This song is magical. It's only a few days since it was released, and I've heard it a thousand times and cried every time. It's our tragic history of the last 40+ years. I can connect to every single word of this song. We've all lived this song.
Every verse of this song carries a deep pain and one just can't understand it without living in those moments. The verse that says: "For the girl who wished to be a boy" refers to the blue girl, a girl who disguised herself as a boy to be able to get into the stadium, to cheer her favourite team, the blue team. She got arrested and sentenced 2 years in prison, later she set herself on fire and died a few days later in a hospital. This broke the whole nation's heart but not the regime rusted minds. No one can translate this song
In Iran some Iranian kids and also many Afghan kids do child labor. The "crushed dreams" refers to an interview when they asked one of those kids: "What is your dream?" and he replied: "What does dream mean?" 4:35 the full translation is "for never experiencing/repeating this moment AGAIN" which means Reera and her father can't never have such moment again because she was killed when they shot the plane down. Pirouz the Cheetah is at the danger of dying and he is the last remaining one of his siblings which were already an endangered species and all died because of sheer incompetence. And yeah, Iran is a female name and it's sometimes called "Mam-e Mihan" meaning our country is our mother. BUT in Iran we usually refer to Iran as neither "fatherland" nor "motherland", we usually call it HOMELAND and the actual word used here in Persian was also homeland. But since this line is "for" men they used fatherland.
To add to your comment for those who don't know, having a dog in Iran is forbidden according to Islamic law it's not clean, shouldn't be in touch with human, basically if you touch a dog you shouldn't pray... And for the man, fatherland part he actually meant all those amazing man who are fighting shoulder to shoulder with our girls and support us... Many girls wish to be a girl at least for one day so they can do whatever a man can do freely as well
Shervine is still arrested and nobody knows where, not even his friends and family. Please help nominating this song for the “best song for social change” category of recording academy (grammy). This song has become the main anthem of Iranian protests all over the world. Sung in more than 150 cities on October 1st 2022.
Hey man thanks for the video and thank you for actually reading the lyrics and trying to understand the meaning behind them . I'm an Iranian girl and every time I listen to this song and remember everything they made us go through I start crying . I saw your expression when reading the lyrics and thinking about how people all around the world can feel our pain by listening to such a beautiful song makes me think " yeah we aren't alone after all" and it gives me hope. Thanks bro❤️❤️
Thank you for bringing attention to this beautiful song that is now the anthem of the Iranian revolution of 2022. Just to give some context and answer some questions: --The tweets were how the song's lyrics came to be. In order for the hashtags to trend people would constantly tweet about why they were protesting. It became a trend by itself, starting a tweet with "baraye (because of)" and mentioning a cause. He took all those tweets and made a song out of it. --The cheetah, the last of its species, was one of two who were born in a zoo in Iran but because of lack of government support the zoo keepers couldn't keep its sibling alive. I'm not sure if the last one is still alive or not but it is basically referring to the way the Iranian government ignores Iran's rare and precious wildlife. --The dogs were poisoned and murdered simply because they were stray dogs. That was the government's solution to getting them off the streets instead of creating animal shelters and spaying/neutering adult dogs. --Reera Esmaeilion was the daughter of an Iranian/Canadian dentist. On January 8, 2020, a Ukrainian Airlines passenger aircraft she and her mother were on was shot down over Tehran by two missiles launched by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. No one was held responsible and no compensation, or even apology, was issued to the families. The Iranian regime killed 175 people and thought nothing of it. I hope that helps to understand the song better. It's a beautiful song that touches on so many issues that has haunted my people for the past 40 years. The Islamic Republic is an occupying force and our people are no different than Ukrainians trying to kick invaders out of their country. If you, or anyone else, still has questions don't hesitate to ask in the replies.
Nominate his song to the Grammys in the Best Song for Social Change category! Please repost or boost! We need to make this happen for Shervin and awareness!
The child labor is in refrence to another video clip, there is a back story to most of these tweets. Child labor is about an interview with a homeless kid, when they asked him what do you wish for? His response was "what is a wish?"
There are homeless children who live out of bins in every country - even the USA! These lyrics speak to the whole of humanity all over the earth... not just Iran. Our oppression torture brutality & death is also hidden from sight...
dude thanks for understanding our situation, You have already shown us your love❤️. Many of my friends immigrated to your country, Iranian people love you and wish you the best. 🇮🇷🇩🇪
Thank you for your reaction. I really got the feeling that you care which somehow kinda calmed me down. I'm from Iran and like many, I had to move out due to the awful conditions in there. Seeing that people from other countries like yourself care makes us feel less alone. So thank you

Thanks for being our voice... While the news agencies have turned a blind eye to what's going on in Iran, or worse their inaccurate narration of our story... Your support, your video means a whole lot to us...❤️
That is so beautiful how this German speaker describes the pain our people have and injustice that they face everyday. You are awesome, thank you. 🙏🌹💖💝❤️🔥
Thank you for your support ❤ This song is absolutely touching, but all the sentences have a story behind them, which are devastating. - the labor kid was looking in garbage cans to make a living, an interviewer asked him “what’s your biggest dream?” And the kid responded “what’s a dream?” - or the innocent dogs, the government killed a lot of stray dogs just because they are “haram” Even people can’t take they’re dogs outside for a walk because if a police sees it they’ll seize the dog by force - Like the Ukrainian flight 752, the government shot the plane twice on purpose and killed civilians which lots of them were Iranian-Canadians (there’s a documentary about it “752 is not a number)(you can also search “Hamed Esmaeilion”) - forced heaven refers to the stupid laws of mandatory hijab, not drinking alcohol, not having a boyfriend/girlfriend, not partying, and a lot of stupid things that they arrest people for. They lash people for doing these things - there are a lot of Afghan refugees in iran who don’t have any rights, they don’t even have any IDs just because they’re Afghan - buildings collapsed because of poor management and engineering with people inside them. A lot of innocent people were killed that day (search Metropol building Abadan) - girls have a lot of restrictions in Iran that’s why a lot of them wish they were boys. They can’t ride a bike, they can’t get a passport without their father’s or husband’s permission, they don’t have custody rights, etc. the list is endless

This song has whole different understanding and feeling in persian and especially if you live in iran it hurts more and more with each sentence which re-opens the old and recent wounds.
Hey, my friend, Thank you for your interest and detailed review. It's amazing to see how this song is being processed in the mind of people outside of the borders. The hidden art of this song has to do with a movement in social media in which everyone had to post a sentence that starts with the word "Baraye," which translates to "For." And every post had to explain why the people in Iran were protesting. All of them had to do with years of suffering. Shervin chooses a few of these posts and revises them as little as possible to make the song. ( hence the image of the posts below the screen) I am unsure if others have explained this point already; when I saw this video, I became so passionate that I didn't have the patience to read the comments by others. (I apologize for my honesty) One last thing, when he says, " For men, fatherland and prosperity," this is what women in Iran are chanting during the protest. Which has a deeper meaning, in short, resembles the unity of people. Thank you again; it is nice to see humanity slowly but surely moving towards being one mind and one soul. I wish for a day that our kids and their kids live on earth with no violence.
I've listened to this song for about more than 100 times. But I started crying when I saw that you found all these that much strange. women, life, freedom ❤️✌🏻

He was reading (singing) from those tweets shown on the screen with minimal change. Flight PS752 was shutdown by missle from Iranian government. Ich bin Iraner. Erstmal vielen lieben Dank. Alles Gute dir.

I live in Iran @cojak Rap. after this video I cried several times actually. because you're right and the government in Iran can't understand people here. Thank You so much for making this video. with respect and love I hope everything will be ok soon.
I want to say something about ‘Rira’ who is mentioned in this song. She was a little girl in the flight with her Mom and they were on the way to Canada back to her father ‘Hamed esmailion’ that the tragic murder happened. On 1st of October 2022 Hamed (her father) arranged protests all around the world against all these crimes, enormous number of people attended.… we all now know Hamed, who lost his wife and daughter, we feel his pain, we feel all of these words… thank you for sharing this… it makes me cry over and over again …
Thanks Cojak, you’ve been an individual with a beating heart for those in pain. My country and people are living every line and verse in Shervin’s song and lyrics, every day. Since the world have never had any expectation from our country, but benefit, worst of all always being regardless to what happens inside the country while they’re making love with the cruel and non-Iranian imposters (on or under table). It’s our fault to keep quiet for so long, yet doesn’t mean the world was separated from us in 20th and 21st century. They observed and ignored and preferred to listen to lies from political rep.s in int’l events. Our people fought and will keep fighting their life to redeem their freedom and prove that sons and daughters of Cyrus the great and the name of Iran as one important pillar of culture, civilization and science prevails. For Women, life and freedom. ❤ I on behalf of many Persian souls, thank you deeply for your concern and shake your hand.
I can't say how much this means to us that you talked about it and became our voice. And yes all of us feel the same about the fact that no one can do anything for us, but we have hope. Thank you❤️
❤ Some words in the Lyrics have multiple translations as a result, you may see different translations. Covering come of your questions: - prosperity: could have used progress, development or progression. - the airline reference: For not being able to experience (a wonderful feeling again) with a loved one (because they have passed) - child labour: more accurate translation might be homeless children who rummage through rubbish or have to work on the street/beg - dogs: dogs are seen as unclean in Islam (Islamic government kills them - or for stray dogs they kills them as opposed to sterilizing them) - fatherland: Persian doesn’t have gender in its grammar /we don’t even have he or she/ so it could have been translated to motherland too.
I hope it's not too late but thank you, thank you so much. I don't know you I just past this vid after not having access to Internet for about 3 days and it's so heartwarming to to realise so many people have noticed us. Sending BIG BIG LOVE to you whomever and wherever you are. ❤

She got arrested and sentenced 2 years in prison, later she set herself on fire and died a few days later in a hospital. This broke the whole nation's heart but not the regime rusted minds.

Thank you for your support and being our voice🌹
We are proud of you, you can be our voice and that's enough, thank you for being the voice of the Iranian people
In Iran some Iranian kids and also many Afghan kids do child labor. The "crushed dreams" refers to an interview when they asked one of those kids: "What is your dream?" and he replied: "What does dream mean?"
4:35 the full translation is "for never experiencing/repeating this moment AGAIN" which means Reera and her father can't never have such moment again because she was killed when they shot the plane down.
Many girls wish to be a girl at least for one day so they can do whatever a man can do freely as well
Thank you for being our voice. Please don't say you can't help us. This video helped us a lot. Please support us again and be our voice.❤
Thank you so much for your supporting. Please be our voice
For freedom✌️🇮🇷
Dear Nikita, United peace loving Iranians are not alone...we are together and the world will join us
Every single word of this song is a big story about Iranian lives. Thank you for sharing the song to raise Shervin’s voice to other people.
man as an iranian i just want to say thank you so much for sharing and reacting on this amazing songs which means a lot to us these days
Thanks for your support. I cry every time I hear this song because he says it exactly as it is. You’re not alone in feeling helpless.
Thank you for bringing attention to this beautiful song that is now the anthem of the Iranian revolution of 2022. Just to give some context and answer some questions:
--The tweets were how the song's lyrics came to be.

Iran is a Motherland.
But actually the word Motherland or Fatherland doesn’t have a gender in persian.
It’s actually homeland.
Thank you for being our voice and supporting.
Nominate his song to the Grammys in the Best Song for Social Change category! Please repost or boost! We need to make this happen for Shervin and awareness!
You understood the lyrics more than many others who were expected to understand.
Thank you
The child labor is in refrence to another video clip, there is a back story to most of these tweets.
Child labor is about an interview with a homeless kid, when they asked him what do you wish for? His response was "what is a wish?"
this is heartbreaking.
So thank you
This song touched are heart ❤️ as Iranian u don’t know until u live in Iran every words of this song makes u cry because is true are appreciation and big thank you 🙏 for supporting us 🙏❤️
Thanks for being our voice... While the news agencies have turned a blind eye to what's going on in Iran, or worse their inaccurate narration of our story... Your support, your video means a whole lot to us...❤️
You already helped us,by sharing this video...Now thousands of people knows what is going on Iran🙂❤️thank you so much
To understand the depth of the song, you need to know that there is a sad story behind each and every line (tweet), and that makes it special.
That is so beautiful how this German speaker describes the pain our people have and injustice that they face everyday.
You are awesome, thank you. 🙏🌹💖💝❤️🔥
Thank you so much for your support! As an Iranian, I really appreciate it:D
Thank you for your support ❤
This song is absolutely touching, but all the sentences have a story behind them, which are devastating.
- the labor kid was looking in garbage cans to make a living, an interviewer asked him “what’s your biggest dream?” And the kid responded “what’s a dream?”
- or the innocent dogs, the government killed a lot of stray dogs just because they are “haram”
Even people can’t take they’re dogs outside for a walk because if a police sees it they’ll seize the dog by force
- Like the Ukrainian flight 752, the government shot the plane twice on purpose and killed civilians which lots of them were Iranian-Canadians (there’s a documentary about it “752 is not a number)(you can also search “Hamed Esmaeilion”)
- forced heaven refers to the stupid laws of mandatory hijab, not drinking alcohol, not having a boyfriend/girlfriend, not partying, and a lot of stupid things that they arrest people for. They lash people for doing these things
- there are a lot of Afghan refugees in iran who don’t have any rights, they don’t even have any IDs just because they’re Afghan
- buildings collapsed because of poor management and engineering with people inside them. A lot of innocent people were killed that day (search Metropol building Abadan)
- girls have a lot of restrictions in Iran that’s why a lot of them wish they were boys. They can’t ride a bike, they can’t get a passport without their father’s or husband’s permission, they don’t have custody rights, etc. the list is endless
🙏 Danke
Thank you friend❤and I should add Pirooz was the last Cheetah from Iran . We called him the boy of Iran. and now it is extinced (I am not sure because he has a ssister too). He dead because of in efficient management.... We have lats of pains and suffering
I live in the US and most people here are definitely not as informed about other countries and what's going on in them as you are. Very impressive! I like it

Our people sing Shervin's song together in their protests. This song has become a freedom and national song for us.
I hope that Shervin and Iran will be freed as soon as possible.
Thank you so much for using your platform to support Iranians. This means the world to me. ❤
I want to sincerely thank you for voicing Iran and Shervin. Iranians have been suffering about half a century (43 years) but up until now no one has heard their voice and cries. Your support means a lot to us.

Thank you, you are helping a lot by raising awareness about the situation in our country and bringing other people to attention. We are infinitely grateful.
This song has whole different understanding and feeling in persian and especially if you live in iran it hurts more and more with each sentence which re-opens the old and recent wounds.
Thank you for your support. Thank you so much for being our voice. Shervin is now released but it's stupid to be arrested for singing a song.
Thank you for the support, be our voice ❤

Hey, my friend, Thank you for your interest and detailed review.
It's amazing to see how this song is being processed in the mind of people outside of the borders. The hidden art of this song has to do with a movement in social media in which everyone had to post a sentence that starts with the word "Baraye," which translates to "For." And every post had to explain why the people in Iran were protesting. All of them had to do with years of suffering.
Shervin chooses a few of these posts and revises them as little as possible to make the song. ( hence the image of the posts below the screen)
I am unsure if others have explained this point already; when I saw this video, I became so passionate that I didn't have the patience to read the comments by others. (I apologize for my honesty)
One last thing, when he says, " For men, fatherland and prosperity," this is what women in Iran are chanting during the protest. Which has a deeper meaning, in short, resembles the unity of people.
Thank you again; it is nice to see humanity slowly but surely moving towards being one mind and one soul.
I wish for a day that our kids and their kids live on earth with no violence.
Thanks for your support! We need more, please be our voice😥
I've listened to this song for about more than 100 times. But I started crying when I saw that you found all these that much strange. women, life, freedom ❤️✌🏻
yes this song is so deep, The song sings all our heart, every sentence is all our words. I am Iranian and now when I saw this I just cried, crying for my people , crying for Shervin....

I'm able to cry everytime I hear it...
It's Not only a Song.. We're living these words.
We've experienced them..
Shervin is truely brave.
Stay safe❤️
He was reading (singing) from those tweets shown on the screen with minimal change.
Flight PS752 was shutdown by missle from Iranian government. Reera along with her mother was one of the 175 passengers. The tweet was showing a photo of Reera and her father saying: For never reexperiencing this moment again (from his dad point of view)
@cojak rap
Ich bin Iraner. Erstmal vielen lieben Dank. Alles Gute dir.
THE INTRO was so nice and thank you for this video🤍love you from IRAN❤️
Thanks for reacting to this mv.
It doesn't matter how many times we, people of Iran hear this song, we cry our eyes out every single time :')
Freedom is close.. I have faith
Thanks for sharing this and supporting Iran ❤
Thank you for speaking up and supporting Iranians! 🙏
This song is like bringing our everyday life in the past 4 decades in-front of our eyes
I on behalf of many Persian souls, thank you deeply for your concern and shake your hand.
Thanks so much for your supporting 🌹💔 please pray for Iranian people be our voice love you so much Thank you
Don't feel bad, by sharing these reaction videos you are helping, much appreciated 🙏 Danke
I can't say how much this means to us that you talked about it and became our voice. And yes all of us feel the same about the fact that no one can do anything for us, but we have hope. Thank you❤️
Thank you for your support and be our voice to the world!🙏🏻🙂❤️
❤ Some words in the Lyrics have multiple translations as a result, you may see different translations.
Covering come of your questions:
- prosperity: could have used progress, development or progression.
- the airline reference: For not being able to experience (a wonderful feeling again) with a loved one (because they have passed)
- child labour: more accurate translation might be homeless children who rummage through rubbish or have to work on the street/beg
- dogs: dogs are seen as unclean in Islam (Islamic government kills them - or for stray dogs they kills them as opposed to sterilizing them)
- fatherland: Persian doesn’t have gender in its grammar /we don’t even have he or she/ so it could have been translated to motherland too.
thanks for your support, we appreciate it🖤
