Thanks for a very thorough review of the Geekom GT1 Mega. After purchasing my mini, I ordered upgrades and when I opened it my wifi and bt cables disconnected. I watch almost every mega review and no one talked about the possibility of disconnecting either of those cables... and the one guy who did, did it (fixed it) off camera. I truly appreciate the save Bro. You got a subscriber.
Good work with the various modes tested, well done. I want to thank you very much for doing the whole opening of the case and showing the cooling system. It's such a nice thing to do, thank you. Man, the cables that connect to the wifi cards are so annoying lol. Especially if the cable is not cooperating. AARGH! Good to see you had no real issue. Thanks for the video. Hardware wise, it's a fine mini PC, no question about it.
I maybe an odd person, but I like it more than the base M4 Mac Mini due to better ports and design. - 6 Type A ports - Full SD card reader - 2 HDMI 2.0 ports - Full access to X86 software compatibility. - Replaceable RAM and SSD. - Cinebench R24 Multi-core score above 900.
It's a great mini pc but with a mayor flaw: it doesn't have thunderbolt 5. That would be perfect, as thunderbolt 5 has a bandwidth of 80Gb/s and it makes it perfect to connect external GPU. I'll get for future revisions.
Question, I’m on the fence on Geekom or Beelink. What’s your experience with customer service between Geekom vs. Beelink? The last thing I want on my desk is an expensive plastic brick.
Oh I can't help you there. As I was given these review units by them directly I didn't yet need to contact customer support. Might want to check Reddit for that :)
Thank you so much for this review! I edit videos for a living and my old computer from 2018 has an Intel I7 processor with a 1080 GT card. I can’t edit Raw 6K video at all or H265. Premiere lags at the very first frame. Would this PC be able to edit H265 at least? Would it be any upgrade from my old editing station? I would upgrade the Geekom to 64 gb of ram to make it as fast as possible.
A GTX 1080??? That's still a good card. Also for video editing with it's 11GB of VRAM. Which i7 is it? I don't think a mini pc would be the right upgrade for you. Which kind of software are you using?
@ thanks for your reply! I’m not at the office right now, so I don’t know exactly what I7 it is, but I remember that it was one of the best in 2018. My computer works great, but it simply refuses to play back any type of 6K raw footage or H265 footage… and at the same time, I’m in love with the small form factor from these new computers… I’m editing in Premiere Pro 25.
@@sa.t.2507 Again. If 6K Raw Footage and 265H Encoding is your priority. DON'T get this Mini PC. It will be a degrade from your current system. Whats the issue with 6K Footage editing right now? Choppy? Or not working at all? Are you saving the files on a fast SSD (That's a MUST, don't use HDDs for that) Also the GTX 1080 can encode h265 Material, but might be limited by 8GB VRAM. If youre into professional editing I would recommend investing in an RTX 4080 and maybe upgrade your i7. I'M assuming it's a i7 8700k or 9700k. YOu could just use a 9900K instead for more threads. Together with the GPU, and a RAM upgrade you'll pay around the same as for a mini PC and get much more performance out of it.
@ Well it wont play at all in Premiere, only 1-2 frames and then it stops even from a SSD! My issue is that my motherboard is last gen socket so I can’t put in any newer processor as far as I’ve been told. So I would need to change the motherboard in order to be able to put in a newer processor I guess? Question is are my issues down to the GPU or the CPU or both. And I would love to have a small compact computer!
How did you deal with the plexiglass, when you reconnected the antenna? Did you remove it? Is there enough space to slide it back in and reconnect? This is where I'm stuck unfortunately.
Hi first I want to congratulate you for the excellent service that you give to your subscribers in my opinion you are very concrete and direct in the fractures or specifications and obviously you know what you are saying.... I am amazed about this new machine like mini PC configuration... And I will be honest with you I want your opinion about one specific one, for me and my personal use , have to Nederland on next week for a opportunity to work on my area, and I need a new PC, basically for Gaming and entertainment, I have two options on mind an Laptop or mini PC and a budget of 1000 € Eureos , and I prefer the mini PC option, and have to play RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 at least ... Could you give me your Opinion please
If gaming is one of your main concerns I would get a (gaming)laptop with a dedicated Nvidia or AMD GPU. That will make a big difference. There are several models from 800-1000 euros in Europe and surely in the Netherlands as well. :)
You can usually build a faster Desktop-PC for less money. A Mini PC is for people that want/need a... well small (Mini) PC :) Something subtle, maybe with Style, also very energy efficient. And in this case VERY strong considering CPU and Daily Work Stuff. The PC you mentioned would of course be much better for gaming, but considering the rest, this MiniPC would even be faster.
@@truenetgmx I mean a mini PC is much more mobile than a desktop, but if you really need to take it with you a lot, a laptop would make more sense. Though, yeah, they DO have a place on the market, otherwise nobody would buy them :D What's interesting for my Channel, is the fact that they're using Laptop Hardware:)
@@Hubwood when I travel once every like two months I usualy take with my laptop 16 inch mobile screen, keyboard, mouse. Rest of the time my macbook air is chained to my workplace - so yes, I'm part of this market (or all of it :D )
Is this igpu better than 780m from Radeon? Seems like a good deal except for having win11 on it and that costs so much lmao. I can get something just slightly bigger but with a dedicated GPU for similar or just a bit higher price.
@Hubwood Thanks. Would you recommend me any mini PC for gaming? That has 2TB SSD storage and a 780M? I was looking at minis forum and see one with dedicated GPU also but the price is a let down.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on our mini PC. Your comprehensive review of GEEKOM products is highly valuable to us!
