I think this is the first time I am able to appreciate non-duality from a very simple humanistic point of view. Thanks, Ira Ji for this great talk. Love your statement "I am the witness of time".

Iraji's a sage. Proof positive that the most intelligent discussion of these topics will only rarely -- if ever -- come from the mouths of famous, for-profit swamis, much less from academics! The best kind of adept of non-dual teachings is 5% devotee, 95% autodidact. Ira has spent decades poring over Sanskrit and English-language materials related to Vedanta and Indian philosophy, and not a little time discussing the issues with his friends. His teaching is satisfying, like a gourmet meal.

23:20 really resonated with me, in our dreams it’s like we’re the witness, sometimes the witness of our own ego & sometimes the witness of an entirely different life & person.. our dreams leave clues about the nature of consciousness
That was a GREAT last comment... as, this teaching is "the right stuff" and actually made me yearn for more sleep where the Self truly reigns Supreme. Glad I found these ideas and expressions of higher understanding... since "he who knows does not know." Better to deal with "What Is" instead of rotating on the illusion... of waking, dreaming, and dreamless sleep... as simply witnessed by "The Which Of Which There Is No Which-er..." in the fourth state, or the Turiya state. I've heard it said that one cannot even get a taste for the higher without giving up the lower; just as one cannot give up the lower without getting a taste of the Higher. But, of course, meditation, diet, spiritual (and regular) hygiene, all good. The main thing is "yearning" for discrimination... between the real and the unreal. It's more of an understanding on a very deep level... mostly involving experience and maturity, according to Satya Dev, who became very realized at a very early age. As Satya Dev once told me, "If you can: eat moderately; sleep soundly; breathe sharply; and, understand deeply or profoundly... you're there; you're a yogi." I love that.
This is the best explanation of the three states of consciousness and Satcitananda I have ever heard. I've been reading the Upanishads and other Vedanta texts for years and Atma Chaitanya explained it well. A student of nondual Advaita Vedanta teachings would do well to listen to this talk over again - thank you, Ira. Om, shanti, shanti, shanti. Peace, peace, peace.
This presentation is really ALL you need to know to remember who you really are. So great and loving what Ira is sharing here. Om Namaha Shivay! Thank you Ira for sharing the true nature of who you are and who we are. We are all ONE there is only ONE.
This man looks like a true wizard and seems as wise. Thanks for sharing this information. By far the clearest explanation of Non-Duality I have encountered out there so far.
The Rug Veda is the oldest texts of Hinduism, I thought. So I looked it up, and yes, 1,200 to 1,500 yrs old. And the Upanishads expound on the Vedas. Anyway the Ribhu gita says there is no "formed" or "formless". It's so great to have the experience then read about it later. It's like a movie screen. In a movie there might be a car crash or a flood or a fire. But when it's over, the screen is not bloody or wet or burned. Nothing really happens. I know very well I stopped thinking at least a couple times. I forgot there was an "I" altogether. It was so peaceful and safe and quiet. I didn't have words for it for years. No thoughts in that state.
He explained it so well. One thing that stood out to me is the idea of selfless action. I now understand what that really means. It’s not just about doing charity work. It’s about the intent behind all of your actions.
Any amount of talk or reading will not help unless one sits and meditate regularly no Truth (self) can be realized. He can only show the path but it is our responsibility. I practice Vipasana everyday two hours for the last ten years and it has helped me a lot.

As human we all aspire to know the secret of our evolution, of emergence of our consciousness which can pervade the infinitude of space and time (an essential quality of the intelligent designer). What are we doing with this quality? With this quality (that has no shape, color, ever awake and witnessing our every action) we are able to feel the ever present divine purpose that compliments what we are. This knowledge is the proof of the existence of the divine creator, a knowledge that evades those who fail to appreciate the marvels that bows our head in gratefulness. One of the best, most distilled, most laid-out descriptions of Advaita Vendatta I've ever encountered. I have some intellectual push-back I'd like to present, but trying to tap-out such on a phone's keyboard, is too cumbersome. Let first points ride... :) PS: Now that I have use of a real key-board, and not to detract from the beautiful presentation and distillation of such powerful teaching on Self Realization, BUT, I noticed Ira claiming with such force that "this isn't religion", yet he states that there is a whole town/university/ashram, in Rishikesh, where as he says, hundreds of monks have renounced worldly life, and devoted all their efforts to learning this philosophy. This is where I have a bit of "trouble". 1) This "witness" that he talks about, that he says with such fervor is "experientially real", and how he states so repetitiously and emphatically that it's NOT a "religion or belief" (he states this so many times when talking about Advaita Vendata that it almost negates itself by the effort to distinguish itself from "belief, faith and religion"...AND point number. Still, at the core of SELF-REALIZATION, tremendous "FAITH" is required. 2) You have hordes of folks "striving" for "what they already are"; Still, as personal and as like-able as Mr. Schepetin is, one doesn't get the sense that he's talking from said "Enlightenment", but rather as a profound scholar that has a gift to relay such profundity on an "everyday level", so the masses can understand. By-the-way, I play the devil's advocate here, not out of disrespect, but rather, knowing this "philosophy" (calling Advaita Vendata a "philosophy" is a mistake in it self"...yet point taken, bc in referring to it, we must call it something, no?) intellectually myself, from hearing countless Nisargadatta and Ramana Maharshi UA-cam talks and reading books...yet it is still a "philosophy/teaching to me", and it is not known to be "the absolute Truth", as I know and feel it in my heart to be---from a position of having said Enlightenment myself. This isn't to dismiss or diminish the Truth presented here, only to jibe and agitate "the teaching", so I/we can gain a better awareness and knowingness of the Truth presented. It's funny how some folks can be gifted with such Grace to "get-it", while OTHERS labor a life "striving". Maybe as Nisargadatta admonishes, through japa and repeating the mantra of Brahman on a daily basis, hourly basis, we'll be so "AWAKENED". God-Bless US ALL! :) PS: Also, I might h add, I haven't "turned-within" as is so required. I'm hanging on Maharshi's refrain that "even a householder can-should remain on the path, and has an opportunity to become so aware and enlightened to his REAL NATURE, SELF-ILLUMINATION. (I had my first child x2-years ago, and i'm x50-years now, and working to provide for our family...so it's tough to "give-up that".) I get-it that the "world outside experienced by our senses", will not lead us to the profound truth of our BEING, and that turning-within is the ONLY way. "All good things in all good time"...is a funny phrase to use here, bc we are talking about "some thing, no thing" outside of "time", yet one can understand, that discipleship, studying with a Guru, and "ripening", might require said "time". Godspeed to us all! :) PS: Sorry to go on-and-on, but I also want to say, when I am with my family, and we are simply BEING together, with no agenda, no outward "doing" or have-to's, etc. etc. I do get "bubbly" and feel naturally happy. Yet that time is so rare and short-lived, b/c the "doing" comes-back-in-force, and we find ourselves scattered and that "natural abiding PEACE" become shattered a bit. Mind you, I can/do have such "natural peace" too, often by myself (or should I say, more-often by myself), when I'm not "engaged with the outside world" or troubled with some task or seeming have-to-do's. I know it's there...that "flame of happiness and well-being", but I don't get to experience it enough, b/c of the "doing" that always and eventually comes calling. I say this, just to say, that there are aspects of Advaita Vendata, that I "know to be the Truth" experientially . I have always tried to craft my life, to lend itself to such "contemplative awareness",...but it's a process and art I'm still mastering.
Excellent perception and reasonably good description. Dream and dreamer are separated which is Maya and Shiv and both are just one. Dream, dreaming is part of the creation and exists without which birth of a person and the experiences of the world are impossible. Time and space and associated being even though one and same unity but that unity has infinite experiences as knowledge. Everything else is just projection.
Thanks the Shiva sutras define this Adwaita and Aaadi Shankara has written books on this it has helped me to understand this Adwait witnessing consciousness. We remain in touch. Pranams
Wow! What a clarity and simplicity with which Ira has conveyed the deepest truths of advaita vedanta so directly and so precisely. What a humility! Thanks Bill for filming it and thanks Drs. Moschetta for uploading it. In order to find a clearer explanation of the avastha-traya prakriya (the analysis of the three states), you have to go to India and look for the right teachers who are trained in traditional advaita. Here in this video, Ira has shared his realization based on years and years of seeking, reflecting, and contemplation. Hats off to Ira! This kind of clarity is not given to everyone! Please share more video and audio recordings of this gem of a teacher. Sadly, there are only 4 videos. With folded hands and a deep bow....
Very important points made, a great teacher. The One expresses and also experiences Itself, reveals Itself to Itself, in many ways. The diversity of unity. Yet, even so, there is only ONE AWAKENING.
Indeed this talk is so saintly and yet so clear and precise. Pity that we don't find more of his videos in You Tube. Excellent is surely an understatement.

Y e s . sharing. A universal extra-illuminary. Shining through the shadow of life for all to see, with greater clarity, their vision of intent and sincerity.
From all the Vedas, Purāṇas, Itihāsa and Smṛti scriptures, I have gleaned the principle that jīva, māyā, īśvara, Brahman and Parameśvara are all eternal. Puruṣottama Bhagavān, Akṣarabrahman, māyā, īśvara and jīva - these five entities are eternal. Brahmavidya (Supreme Science) When the Buddha started to wander around India shortly after his enlightenment, he encountered several men who recognized him to be a very extraordinary being. They asked him: "Are you a god?" "No," he replied. "Are you a reincarnation of god?" "No," he replied."Are you a wizard, then?" "No." "Well, are you a man?" "No." "So what are you?" They asked, being very perplexed. Buddha simply replied: "I am awake." Buddha means “the awakened one.” How to awaken is all he taught. It is a man's own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways. This is why the West has Troubles with what they call “Buddhism” actually Brahmavidya. No Accountability for mind and Body Those who worship don’t know, Those who Know don’t worship. “There are two extremes, monks, which must be avoided. What are these extremes? A life given to pleasures, dedicated to pleasures and lusts - this is degrading, sensual, vulgar, unworthy, and useless. And, a life given to self-torture - this is painful, unworthy, and useless.” We must, said the Buddha, follow the Middle Path “which leads to insight, which leads to wisdom, which produces calm, knowledge, enlightenment, and nibbana” (Samyutta Nikaya 56).[2] The Buddha’s teaching is often called the “middle path” because he taught that one should shun all extremes and instead live a life of moderation.
Goodness.... profound.... wow!!! This is not a lecturer, it's not memorized information he's sharing... "from the point of the universe you're god. But from the point of view of absolute truth you're the only reality, one without a second."
Imagining creates reality. From my own experience, we are sharing a collective dream. I think that we split and fragmented ourselves and got lost in the dream. If we don't realized who we really are, we can get lost in the dream and forget the 'Original Self'. From my own experience and perspective, this dream-life is not really occurring. :)
Dear Soul, From the first second I felt magnetized to this marvelous video - so so clear and humble. One thing still, I would like to comment, but it's not easy to explain in human words. When you say to the people in the room that from the point of view of the "witness", every one has the same witness, this notion looks for me different, and I'll do my best to explain: every human being is a manifestation of a certain very deep energy or beam of the total existence. The sum of all the existing energies is the only one "witness", God in a different name, that can be aware of the totality. I never felt that a single human being can witness so much, or, in other words, be in that place of Godly witness. If I am right therefore, when meditating and leaving the "ego" state aside, we can be maybe closer or less close to the position of Godly witnessing. If that's correct, then there must be still differences in the witnessing of different people. Thanks, Yigal
+Yigal Fisher No.they are you-you are them only boddy indentification seperate vieuw not complete oness prevents complete connection to one vieuw.subject /source
It's already taught by maha Guru Osho. The pure witness...it's pure subjectivity. It's knower not known by any experience...it's experienceless yet it is. Beyond all experience it is and AM.
"Tat tvam asi" translated to English would mean "Thou art That (Supreme Divinity)". It means that the Supreme Lord is within each and everyone. It means that everybody has divinity within him/her.
So does it mean we should go to deep sleep to experience absolute ? No. One state which he didn't mentioned is Turiya avastha, or fourth state. Which is conscious/awareness in deep sleep. We remember deep sleep after waking up but you are at that point aware of the state. Also how do u define self realization ? Its consciousness experiencing itself, when there is no I. I think Eckhart tolle covers it well. Though Ira has covered the concepts very nicely. Further referencing "I am that" -Nisargdatta talks, Eckhart Tolle, Ramana Maharshi.
Turiya state is not the fourth state . Actually turiya is the only or the real state in which all three waking, sleeping, dreaming appear & disappear. Turiya maye be seen as the substraum for these three states. Turiya is ignorantly considered as fourth state but actually it is the only or the real state. You may see it as pure conciousness(self) unaffected, unchanged by the three states.

PS: Also, I might h add, I haven't "turned-within" as is so required. :)
PS: Sorry to go on-and-on, but I also want to say, when I am with my family, and we are simply BEING together, with no agenda, no outward "doing" or have-to's, etc.
Clear, simple, on point. Sad guru tam namami. Ty for posting.
So happy to find this video... it can't get better than this
Excellent perception and reasonably good description.
'when the dreamer dreams the dreamed the dreaming stops' ... much love for this contribution
Brilliantly explained. What a precious tracher :-)
That was such a great explanation of non-duality, like the way he told the story of the ten monks compared to those previously read.🔱
Thanks the Shiva sutras define this Adwaita and Aaadi Shankara has written books on this it has helped me to understand this Adwait witnessing consciousness. We remain in touch. Pranams
He must have more videos he's so clear, I would love to hear more.. Plus he's actsent is cool
Excellence Explanations We are lucky to have you in our life
You don't follow Islam brother?
This is the best description I have heard to date.
Very important points made, a great teacher. The One expresses and also experiences Itself, reveals Itself to Itself, in many ways. The diversity of unity. Yet, even so, there is only ONE AWAKENING.
Thankyou! I LOVED this, VERY clear!!!
Indeed this talk is so saintly and yet so clear and precise. Pity that we don't find more of his videos in You Tube. Excellent is surely an understatement.
Oh I am so honoured to listen to someone at last who holds truth... Thank you
The best explanation I have gone through of non duality
This man is brilliant. ...or should i say I'm brilliant as him lol. Loved this. This is the clearest teaching I've heard and I've heard a lot
Telecast this video in all schools, colleges and in streets around the world....
....I AM THAT....
...The kingdom of heaven is within...
...Thathvam Asi......
.....Aham Brahmasmi............
Thank You - I like his kind of storytelling approach. I feel that it make this teaching more accessible. Namaste'
WHOA! This is so recent! I thought it was like in the 70's! I just looked at the date in the description when that cellphone started ringing, lolol. I've heard about all this nonduality stuff just today! It's amazing! I hope i find something that makes sense, something that explains this reality around me, and something that helps me overcome the fear of death....
+daywedie from advaita vedanta I got into buddhism when I was younger, then I went into hinduism again and came to Advaita.... now I understand ( :
+daywedie he who seeks finds :)
That ringtone i loath
What's amazing is that you found this talk on the day you first heard of non-duality!
Somebody buy this man a Strawberry milkshake!
Wonderful teaching!
The day I see him, strawberries shake surely :) Bamm Bamm...
See sir.......This gentleman is not playing money games or Fame games.
THAT is what shows you the fakes from real teachers.......
I am sure at least for some time, he'll BE the strawberry milkshake. He'll be that!
+Mohsin Ali For real man...this cat is cool...no nonsense
The milkshake *is* That. "He" is That. "You" are That. "I" am That. All is That, and That is all there is.
Excellent explanation -- This teacher shares the universal message of Vedanta. Very well.
Y e s . sharing. A universal extra-illuminary. Shining through the shadow of life for all to see, with greater clarity, their vision of intent and sincerity.
Too good. Further clarified the teachings of my Guru. ☺
Much love and respect to this learned scholar.
He knows what he is speaking about...best I heard so far.
Thank you Ira for sharing your insights, yourself, nothing is more valuable!
Excellent spiritual discourse made so simple to understand. God bless sir
Wonderful. Very clear.
Brahmavidya (Supreme Science)
When the Buddha started to wander around India shortly after his enlightenment, he encountered several men who recognized him to be a very extraordinary being.
No Accountability for mind and Body
Those who worship don’t know, Those who Know don’t worship.
What a amazingly clear, straight to the point , no messing teacher, move over eckheart lol..excellent
Clearly articulated and well spoken. Now, do you see it occurring all around you, as you? Do you 'know what to do' with it? Do you see it?
Goodness.... profound.... wow!!! This is not a lecturer, it's not memorized information he's sharing... "from the point of the universe you're god. But from the point of view of absolute truth you're the only reality, one without a second."
A good teacher or, let's say, a good pointer for any sincere seeker...
THIS MAN IS THE WISEST MAN TO EVER EXIST
That which speaks might say it isn't that. Man is a concept.
Thank you for this great talk.
lately I've been feeling more present in my dream state than my awake state.
Out of all advaita videos ive seen, this is the best!
Dear Soul, From the first second I felt magnetized to this marvelous
video - so so clear and humble. One thing still, I would like to
comment, but it's not easy to explain in human words. When you say to
the people in the room that from the point of view of the "witness",
every one has the same witness, this notion looks for me different, and
I'll do my best to explain: every human being is a manifestation of a
certain very deep energy or beam of the total existence. The sum of all
the existing energies is the only one "witness", God in a different
name, that can be aware of the totality. I never felt that a single
human being can witness so much, or, in other words, be in that place of
Godly witness. If I am right therefore, when meditating and leaving the
"ego" state aside, we can be maybe closer or less close to the
position of Godly witnessing. If that's correct, then there must be
still differences in the witnessing of different people. Thanks, Yigal

Thanks for uploading.
It's already taught by maha Guru Osho. The pure witness...it's pure subjectivity. It's knower not known by any experience...it's experienceless yet it is. Beyond all experience it is and AM.
Endless gratitude beloved
superb sir you are really great.....you explained in just simple and practical way..... pranam to you.... Thankyou
"Tat tvam asi" translated to English would mean "Thou art That (Supreme Divinity)". It means that the Supreme Lord is within each and everyone. It means that everybody has divinity within him/her.
No, it means everything is God/consciousness and only consciousness exists.
Excellent presentation. Brilliant.Thank you.
Gandalf the great is real! Joking aside, this man non-dual wisdom is profound. His pointings towards our true inherent nature are on point :)
I have lost so much financially and trying to make peace with it and get over my mistakes. There is so much shame it’s so difficult to enjoy my life
Really great analysis of the three states of mind...ohhhhh ohhhhh no words.....
Beautiful, thank you for sharing
Thank you, great speech with clear message.
Great talk time to time I am listening it... 🙏
yogavasistha maharamayana is the greatest textbook on non duality.
Great teachings
An interesting explanation or talk on Non-duality or Advaita. Love and Love alone ...
Thank you. Another Great Teacher of a Great Philosophy (Vedanta).
I enjoyed listening to him. And I want to grow a beard.
I love Gandalf's teachings
wonderful essence sir!!
