I can’t imagine riding at night alone! All I thought about while watching this was the feeling I get at night when I turn the light off and start walking up the stairs - while it’s lit at the top, I can’t help but get that eerie feeling that something is behind me in the darkness…. And that I get in the comfort of my own home lol. Riding in the dark, I imagine I’d just feel like I were being chased…. 😅
I only ride Watershed park at night solo. And even then I like to have my large dog with me. Normally it’s your riding that leaves me impressed, but this time it’s the fact you went out in the North Shore woods at night alone. Well done.
7:04 pretty much the first 5 minutes of every night ride for me until you hit this bizarre threshold of mental tug-o-war with safety instinct and fuck-it-all-just trust your skills. Once I get to that plateau it’s actually quite relaxing NOT staring at all the surrounding distractions that usually serve as reference, input for direction, speed, etc…kinda makes you just trust yourself and the bike. Obviously tends to slow you down a few clicks but that’s fine because when you have an off at night it’s usually worse than when you can see where you’re falling and when you’ll impact. Otherwise, it’s wicked being in the woods in otherwise complete darkness! Yet another sick vid! 👍🏽
Floppy Bunny is also one of my faves in the dark, but it's also about my limit in the dark. Nice ebike and welcome to the dark side. I have a YT Decoy.
Love watching your riding, and you can definitely tell where your trials riding influences your line choice. But riding frozen, skinny log rides, in near pitch black darkness raises only one question in my mind... How do you sit down will balls that big?! 😅
Very impressive, Dave... Next step: Ride "Beyond Expert" in the dark :D PS.: The transitions between daytime and nighttime are smooth af! 11/10 would watch again. PPS.: GOOOSH 8:27 how did you not freak out with this character lurking behind a tree???
Riding in the mountains at night is definitively something you have to try. The ambiance is real weird but super fun! And indeed, when you close all the lights it gets scary fast haha! Is just fun to be able to extend your ride of the day or season. I also used it a lot to set up with the sunset and would ride down the mountain in the dark.
Absolutely loved this! I night ride often and I can definitely relate to trails feeling way gnarlier, but this is in a different world to what I ride. I might shamelessly rip off the night vs day concept though, great idea.
Crazy. I know many do it (for example, Team Average goes out for regular night rides), but I just can’t wrap my mind around riding after dark. I guess you’d stick solely to trails you know well? Did you ride all features on Boogieman for the night ride? Anyway, awesome stuff as always.
I would certainly stick to the trails I know, unless I was with a group of people. With the added layer of risk riding at night, I don't need to worry about getting lost as well. As far as the features on Boogieman, yes I did ride them all, but at a slower pace than usual.
I'd be interested in your thoughts on night riding after a few more rides. It usually takes a few, or several rides to adapt to it each dark season. It typically gets much better, unless you have poor night vision in general. The light combo you had was pretty impressive, but I've always preferred one single on my helmet, as the two lights distract me.
Double Black trails ride with Dangerous Dave who's got Big Balls going down Slippery Snake paths. Youre skills, especially youre awesome breathing technique is what i show to my Breakdance kidz. Dude seriously, to me you are a pioneer. Just an idea: Sailvideosystem- 3rd person.
I love night riding! And I agree with you but jumping he’s pretty tough, I need a lot of info to process in order to launch, and not that there’s not enough info, just always would like more. Although lots of times I will like a night ride over a daytime ride, on a hot summer day it’s much easier and cooler if you can wait until night, although that might be getting pretty late as well. Also the trails are much less used during the time of day so traffic is lessened (we have a lot of two-way trails here in the states, at least here in Cali.)
Cool, you've replaced my fear of being decapitated by a tree or riding off the side of a mountain with the fear of being eaten by a wolf or bear. Neat! 🤣 Nice lights though, I like the external battery. I built my own to get a single battery powering everything, nice to see there are some other options.
amazing video Dave! I wonder: how often during these runs do you sit on your saddle? I am starting to mountainbike but I wonder when you need to be in attack position and when you need to sit down. Thanks again, Dave!
I'm always standing up on descents which is about 95% of this video. The only time I'm sitting down is on the climbs or relatively smooth or flat terrain that doesn't require me to absorb impacts or change my body position a lot.
Is the Ebike new for you? What are your thoughts? I ordered a Norco Sight VLT (Because that's what you ride haha) which was taking too long from suppliers so I got a Trek Rail and I'm loving it!
9:14 - Espresso (Black Drink & Caffeine) 9:14 - Expresso (Black Tech & Flow) .....sorry, I live with an English teacher....it's like a reflex. Boogieman in the dark.....insane!
Magicshine makes some awesome lights - what GoPro setup did you use for the night footage? My stabilization always struggles at night with my normal chest mounted hero 9
I love night rides and riding the same trails the day after. Everything looks, feels and smells different ^^ Big props to you for riding such scary stuff by yourself, especially at night.. spooky 👻
It just occurred to me I know nothing of the nocturnal activities of bears. Do they sleep on trails? I wonder. I know my brain saw at least 27 bears and 400 sets of eyes peering out of the darkness.
Hey, m. night shyamalan, I have a movie idea for you........sends link to DD's 'Night Ride on Boogie Man Trail' vid...... It only makes sense you would do a vid like this, Dave, it just confirms the level of awesome that you have achieved in your riding career. There is NO I am night riding on trails that have bears on them during the day!!!! Shred on, Sir, Shred on.....even at night....Boss Status.
@@Keeyamah2 it sounds strangely "disembodied". I also heard whispered "voices" in the night parts as well. But I can't be sure if it's just animals or the woods themselves at night. Or if it's the brakes!
Interesting to see where your head is pointed. You kind of get the idea with the helmet cam, but having the literal spotlight just emphasizes it. Is the blacklight-ish effect from the lights or from adjusting light balance in post? I can't imagine you edited it much if at all; it would kind of defeat the purpose of showing off the lights if you did too much.
The transitions between day and night are super smooth. Awesome editing, and riding too!
Me, at home eating pizza, going outside once a week: *"Doesn't look that hard."*
@J why? He could be living his best life you never know.
@J no need since it'll likely be ending soon haha

I almost crapped my pants the first time my lights reflected off something. Turned out to be a metal trail sign lol.
I mean, the editing and transitions from day/night are just magnificent👌👌

Thanks Jeremy! Definitely a pretty cool experience being alone in the woods at night.
The fun of night riding cannot be captured on camera, it has a really unique feel
That was really neat. I am not a fan of woods at night. I grew up in wooded area like that and the darkness can be...oppressive.
Thanks! Turning off my lights for even a few seconds was eerie.
Riding at night really shows how difficult the trails are, almost removes the go pro effect because the shadows show the depths of steps etc

Glad to see you're getting that sponsorship mula. Really liked the day/night cuts.
Slick editing with the day/night transitions.
Thx for sharing, loving the night/day comparison, technical as hell, difference is night and day😃
Great job,keep them coming pls
Love night riding. So much fun.
This is rad. Please upload more night time rides.

Yep, extending your riding hours is a game changer in the winter time.
@@ddangerousddave winter here is currently giving us -30s, so more like a fall, spring and summer extender for me :P
As usual great riding and awesome editing.
That was really cool the way you edited that, Dave. The light was really strong.
is cool how the spotlight hilights where you are looking. and the water and mud spraying off the tyres is rad
8:27 just about shat myself right there lmao, thought someone was behind the tree😂
Great video! Riding in the dark is nuts!!

This is literally having ‘fog of war’ from a video game in real life lmao love it
Whoa…that was way stressful! Great editing and riding!
The night riding sections look like the start of a horror movie.
Thank you David, awesome video👍👍👍
I didn't know riding at night was possible like this! Heck yeah
You got mad skinny skills in the dark💪🏻
That light is so good.
Now imagine how awesome a snow night run on fatty boi would look with those lights!
Not even thinking about trying a night ride yet. But sick to watch, especially the tech stuff.
Shit, not just at night, also in the wet! Very intense. Also quite interesting because the lights make it easier to see how everthing is arranged.
Next week: "Today I will be riding double back trails with a blindfold on."
did you ever come across a sasquatch? now is the perfect time to worry LOL!!!

I started laughing because one of the ads during the video started off, "911 what's your emergency?"

we need a dog running ahead tho🤣
Do you have individual videos for the Boogieman as well? I would love to see them unedited

congrats on the sponsor lad
Warm up on Fromme then go to Seymour, I love it.

this was cool, but night time riding looks anxiety inducing. XD
Did you crash at all? Or lose the trail at all (aside from that moment toward the end of the video)?

When is the Gopro vid coming out?
I must’ve missed a new bike video

Did I see . . . the Hamburglar?
