Thanks for sharing. It's worth mentioning about existing toolkit which is bundled to almost every linux distribution - sar. And some advanced cli performance monitoring tools, which can work as daemons to collect and persist metrics, as atop. Something, that is lighweight and doesn't not require a lot of extra software to be installed and efforts to manage that.
True but Linux forgot the best part of sar, which is sag the graphics piece that we had on Unix, so you still will need the graphics component. And you may find that you will need a database as well because sar data only exists in the log files which can be periodically purged (usually 25-30 days) by the system. Sysstat is still, a good utility to know.
@@CyberGizmo need to hint to all those rust developers to spend some of their time on a sag for linux, instead of making yet another clone of cat utility :)
Hi DJ, thank you so much for sharing this video. I'm installing Open Source Grafana 9.x in a RHEL9.4. As part of grafana installation I also got grafana-pcp and grafana-selinux installed. however I can't see any PCP datasource in my installation. What could be wrong? Many thanks in advance.

@@CyberGizmo as for databases there're plenty of embeded ones to choose from. Berkeley DB, sqlite are from the top of my head
Just what I need. Thank you very much!
