Ive had to fight Yuan as Russia right after discovering them. Legit a 15 year death war during time of troubles. It was horrible. And a reformed spain won the religious wars as emperor.
A tiny detail (well maybe not that tiny) Hawk missed early-on is Consecrate Metropolitan. At game start, you should be able to do this in 1-2 States which will allow you to pick an icon, and the icon of St. Michael or the one with AE + improve relations will go a very long way in helping you expand faster from the beginning. Always consecrate metropolitan when you can. Great guide Hawk!
@@TheRedHawk I think your guides are pretty noob friendly since you go into fairly granular detail, so I think there's a decent chance people who don't know the Orthodox mechanics will be following the guide. For instance, me lol.
@@ConFusi0n The one thing that is missing from most guides is a more in-depth look at "how do you develop your economy", which becomes important later on, when you have to look at trading companies and decide which provinces to state and which not to state. Since the easter european lands are starting as prettly low-dev AND since the trade end-nodes are in western europe it might be an idea to move the capital to western europe ... OR IT MIGHT NOT. As someone who plays Prussia a lot, which is on the border between east and west and you can go either way, this is pretty frustrating, because figuring it out costs a lot of time ... which would be a waste if someone else with more playtime already did it.
I acctually wouldn't take an Icon until your done with Novgorod war. there is a chance events can give you enough to icon without needing to permanently increase the state maintenance or at least reduce the number of states you need to concentrate in. AE reduction is meaningless against Novgorod as no one but Novgorod and orthodox minors care but your going to need that icon before you take on the Catholics or the Muslims so you can't take another icon as you need that slot. take AE reduction right before you start warring the hordes. or if you get a good shot at early catholic hits. if you go for Kazan second you can even delay AE reduction Icon until after Kazan war because that first war should reconquest perm core, grab gold mine and grab the needed provence for the mission which is fairly low AE Icon will only save you 2 AE from the 20 ish you should get with them and even less from what you would get with everyone else. once you have the horde claims then your going to 100% every war and will need it.
Using the half cost transfer subject age of discovery ability is very strong for Muscovy because you could take Norway in 1 war, shrink Lithuania a little like 25% warscore in 1 war, and then take all of them in a second war.
I would not say it is tough. Get Poland-Lithuania as an ally, and you are golden. Muscovy start is still stronger, and you get the same Russia, just a bit later. And staying as Novgorod limits your expansion.
Hawk, you seem to be slightly confused. You were supposed to do a video on Beloozero. I understand the confusion though since Muscovy is right next to them.
I highly preferred too give the bordered vasall the land, because its important too save much adm power for a fast lvl10 russia for the sibirian front, also you can melk novg perfectly for money and the vasall have novg main culture so he have not so much Rebell uprising
You can vassilize Norway easily with the age objective, so they can colonize for you. Also Great Horde (before the Kazan war) and Livionian Order would be nice opportunities for vassals with a bunch of cores.
The Russia feels more like a horde than acual hordes based on manpower and land size, and hords feel more like under-deved savage tribes in this game lol, love your vids hawk
Wanna share my 1.30.6 Muscovy strategy here: 1. Improve with CRIMEA. They are the best ally in the early game, because they also hate Lithuania and The Great Horde. We will call them into our wars against them. Also strong Crimea tends to rarer fall into Ottoman hands, but I'm not sure about the mechanic. They have the same rivals as we do, so it won't be an issue. 2. Spy on the Great Horde. Get a claim on TAMBOV. Tambov is the best province to "Tame the Steppes", because it has Mishar culture, which we are able to get accepted (that means faster missionary). 3. Invade on Novgorod with the quest. Try not to lose recruts, at this time they are crucial. Take the Novgorod state and Neva and Ingermanland to block the Livonian Order out. It's 100% warscore in 1.30.6, invade on Novgorod province itself to save warscore (cb reduces warscore on the wargoal so it's beneficial to declare on the most developed province). Sweden and Denmark usualy don't attack Novgorod. Novgorod is one of the best states in Russia, also you will be able to set a metropoly in there which is useful. 4. Ally Crimea and attack the Great Horde together. Get Tambov and humiliation and also some province for Crimea, money. Don't waste time, because the Great Horde might become unavailible to rival very fast. Don't lose a lot of recruits. Core Tambov, accept Mishar, state and increase misionary power in Tambov. Start converting. 5. Attack russian minors if possible. Always make a claim on Tver and Riazan, cause these provinces are quite expencive to core. 6. On tech 4 you can defeat Poland-Lithuania with the Icon, Crimea and a bit of tactics. Also take a morale advisor. They tend to mothball their forts at the Russian border, use it! This war is where you need some recruits. Take Smolensk state and Toropets to create Polotsk. The worst scenario is when Poland and Lith are just allies. That means Lith will also have some other allies, but usualy these are some hre minors or far distant countries like Scotland. 7. Continue invading Novgorod. It is worth to give the provinces, you are not going to state, to Beloozero. In this strategy I don't take Trade Ideas, so we won't be able to trade in the White Sea for a long time. 8. In 1454 you should have annexed your Rostov and Yaroslavl vassals. You can set a metropoly in the states, they took place. 9. At this time Kazan is probably allied to Crimea. To avoid fighting both of them you can do a dirty trick: attack Kazan while being in war against the Great Horde together with Crimea. Take gold as mentioned, then just make quests to get more claims and easier convertion. Religious ideas in 3 will make your life signinficantly easier. 10. On MIL 6 you should attack Poland-Lithuania again. Feed Polotsk, get access to other vassals. Try to get some of them free and vassalize peacefully -- it's a great way to save yourself form rapid aggressive expansion gain. Some of the vassals might start revolting. Keep an eye on it. Create a vassal if there are separatists taking control in Lith. 11. Take your step into Asia. Nogai is the best pretender. You need a province in Asia to fulfil the age quest. Look at the special map to investigate where the border between the continents lies. 12. Things you want in the East: 1) cut through Uzbek to get the fastest way to China and pacific Ocean; 2) Transoxianian trade Company in Kilva, Samarkand , etcetra. Don't know how to manage the AE in central Asia. It's easy to get stuck with coalition, try to be more creative than me. 13. Things you want in the West: 1) Nice and juicy russian vassals, which will be easy to integrate with a modificator you get, when integrate a russian vassal having formed Russia (+2 diplo rep); 2) Foothold in scandinavia; 3) Saving and vassalizing as much orthodox countries as you can. Becoming a Defender of the Faith at some point is a good idea. 14. For ideas: 1 - religious (helps you to expand eastward); 2 - Influence (to manage and annex your vassal more efficiently) ; 3 - some military, cause soon u will face Ottomans. Sometimes I even pick defencive, because its fast and huge morale bonus; 4 - administrative. 15. Some advices: 1) Divert your vassals trade power in early stage of the game to get more trade power in Novgorod; 2) Siege with vassals army attached to save recruits; 3) Keep the devcost and buildcost reduction Icon ON most of the time. 4) Make a tunnel of quite developed provinces from Novgorod to Moscow (10 dev during renaissance to speed up institution). 5) To get fennaisance you can devup Moscow. 6) Become Russia as fast as possible, keep your administrative focus to 1500 i guess; 7) Develop provinces to get metropoly in the states. 8) For colonialism you can move the capital and get it passed from a neighboring friend (you can befriend Sweden for example) 9) For printing press you can dev up the Saint-Petersburg (your new capital in Neva). 10) Try to pick your golden age in the first age, but slightly later than Ottoman does. It will help to finish him out. Thank you for your attention. I'd beglad to discuss and answer you qustions.
I prefer to release Odyev, feed them Ryazan, then go down to Crimea, after taking provinces from Great Horde. Or if Lithuania/Pol gets in a messy war for Teuton lands (rarely happens) I go for a early Lithuania war and take provinces from them down to Crimea whilst trying to mess up the Lith and Pol armies. Then war with Crimea and the entire coast can be taken with them just having 1-2 provinces left stuck inside my territory. I make a claim on genoa or if possible I'd like to take circassia as a vassal and use their core casus belli on Genoa. Take all Genoas crimea provinces and then I wont have to worry about a kebab landing on my pretty Sevastopol beaches. Then just feed all that muslim land to my vassals, Odyev and Circassia. I keep Feodasia in Crimea in order to fabricate on the Caucasus' coast in order to get Georgia as a vassal to serve as a nice buffer against kebab. Then I alternate between wars in the east, releasing Kazakh and just feeding them all that steppe land while in the west I snake my way through Pol-Lith-Moldavia, cutting their borders off from Kebab, Hungry, Boh, Brandy. So then I can slowly digest them once they're borders are cut off from Bessarabia to Krakow to Danziq without worry that any HRE guy wants to take a nibble from my eastern european bread basket.
For those coming back later, they took out one 'feature' that alters the setup. If you want to seize lands from the Estates, you must do so before giving away all your land as there is now a 10% minimum. In this guide, he gives it all away and then develops 1 point so he can push the button. That won't work now.
You mean like taking Iceland from Norway/Denmark and then moving into Canada? Then colonizing most of the America's and Siberia by 1600 with my capital in New Moscow, Bermuda.
@@robertalaverdov8147 I dont think this works, because your capital just needs a land connection to the siberian frontier prov. Not that it changes much ^^
@@siinuxxblume5123 I haven't played in over a year. They must have patched it because from what I remember Bermuda was some sort of nether region that if it was a capital it would count as both old and new world. And using the exploit you didn't need to create colonies.
@@robertalaverdov8147 Nah this is still true, but the colonizable land needs to be conected to your capital. If it was just same continent Russia couldnt colonize siberia xD
My personal 'thrill' is playing various nations from 1444 and finding ways to 'beeline' into the Spice Islands and then splitting time between regional objectives where my nation is based and building an economic powerhouse mostly with conquest after initial colonization in Moluccas, (Malacca, Philippines), and an Australian colony. With Muscovy / Russia, Siberian Frontier can be exploited by timely wars with Uzbek and Oirat (for me in this last run) taking all of their Northern edges. Siberian Frontier will work with yet-to-be cored provinces. I was able to push all the way to Okhotsk by the 1530s and then the Spice Island experiment begins. I want to see if I can get Siberian Frontier to work away from continental Asia. Having ~20 simultaneous colonies in the islands would be a singular sight to see. Well, it won't. Though the pop up when I hover isn't telling me it won't work because I am not continental Asia (Siberia). Just tells me I don't have, "(T)race a route back to our capital." Which I do; I annexed the Asian Pacific shore down to the bottom of Korea, across to Satsuma Japan, Ryukyu sea zone to Taipei, over to the top of the Philippines, out the bottom and across to both Moluccas island groups. Siberian Frontier is not going to work. Maybe I don't understand the mechanic properly.
Funny I just did that push east achievement and my first play through as Muscovy. Super strong and economy was insanely good. Easy could keep going for world conquest.
If think it would be better to release Astrakhan from Ukek after taking it from Golden Horde after 1st war( only 2 provinces more). You could also feed them adjacent non-core provonces to lower uprisings and sace ADM points
On my first try Novgorod allied Lithuania, so I immediately restarted, just thought you should include a statement for such contingencies in the future.
Keep an eye on Novgorod's allies. It may sound like a bad idea, but if they ally Denmark don't break the alliance in the wars, and have a 3ed war with Novgorod by leaving them with 1 province where you release Sweden and Norway while taking 1 Finland province to release them. Its a good way of making later wars in that area way faster and less dangerous. I started doing this because of a real bad Poland/Denmark/Austria alliance that I could not beat until way later after eating most of Siberia.
You said to declare war on Kazan and first focus on Crimea. I would add to take Kazan province first to have the ticking score for you, then focus on peacing out the allies 🙂
I am surprised you didn't at least put stab at 1 to get the little religious conversion strength/prosperity building. Not sure if you mentioned consecrating states that have enough development across their provinces. I was wondering if you feel the gains from spending the admin to stab up isn't worth it?
Instead of releasing tons of small subjects - which fill up all your diplo slots - it could be an alternative to "choose wisely" and get nations which get loads of claims from their mission tree, especially in regions which you dont really get claims. An example is the CRUSADER missions, which could give you VERY early claims for Damascus / Jerusalem and also Tripoli. The SNAG is that you need to fulfill some "is not a subject nation" missions before that, which is somewhat easy for Aragon, because they start as owners of Malta, which needs to be given to the crusader state of choice (the Knights) would be the best one IMO, because they are alive the longest usually and they are RAIDING COASTLINES. With the "second wave" of vassal swarm nations I would stick with Kiev, which can get claims on its smaller neighbors and some more. Force-vassalising Genua might also be a good idea to get a foothold in Italy ...
You should annex Yaroslavl before Rostov. Yaroslavl has a trade node, so you get more trade power for yourself a little earlier. I played Muscovy hundreds of times. I like diplo vassalizing Odoyev in the beginning, then giving it Ryazanian lands. It is worth mentioning, in my opinion, that one should set Manpower state edict in capital. Muscovy struggles with manpower in the beginning. Trade-Religious is good and fun, but boring standard Quantity-Economic is super powerful, too.
you should annex 3 subjects at once. not one at a time. thus it makes more sense to go perm (most powerful only one with a real chance of revolt + can't use the russia colonization button until they are gone. ) Pskov (no royal marriage) and then Yaroslav. go in order from most expensive to least to get them all at the same time. of course non of this matters if they are free integrations.
a few notes: 1) the best idea of Russia is defensive, the second is religious, you still need admin points, so you shouldn’t take religious ones first, it’s better to take the military ones, defensive ones are good because they give a huge boost +15 morale of the army, almost Elan! from France religious ones are needed for fast province crossing and better cb 2) it makes sense to transfer the occupation to vassals and give part of the territories to them during the signing of peace - for example, after the war with Novgorod, take Novgorod itself and the lands before it, and transfer everything to the north to your purple vassal (I forgot the name) this saves a lot of important admin points 3) playing for Russia at the beginning is extremely situational, so get ready to be surprised - you need to immediately mark the territories of the Livonian Order as "necessary" so that your vassal Pskov as a spy fabricates a claim as quickly as possible, this is a good trading point, plus the territories that will be conquered by your rival - Denmark, capture them as soon as possible without letting them get stronger, vassalize Riga try to capture the Crimea as quickly as possible, the Crimea and the territories around it Genoa and Theodoro are extremely rich in recruits with skillful buildup, they will be useful to you in the future, but if you are too slow or unlucky, they will become a vassal or ally of the Ottomans and everything is bad do these things as quickly as possible - Novgorod will not run away after the first war, the nomads in the east pose no serious threat to you and no one will capture them either, so you can not focus on them in the first 50 years, deal with a little later it also makes sense to capture Georgia and the territories in the north of Persia and the Caucasus, rich in silk, reed and so on, these are good and rich goods 4) strategically Russia ALWAYS goes east and southeast - Persia to capture the Persian trade region from which most of the overland trade comes from Asia (your Novgorod node will become super rich) and towards China - incredibly rich provinces. "frontier" to one of the Ming tributaries, build some forts (don't forget the defensive ideas), kill their troops on the forts, repeat until the Ming have no men left, capture the tributary territories to the Ming border to fight the Ming 1 on 1 in the next war - do not be afraid of their huge army, take away Beijing, in the next war, occupy the whole country, every province and create devastation for them, preferably in the eastern provinces where there are no important goods, seize along the coast, seize countries through which trade flows, come to Europe with 500,000 "streltsov" alone and just slap anyone 5) the fight against Ottoblob is important, but not at the beginning - you don’t have the opportunity to defeat Turkey at the beginning, vassalize Byzantium, no one will help you in this war, so either wait for the right moment, or better come to the era of absolutism and capture the entire war in one war Greece and beyond the Balkans
@@JohnDoe-kn7ex this is the best idea for Russia that allows her to use the climate and landscape, what could be better? it will allow you to secure yourself from Otto and Poland without difficulty
@@MeowMeow-kw3qt Just take Offensive or Quality for that, those idea groups off set the moral you get from Defensive. As Muscovy your biggest limitation at the start is your lacking economy, so taking Trade first is better than taking a military idea group, you can take mil as your third one.
What about trying to get a Teutonic province from Poland? Feed them some nice protestant provinces making them become Prussia, European tech space marines march to help you when facing strong foes
@@firmanimad Yes, unless for the formation of that nation is specified as condition "can't be a subject nation" like Russia, which I got early as PU still being Muscovy, rendering Siberia uncolonized for long time.
Instead of making religious ideas, I recommend making innovation ideas that can first come together with tier 4 reform, state privileges and the Russian national idea The Table Of Ranks, thus getting infinite mana. If you want to causus beli it's much better to use the missions and Tsardoom claims that can claim entire states.
I pretty heavily disagree with your vassal management. It is Priority 1 to integrate Perm as soon as possible. it is the only vassal. that can get strong enough to coordinate a revolution should things go poorly or you get bad events. Especially if you take the +15 percent liberty desire in exchange for faster integration estate. because of this your war order should also change. go from Novgorod war right into Kazan war to take Perm's core and get the next set of claims. Do not wipe out the minors early. you get claims on their land for free (25% core cost reduction due to perma claims) and you have better things to be doing (breaking hordes, consuming Novgorod, Stealing Norway) with your time. You want to be the only superpower in your neighborhood by 1470 ish. the minors can be consumed whenever and if the hordes eat them then the hordes are free food (remember you need to take one province from either Kazan or the great horde to get your next set of perm claims. also don't take the ablity that makes annex free until your just about to annex. no need to deal with 15% liberty desire on your subjects until you have to. take their trade and embargos instead. also why save a quarter of a ducat per month with the advisor cost reductions early game? not worth it. get the one that reduces liberty desire by 15 percent and gives you two diplo relations for early allies and or 2 more subjects (like Norway, Sweden, Lithuania.) also remember orthodox mechanics. I play Muscovy basically every patch. ever since missions got added to the game this is the best way to do it. you don't even need spies until 1500 if you just properly follow the mission tree.
@@burakcanduzcan they are both really good for this run though I will note both this guide and my comment are somewhat out of date at this point. honestly you can get both though if you plan to I would go Influence first. If you decide to pick up only one of them though, the deciding factor between them should be how many vassals and PU's do you want to have going forward? Like obviously you have your starting five but there is a decent chance you integrate them before you gain the best benefits of Influence. are you going to try and vasalize the other ortodox nations like Circassia and if you are very lucky Byzantium one day? perhaps vassalize EVERY surviving orthodox nation and then become defender of the faith with no downsides? do you intend to steal norway from Denmark? plan on releasing vassals for reconquest wars? if yes. go Influence and it will litterally pay for itself and then some over the course of your campain. If you are looking for a more tall game or even just one where russia invades lots of nations and annexes them for itself go diplo the extra diplomats and relations will help manage colitions or get you strong allies.
@@hristovalchev153 you only need one provence from the state in question Kazan has 1 and great horde has 2 at game start. as long as you take that one and convert it you can do tame the stepps.
@@hristovalchev153 the mission is "at least one province in the Tambov area must be owned by Muscovy orthodox and muscovite" penza, tambov, and etkara are all in the tambov area. thus taking and converting Penza is sufficent to achive the mission. Penza belongs to Kazan. so long as Kazan has not lost it yet and so long as you take Penza you can do this without waging war on golden horde. this lets you annex most of the golden horde in your first war rather than waiting for truce timers
You can still hire streltsky at the start in 1.33 but THEY COST MANPOWER NOW. Also, there’s not much point spying on Ryazan when you get claims on them later.
One game I made it all the way to East Prussia in 1580 and shot myself when I forgot to look at the aggressive expansion after war against Kazan and I had Ottomans in Coalition against me. I was looking at invading either Sweden or Pomerania. I prefer to start expanding into Lithuania though.
Hi, why didn't you give strong duchies from the beginning, so you can have allies like Nogay to have maps of central Asia, Siberia and so one to not to suffer with Uzbek for example. And another thing like concentrate Metropolitan and have this Icon with 10% dev all the time to save even more on this.
Guide is out of date and all but it still mostly seems good, I'm currently working up to a war with Kazan What do if Poland rejects Lithuania in their event? I feel like that is a really good thing but should I change my strategy by a lot?
Other than advisor discount isnt it better to get 2 diplo slots? That 50-100 ducat you will save is much much worthless compared to liberty desire and 2 diplo slot
There is the possibility of Novgorod allying Lithuania. If this happens you can wait until Lithuania falls under PU with Poland, or restart until this doesn't happen (it doesn't happen very often)
I like to go admin first so I can rush Russia (xoxo). I also like to feed my vassals to save even more admin points instead of coring land. You will however need more diplo points annexing them but who needs diplo anyways amr? :) Russia is always a fun nation in eu4.
Started an ironman game. First month an event popped up with 14k rebels appearing so my manpower was low from the start. Then after my starting king died my heir lasted a solid year before he died so my stab dropped by two in a blink of an eye.
Why would you not do rentless push east in that game? My game looked at lot like yours at 1500, but now im in 1547, and im 4 provinces for the achiment.
The Raise Streltsy mechanic isn't bugged. It's not there to allow you to raise Streltsy regiments; you can always do that as you saw, and it's functioning as designed. The mechanic allows you to raise 8 Streltsy regiments for free in your capital by spending 100 power points in return for increasing your stability cost.
I remember it was when they made special units recrutable from the macro builder that this streltsy exploit appeared. The problem is that other units have a cap tied to an estate or other mechanic. All other units do take manpower. I think they overlooked that streltsy don't. I think it would be much more balanced if recruiting streltsy would take manpower, and would not take only from the government ability. You could argue that the increased stab cost is a limiting factor, but it's not really. It just means that you can disband your streltsy when you need to boost stab and then hire them back at no manpower cost.
Beginner here. Really having a hard time in playing as Muscovy. I almost always experience the following: - Running out of manpower - Victim of a war declaration by Kazan with the help of Uzbek, Chagatai, AND TIMURIDS - Drowning in debt - Having trouble managing my dip, adm, and mil points - Non-stop rebels - Not being able to research adm tech Tips would be very appreciated.
I haven't played for a few patches, but I have about 1500h in the game. Have you looked into how to optimize your economy and trade? Watch a guide on diplomacy, you will see when nations view you as weak and are preparing to attack and what to do to discourage a DoW.
If you go Religious ideas first, always release all of the Lithuanian minors (and/or astrakhan) after you concentrate the development, that way you don't have to use your precious admin to core them, it's worth waiting to diplomatically annex them later.
Is it just me, or has the selling titles with virtually no crown land exploit been patched out? Seems every guide on youtube for every nation has relied on this strat, but as someone who just started the game a couple months ago, I've never been able to do this.
That is not really doable as later on the game will change vastly from player to player and so a guide on late game won't be relevant for most players. Anyway the whole point of a starting guide is to give you a good foundation so you can then do your own thing, not to play the whole game for you.
The sell titles with lesser land than 10% does not work anymore. Now you have to take two loans to do so and actually you need to be constantly at war to pay the loans. Problem for me are the Ottomans and Poland (with Lithuenia) I start now the third game in a row. In my last game I freed Lithuany from Poland but the result was, that the Ottomans said: great! and took the land from these weak countries. And then they attacked me before I could form Russia I had only Bohemia as an ally. The problem is, you cannot ally the Ottomans because they are always much stronger and do not accept you as a partner. Poland rivals you and Denmark too. In my game Austria does not get the hungarian inheritance. So there was no one to ally against the ottomans. Though I hat more troops, when they peaced out Bohemia they had an easy game. At the end when they was lack of manpower they spawned 3 mercenary armys. It was a mess -. -

Using the half cost transfer subject age of discovery ability is very strong for Muscovy because you could take Norway in 1 war, shrink Lithuania a little like 25% warscore in 1 war, and then take all of them in a second war.
With Diplomatic ideas you can get Sweden in 1 war too!

Novgorod into Russia guide would be good, since it's one of the toughest starts in 1444
I would not say it is tough. Get Poland-Lithuania as an ally, and you are golden.
Muscovy start is still stronger, and you get the same Russia, just a bit later.
And staying as Novgorod limits your expansion.
Apparently not as hard as the Beloozero into Russia game :p
Hawk, you seem to be slightly confused. You were supposed to do a video on Beloozero. I understand the confusion though since Muscovy is right next to them.
Oopsie
I highly preferred too give the bordered vasall the land, because its important too save much adm power for a fast lvl10 russia for the sibirian front, also you can melk novg perfectly for money and the vasall have novg main culture so he have not so much Rebell uprising
I do love vassals with mission trees that give more and more claims ... the crusader knights are pretty good ... and even Navarra does it.
Очень забавно наблюдать произношение русских мест и названий из уст Red Hawk-а
Sorry, I don't know how it translated to English
We both know you can't look at Belozero without having the thought that... Well you know what it is.
Redhawk: Novograd won't have strong ally
Me: *remembers the time a one province Novograd allied Poland*
You can vassilize Norway easily with the age objective, so they can colonize for you. Also Great Horde (before the Kazan war) and Livionian Order would be nice opportunities for vassals with a bunch of cores.
I offered LOrder vassalization lol, Denmark conquered all except 1 provice, that was their downfall haha
The Russia feels more like a horde than acual hordes based on manpower and land size, and hords feel more like under-deved savage tribes in this game lol, love your vids hawk
Yeah horde's potryal is a bit too simple. For example Kazan definitely was not a barabaric place.
Wanna share my 1.30.6 Muscovy strategy here:
Fast Norway is pretty good, but useless if u spent too much resources to get it. Decide wisely there.
A helpful tip thank you!
Which of Muscovy's three broken mechanics is he going to talk about - Who knows? I guess I'll have to watch to find out.

2:02 it's not a bug mate, you've always been able to manually recruit streltsy via either the macro builder or the province interface :)
Not when they first introduced streltsy and other special units. It's been in the last year or so that this was added.
@@maneatingcheeze it's been much longer than that. I did it in my first russian campaign a few years ago.

1.33.2 here, Strelzy now use manpower when recruiting from the macro builder.
Oh boi, I've waited so looong
I am surprised you didn't at least put stab at 1 to get the little religious conversion strength/prosperity building. Not sure if you mentioned consecrating states that have enough development across their provinces. I was wondering if you feel the gains from spending the admin to stab up isn't worth it?
Ist it Better to vassal the sweden and norway with idea from golden time dlc?
that gives you -50% to take vassal of an anemy
Do a Norwegian guide!
Great content btw 👌
I think you can make a guide an OPM to something awesome and maybe you can try some nations also
a few notes:
1) the best idea of Russia is defensive, the second is religious, you still need admin points, so you shouldn’t take religious ones first, it’s better to take the military ones, defensive ones are good because they give a huge boost +15 morale of the army, almost Elan! from France
religious ones are needed for fast province crossing and better cb
2) it makes sense to transfer the occupation to vassals and give part of the territories to them during the signing of peace - for example, after the war with Novgorod, take Novgorod itself and the lands before it, and transfer everything to the north to your purple vassal (I forgot the name) this saves a lot of important admin points
3) playing for Russia at the beginning is extremely situational, so get ready to be surprised - you need to immediately mark the territories of the Livonian Order as "necessary" so that your vassal Pskov as a spy fabricates a claim as quickly as possible, this is a good trading point, plus the territories that will be conquered by your rival - Denmark, capture them as soon as possible without letting them get stronger, vassalize Riga
try to capture the Crimea as quickly as possible, the Crimea and the territories around it Genoa and Theodoro are extremely rich in recruits with skillful buildup, they will be useful to you in the future, but if you are too slow or unlucky, they will become a vassal or ally of the Ottomans and everything is bad
do these things as quickly as possible - Novgorod will not run away after the first war, the nomads in the east pose no serious threat to you and no one will capture them either, so you can not focus on them in the first 50 years, deal with a little later
it also makes sense to capture Georgia and the territories in the north of Persia and the Caucasus, rich in silk, reed and so on, these are good and rich goods
4) strategically Russia ALWAYS goes east and southeast - Persia to capture the Persian trade region from which most of the overland trade comes from Asia (your Novgorod node will become super rich) and towards China - incredibly rich provinces. "frontier" to one of the Ming tributaries, build some forts (don't forget the defensive ideas), kill their troops on the forts, repeat until the Ming have no men left, capture the tributary territories to the Ming border to fight the Ming 1 on 1 in the next war - do not be afraid of their huge army, take away Beijing, in the next war, occupy the whole country, every province and create devastation for them, preferably in the eastern provinces where there are no important goods, seize along the coast, seize countries through which trade flows, come to Europe with 500,000 "streltsov" alone and just slap anyone
5) the fight against Ottoblob is important, but not at the beginning - you don’t have the opportunity to defeat Turkey at the beginning, vassalize Byzantium, no one will help you in this war, so either wait for the right moment, or better come to the era of absolutism and capture the entire war in one war Greece and beyond the Balkans
Defensive is shit. The benefits you get from religious are way more valuable than any mil idea let alone one of the worst ones.
As Muscovy your biggest limitation at the start is your lacking economy, so taking Trade first is better than taking a military idea group, you can take mil as your third one.
if you take the subject for half cost splendor idea you can actually just take norway as a vassal off of denmark ;)
What about trying to get a Teutonic province from Poland? Feed them some nice protestant provinces making them become Prussia, European tech space marines march to help you when facing strong foes
Wait, vassals can form nations on their own?
@@firmanimad Yes, unless for the formation of that nation is specified as condition "can't be a subject nation" like Russia, which I got early as PU still being Muscovy, rendering Siberia uncolonized for long time.
@@firmanimad a very few tags are formable by vassals. prussia is one.
Was thinking for your next what if series, making country’s of one type of resources like only grain, livestock, naval supplies, etc.
What's your take on diplomatic ideas vs influence ideas?
@@burakcanduzcan they are both really good for this run though I will note both this guide and my comment are somewhat out of date at this point.
honestly you can get both though if you plan to I would go Influence first. If you decide to pick up only one of them though,
the deciding factor between them should be how many vassals and PU's do you want to have going forward?
@@hristovalchev153 you only need one provence from the state in question Kazan has 1 and great horde has 2 at game start. as long as you take that one and convert it you can do tame the stepps.

what's ur mod for the textures?
You can still hire streltsky at the start in 1.33 but THEY COST MANPOWER NOW. Also, there’s not much point spying on Ryazan when you get claims on them later.
Outside the initial institution situation. Russia is really really strong. It has unlimited expansion route and pretty bad much unlimited manpower
He opted for Manpower privileges instead of Strong duchies.
Guide is out of date and all but it still mostly seems good, I'm currently working up to a war with Kazan
What do if Poland rejects Lithuania in their event? I feel like that is a really good thing but should I change my strategy by a lot?
Other than advisor discount isnt it better to get 2 diplo slots? That 50-100 ducat you will save is much much worthless compared to liberty desire and 2 diplo slot
There is the possibility of Novgorod allying Lithuania. If this happens you can wait until Lithuania falls under PU with Poland, or restart until this doesn't happen (it doesn't happen very often)

I’m playing in multiplayer, but it was a good guide for the starting

I am pretty sure that strelsy are supposed to work like that. I remember being able to do the same in 1.28
Yeah I think they are lol
I remember it was when they made special units recrutable from the macro builder that this streltsy exploit appeared. The problem is that other units have a cap tied to an estate or other mechanic. All other units do take manpower. I think they overlooked that streltsy don't. I think it would be much more balanced if recruiting streltsy would take manpower, and would not take only from the government ability. You could argue that the increased stab cost is a limiting factor, but it's not really. It just means that you can disband your streltsy when you need to boost stab and then hire them back at no manpower cost.

I haven't played for a few patches, but I have about 1500h in the game. Have you looked into how to optimize your economy and trade? Watch a guide on diplomacy, you will see when nations view you as weak and are preparing to attack and what to do to discourage a DoW.
I think my fav strat with muscovy was to take diplo first and steal sweden and/or norway from denmark...
If you go Religious ideas first, always release all of the Lithuanian minors (and/or astrakhan) after you concentrate the development, that way you don't have to use your precious admin to core them, it's worth waiting to diplomatically annex them later.
Hey could you make a guide on Genoa?? Please!
Eh, I don't like releasing Finland. Rather just steal all of Sweden from Denmark with transfer subject!
Is there a reason you're not making your territories states?

My guy released an
video hour ago. Everything is liked by him
Is it just me, or has the selling titles with virtually no crown land exploit been patched out? Seems every guide on youtube for every nation has relied on this strat, but as someone who just started the game a couple months ago, I've never been able to do this.
I would like you to make middle and late game guides as well, instead of just starting guides
