The actress acting was superb! Her overwhelming fear was palpable! I never saw someone so terrified before. Her terror caused her to put herself in dangerous situations. She was making me feel very anxious!
What follows the end of the episode is one of Hitch's funniest dark humor outros: _"And so once again the Creeper commits the most heinous crime a woman can imagine; he takes a telephone away from her in the middle of a call."_
That is CONSTANCE FORD who was a marvelous and versatile actress. She is in full Barbara Stanwyck mode here and makes us feel every moment of fear. Hard to believe that she played the frigid wife in the film A Summer Place and then was marvelous with Robert Mitchum as his slutty mistress in the greatly under-rated Home From the Hill. Percy Kelton at his most unsettling and the great Reta Shaw in an uncommon nasty role.
Are you talking about Robert Mitchum killed his wife and threatened to kill her children for money?I liked that one especially when he called "oh children " he had evil tattooed on his hand, I think I find it and watch. Thanks💞
@@poetcomic1 I did find it also on bud, starz, and someplace on ruku classics. Constance Ford never got the accolade she deserved as a great actress, what a shame she wasn’t in more movies for us to enjoy. Thanks for the upload!👍.
Constance Ford and Reta Shaw. Two marvellous actresses. Constance was on Another World for so many years as Ada. Reta Shaw was in so many shows. I loved Pajama Game and The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.
I remember a lot of these classic eoisodes. The problem is all these episodes they are showing on UA-cam are being butchered, They are are only showing 10 or 11 minutes of the show. There is a least 30 minutes they are cutting. There is no point in watching. I know this episode very well, and they cut most of the episode. I am just being honest.
Apparently we’re not talking about her stellar hiding ability? - behind an open staircase rail and then against a wall (I can’t see you, so you can’t see me!) … sigh …

Magnificent acting by Constance Ford, Reta Shaw and the entire cast. The surprise ending was sad, poor Ellen Grant, she trusted the wrong person to open her door to.

She enters her room, locks the door, phone rings, which there's one on the wall next to the door, and goes across the room to pick up the phone on the table! Probably one of Hitch''s pranks he would often use on set.

Often the woman is getting killed, but not all the time of the time. In "Lamb for the Slaughter", for instance, a wife murders a cheating husband. Likewise, in the following episodes it's women who either kill men or have them killed: "Revenge", "Hooked", "Deathmate", "Never Again", "The Right Kind of House", and possibly more. And of course, there are plenty where it's men who are murdering men.
@@Galantski Lamb For Slaughter the detectives & policemen eating the weapon that she killed her husband with a leg of lamb one of my favorite Hitchcock's episodes I think the woman that played the was Barbara Bel Geddes played Miss Ellie on Dallas February 3,2020
@@sheiladavis6523 You're right, it was Barbara, a fine actress. She was also in Hitchcock's _Vertigo._ "Lamb for the Slaughter" was one of the few episodes in the series that Hitch himself directed, and he went for the dark humor he so loved. At the end, when they're eating the lamb, once of the cops says that for all they know, the murder weapon could be right under our their noses, while the camera shows Bel Geddes' character sitting in a chair across the room from them and quietly chuckling when he says that. A memorable episode for sure.

Another magnificent performance by Ms. Ford.

Constance Ford was in a movie years ago, can't remember the title. It was about prison, I think she played a guard. It was a great movie.
I agree she was an amazing actress, I particulary enjoyed her performance in the Twilight Zone epsiode, Uncle Simon.
She played a supreme be-ach in A SUMMER PLACE.
She was brilliant as the mother of Sandra Dee in A Summer Place. She had real presence as an actress.
I remember Constance Ford as Ada, Rachel's long suffering mother on Another World!
I always liked this episode; it would have been nice to see it from beginning to end.
I saw this years ago & thought it was really scary. Still do. Brilliantly acted & produced. Thanks for posting.

This was remade 30 years later in 1986 in NBC's revival of the series....the remake has an even darker ending.
Why did the episode stop before the end .
This was one of the scariest episode ever. Unfortunately, Peacock does not have the full episode up. It's so scary I remembered the name of it.

How did the killer know her name know the name of her hardware store and know that she was waiting to have a chain lock put on? That can't be guessing
It's called a stalker, they're professional psychopaths.
Yes i always wondered if the killer was her old boyfriend but Ellen saw the Creeper’s face before she was strangled to death ? Who was the Creeper ??
I think this is the actress from “Uncle Simon”!! Love that twilight zone
Yes, it is. Her name is Constance Ford. Great actress. 😊

Good twist at end
Like all Hitchcock dramas, inspired by the ironic twist endings of American short-short story writer O. Henry.
