Offered three contracts, turned them all down, time to move on.
1 He is not the club captain. Reece James is. He was one of the captains. 2. He was offered a contract. He rejected it not once but twice. 3. Football is a business. The club needs to sell now or he comes free from January. The only way to sell a player who tejected a contract with Villa and is clearly showing he wants to stay on his own terms is to force him out. 4 Connor is a good servant of the club, a good player, let us not act like he is half the player of Bruno Fernandes or De Bruyne. He is not one of the top 20 midfielders in the Premier League alone.

You don't need to be a Chelsea supporter to see they are turning Chelsea into a Brighton with more money. Chelsea also sold their academy prospects under Abramovich, but it wasn't players that played for Chelsea, and they weren't replaced by worse players, which has been the case for what Chelsea has acquired under Clearlake.
It works well for Brighton, because they are a small club, thus a constant feeder of players as a middle man club. But Chelsea has been the most successful club in the past 20 years, and they ripped all that apart in 2 years. There is literally no team building at Chelsea. It is just an amalgation of random players bought many of which for a lot of money with nothing to show for it.

Everyone should take any anti Chelsea segment on TalkSport with a grain of salt. Aside from Simon Jordan and Darragh MacAnthony, every other person on this radio station has been itching to speak disparagingly about Chelsea football club ever since the club was bought by the new American owners a few years ago.
Could the club have handled this Connor Gallagher contract situation better? 100% they could and should have. However, if they don’t try to force the sale of Gallagher in this window, then the club could then likely go on to lose him on a free transfer. So therefore they need to get the sale done asap, as it’s imperative with the current rules that are in place to utilise the pure profit from homegrown players that become surplus to requirements.
If you look at the midfielders at Chelsea, and the tiki taka, possession based style that Maresca will live or die by, then Gallagher most likely wouldn’t have been a starter for Chelsea anyway. It’ll be a midfield 3, and the five main midfielders that will be rotating, will be Dewsbury-Hall, Fernandez, Lavia, Chukwumeka and Caicedo
Whatever anything negative said, the stats prove that Gallagher was Chelsea's best performing midfielder. Contract offerred was disrespectful and he was right to refuse. The thing about Gallagher is that he keeps improving and would improve again under Maresca.

Arsenal have been a good in the way they’ve treated smith row in the last couple of seasons and I bet he enjoyed the 500 minutes of total minutes he played for them. He started only three games in the 25 appearances and was subbed off in every match he started. He was even subbed off after coming on as a substitute. So he was treated like a player who had come through the academy and would play his heart out for the club. He also had a transfer blocked by Arsenal in the summer transfer window last season. Maybe the dive pundits on here should get some facts right before they start talking nonsense

Chelsea is going to try to strong-arm Gallagher, but Gallagher has Chelsea over a barrel. If he wants a transfer within the EPL, Chelsea can't force him to go to Spain. If an EPL club as I suspect offers less than Atletico because Chelsea is in a weak bargaining position, Chelsea will have to decide whether to go along with that or to lose him on free at the end of the season. Chelsea needs the transfer fee to provide it with more PSR space in the transfer market.

It's not really the same thing. Smith-Rowe was warming the bench for at least a year, while Gallagher was named captain last season and played more games than anyone in the side.
