The PSA about using only "arigato" in Japan (or with Japanese people) isn't really correct. While it is the less formal way (like "thanks" vs "thank you"), it's still considered acceptable in most situations, usually, so long as your demeanor is polite and/or friendly.

Ohh okay! Thanks @drongo for the info 😁 I love Japanese culture and learning about it when I can so I really appreciate that! Have you ever been or live in Japan? See the crayons so not sure if you can say either?

@@ghillieghostgaming Yeah, I've spent most of my adult life in Japan. A lot of YT channels about this country push the idea that it's always super strict and formal and difficult to understand, but the reality is Japan's basically like most everywhere else.

@drongobum2037 I'm actually really glad to hear that. I found some of this advice from some who moved there as a young adult from a European country and tries to educate people on life in Japan. How is life in Japan these days btw? I hope the chaos of the world isn't making too much trouble there 💯 Btw, it you ever get a chance to please join a stream of mine on Twitch I'd love to learn more about Japan 😁

@@ghillieghostgaming It's easy for foreigners to exist happily in Japan. All they have to do is behave themselves. Be polite and sensible. Don't act like a drunken moron. That's pretty much it, really.
Foreign social media content creators in Japan want everyone to believe this country to be very "different" and "exotic" because the content creators think it makes it seem as if they're achieving something just being here. "Z0MFG, I'm a foreigner in Japan! Aren't I amazing? Like, Comment and Subscribe!" 😆
