    Reagan isn't smiling down on anybody. He's dead. And, by now, nothing but some bones, cobwebs, and dust. We who are alive are surviving his legacy, which is over; and we're a better country without him..

    • @owiz9212

      +johnmburt1960 Yes, it does.
      Running up a massive deficit through ridiculous military spending while at the same time giving huge tax cuts to the wealthy.
      And don't even get me started on trading arms for hostages with Iran, and getting 275 Marines killed in Lebanon and then cutting and running. Imagine if Barack Obama had done that....

      +larry wright Reagans policies created prosperity and freedom for millions of Americans and billions of people worldwide.

    • @trimanlast

      +johnmburt1960 Thanks for the response. I respect your opinion but disagree completely. I will respond point by point without getting too verbose I hope.Reagan's core economic policy was to allow people to keep more of the money they earned by reducing marginal tax rates. As a result, there was enormous economic growth which dramatically increased tax receipts. The war on drugs was certainly a questionable undertaking in retrospect, however when crack cocaine made its appearance the media terrified the nation to the point where all of congress was howling for major penalties. (It is ironic to hear liberal democrats bemoan the disparity between penalties for powder and crack cocaine since they were part of the driving force to create them.)With regard to freedom, Reagan's policies liberated millions of people all over the world. I am not sure why you believe that he or anyone else is responsible for the attacks on September 11th. To blame America for that attack is masochism of the worst sort. No disrespect intended to you.Energy policy should be market driven. The government may as well build a bonfire with our tax dollars when they try to create alternative energy. The private market, not the government drives innovation.Climate change is unproven as to its trajectory and severity. The idea that Chuck Shumer and Nancy Pelosi should be given the authority to make us all drive smart cars is a premature in my opinion.Best

    • @trimanlast
      @trimanlast 8 років тому

      +johnmburt1960 Thanks for the response. The debt is driven by spending which increases every year. The growth did not occur in the first yearof Reagan's administration, the tax cuts took about a year to have their impact. His policies led to the longest period of economic growth in American history.With regard to Osama Bin Laden's comments, I am not sure what you are advocating. Should we have committed more troops to Beirut? I don't know the answer to that question. You wrote that Reagan's foreign policy led to the 9/11 attacks. That reads like you are blaming some other party than the perpetrators.I do not know what you mean about alternative energy providing a return on investment to the federal government. The federal government is involved in many things (including energy) that should be left exclusively to the private market.Best

    Fire and police departments USED to be "for profit" If you paid them you got a plaque on your house from THAT firehouse. If you didn't pay they let your house burn. Sometimes opposing fire companies would set the fire and THEN block the one you paid from gettng there. yeah, competition is ALWAYS good.

      +theanguished1 Thanks for the response. I disagree with your assessment. I have never heard him talk about geniuses such as Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, or Debbie Wasserman Shultz. That is how these comedians roll so to speak. Conservative politicians are crazy anti science religious zealots but Democrats are the defenders of science, rationality and human rights. When democrats are criticized it is usally because they have not fought hard enough for their policies.

    • @theanguished1
      @theanguished1 9 років тому +1

      +Brian Mcmahon I'm sure you are on to something, yeah he doesn't pick on democrats as much right NOW, but watch how much he picked on Bill Clinton he didn't hold back. Think about it though, most comedians fall on the opposite side of the spectrum, their usually atheists, they also have a sense of humor and that puts them as enemies against conservatives I think.

    To play devil's advocate, there is a not very surprising reason that people who "come from nothing" have little empathy for those who still have nothing. The obvious thought is: "I did it - you should have also". It is the easiest way to believe that poor people deserve their lot in life. Of course, this doesn't explain why their parents, who raised them with nothing, were apparently unable to achieve as they did. It seems that those who do not achieve success when you do are losers.

The animal is a symbol of freedom in reproductive rights something Palin has been too silent on despite having such a large female fan base.

Politicians should try to achieve success based on their own merits. But then again, this is American Politics we're talking about, and there is absolutely no room for rationality in this house.
