).
Either way, though, Shady's explanation of "worst" gave Vinny the Torkoal...Lilligant is 480, Hariyama is 474, Torkoal is 470; of those last two (since H Lilligant is a *beast* normally), Torkoal has the worst weaknesses.

Yeah, I was interested what you are gonna say but it got cut off. I'mma dislike this vid
I thought of a fun concept for how to pick starters. What if every round you "bet a stat." What I mean is each round you pick one of the six stats and bet it - E.G. "This round i bet attack!" and then you turn around and HAVE to pick whatever pokemon has the highest attack. You do this once for each stat to build a team. Meaning before you look you just have to go on faith. "I bet special defence" and when you turn no matter what is there you must pick the pokemon the best special defence. After you do so once for each stat you have a team. If multiple mons have an exact matching number and it's the best then you get to pick between them. - Personally i feel this has some really fun built in tension and fun reveals.

Shady, since Killowattrel flies it doesn’t get the boost from electric terrain. You still get the special attack buff which is nice, but something to keep in mind
Are we sure the special attack buff is still there? I was reading the ability and it sounds like it doesnt.
@@IronwolfXVI Nah it says "energizing its futuristic engine". It's an example of a move that boosts stats without explicitly stating it like when Unburden doesn't mention the Speed increase.
@@IronwolfXVI, Orichalcum Pulse doesn't mention Attack being boosted, either. The boost is definitely still there, even if the user doesn't benefit from the main effect.

This was such a fun concept for a video. A breath of fresh air instead of seeing 2 teams of the same legendaries and paradox mons.
@@scaryterry8789 but with same Monkey Brain abilities. Ho ho ho Monkey hits hard monkey powerful monkey like. They should use other good abilities to make it fun and fresh and also to do some sick plays instead of mindless huge power Pure Power and swords and beads of ruin

I love this theme. Being forced to use some underused pokemon is really fun.
The BG3 reference was great! I loved that short lived Let's Play. The brightest stars burn out the fastest.
We need Shady to run it back but with the boys this time. It would be fun to see each of the lads playing a different dnd class.
The switch to Ninetails felt like a throw and then Shady didn't use T Wave the next turn and the real throw became clear 😂.

After a quick check, Vinny built what’s effectively a regular Torkoal, but rapid spin hits slightly harder than normal while sun is active since OPulse boosts physical attack
To be fair, there’s not too much Torkoal would do even with the physical moves to abuse the ability in full but it JUST being rapid spin is hilarious in any case
damn, Shady not bringing magic bounce when Vinny basically told him that he got prankster hazards was ballsy, i would've totally went magic bounce on Vinny all the way :D

Team total BST cannot exceed 3000
One extra twist: randomized abilities for the team except the lowest BST mon---any ability.
This could potentially make a 4 beefcake team vs a more well-rounded team of 6. Strategize!

Kilowattrle has a 125 speed stat. Persian has a 115.
However, if both are max speed invested, but only Persian has a speed boosting nature, Kilowattrle has a 349 speed stat while Persian has a 361 speed stat
Vinny trying to bait that Cacturne doesn't have Sucker Punch and Torkoal not having Rapid Spin, both of which are staple moves for these mon's 😂

We need to get the committee in on this one. I’d argue 500 breaks the 500 BST threshold and Shady MUST eat a sock on stream.
Everyone making fun of vinny for orichalcum pulse but nobody is mentioning that shady put hadron engine on a flying pokemon who doesn't get the boost cause hes not on the ground😂

Hadron Engine still boosts its special attack by 1.3 even if its not grounded, it just doesnt get the 1.5 to electric moves
This is one of the most creative (and most balanced) twists I've seen in a then we fight, well done shady, you've outdone yourself
I watch these videos whenever I'm down and this video just happened to be posted a few minutes after I got the news that my cat is dying and might have to be put down because he's suffering. I have to watch this through tears but the video does still keep my mind off of it. Best timing to post this Shady!

This was great! It forced competitive battles because there weren’t any legendaries with cracked abilities. Giving the bad mons cracked abilities still made some surprisingly strong Pokémon too.

Do this with Dylan and/or Luke BUT a twist: You have to choose a pokemon that can evolve but you have to use the baby version of them and give them the stats of the fully evolve form and a broken ability. Example: You have to choose Jolteon, meaning you have to choose Eevee with Jolteon's stats and a broken ability.
If I’d do this I would give Pecharunt's ability poison puppeteer (that whenever a Pokemon is poisoned it is also confused) to something to t-spikes.
Not how that works, it has to be from an attack or toxic

Doesn't work, I've checked. It only works on Moves that *directly* poison the opponent.

@@ThePotato99-p4n, only in the right circumstances...and this isn't necessarily the best. You may not know what your opponent has, but drafting Poison Puppeteer lets your opponent know that poison is a strategy and they can then counter-pick an ability to deal with that (likely sewing up Neutralizing Gas, though Immunity also works). Also, if you grab Poison Puppeteer and your opponent has either a Steel or Poison type already, they can relax a little, knowing that they can switch to their "antivenom".
him immediately giving torcoal drought is a perfect example of how just okay pokemon can be made good with their ability as is in game. without the bonus to fire type damage from and the support sun gives torcoal would never be used.
I love this combination Shady and Vinny. I would love to see another Luke, Dylan, Vinny, and Shady series
A similar idea I saw on United's channel that hasn't been done in a while, in case you want to use it; he set the randomizer to only show mons below a certain BST and give it any ability, and I think one illegal move.

It would lose its stab with those abilities. Tinted Lense would have been a good option or protean
Not sure why...not only is the increase lower (Adaptability boosts by 50%, Pixilate/Refrigerate/Aerilate/Galvanize/any others I've missed only boost the move by 20%), changing the move's type also removes the STAB boost (unless Tera is involved). Giving it, for example, Pixilate Double-Edge, gives it access to a Fairy move with an effective BP of 144 (120 * 1.2)...Adaptability Double-Edge, though, reaches an effective BP of 240 (120 * 2) and, in this case, it's slightly higher due to the Silf Scarf usage; in the case you'd normally be using Pixilate DE (say a Fighting type comes out), you'd be better served by using U-Turn and escaping (or hard-swapping, depending on Speed) instead of staying in and hoping that DE would be enough.
This might be the best concept of the last half year. Making bad pokemon work has to be the most satisfying thing in pokemon in GENERAL. I remember bringing Regice, Mr. Mime and Rhyperior to a regionals and doing well with them. It was glorious.

The funniest duo😂 I also think a cool thing would be to make one where pokemon get buffs/debuffs based on bst, so mewtwo would have no item 3 moves while sewaddle any ability and illegal move, and you pick them only knowing their bst (you can choose to evolve or deevolve mons to make it fun)

Idea: randomly pick your starter, keep their ability, but switch the pokemon to one of the same primary typing.
For example, you pick Incineroar and get to keep Intimidate, but Incineroar is replacing with a completely random fire type pokemon
Finally, a best of 3. Yall put too much effort into these to be a one shot

Same! I giggled when I saw Torkoal’s nickname, considering it was the worst of the three Pokémon there. Don’t get me wrong, I liked his character in the beginning, but I’m Team Black all the way, save for being sympathetic towards Helaena and Aegon.

I'm so glad you did this. Its always, "Choose the best starter" or "Make a broken Pokemon." Nobody picks the unused Pokemon. We need more videos of bad Pokemon getting reworked.

A fun idea for one of these would be both players view the same 3 starters, and choose from the same group for all 6 rounds, BUT can give the pokemon they pick any ability. So it’d be interesting if they happened to pick the same one but built them completely different.

What if you did a video where one person takes the worst pokemon and gives them busted abilities, and the other takes the best pokemon but gives them garbage abilities (truant, slow start, etc.) It would be cool to see just how big of a difference the ability can make.
noooooooooo i'm laughing so hard at the hadron engine FLYING TYPE to not get any terrain effects cause it's not standing on the terrain, might still get the sp-atk boost? not sure on that interaction
I feel like he was more banking on the SpAtk boost it gives than the terrain effect, since there's a type that would completely wall anything boosted by the terrain (especially coming from Kilowattrel)...a slightly boosted Hurricane, for example, would be a better play than throwing out a TBolt and hoping a switch/Ground Tera didn't occur.
Man i was so hoping shady would choose pikachu instead of raichu and given it rock head with light ball and volt tackle. that would have been lit

Would love to see some more unique abilities in these videos. Huge power and the likes are pretty overdone (not as big a deal in this video since the Pokémon weren’t already OP legendaries, but still). There are so many cool abilities we rarely see like triage, magic guard, queenly majesty, magic bounce, etc… could be really neat and allow for more interesting matches.
