As an avid Mario Party enjoyer since 1, the only positive I can say about the Mario Party 9 is that the title screen makes me wanna cry by how beautiful it is
They don't know what their missing out on. I'll never forget when I was in middle school and undertale came out, and all my classmates went from not knowing what Earthbound was to talking about how much better undertale was. They, of course, didn't realize that it's creator is a huge fan of Earthbound, but that's beside the point.
My favorite games are Skies of Arcadia and Shenmue on Dreamcast and they may not be as divisive as the games shown in the video (which could be because they are a more niche and aren’t part of Nintendo or any popular franchises) but I have seen seen some contrasting opinions about the game so I’m using this as an opportunity to talk about it I love Skies of Arcadia because of its story, characters, art style, and world, but I’ve seen people who couldn’t play through the game because of its high encounter rate and fairly standard JRPG gameplay. Definitely gets annoying in some parts (particularly crossing the South Ocean and that part where you needed to grind for money) but I think the things I like about it that I mentioned more than make up for the faults for me. Shenmue is a game I thought was really fun but I’ve seen people who didn’t like it due to needing to wait around at parts for things to happen, the forklift segments, and the combat. Personally I liked exploring the world and interacting with things and talking to people so waiting wasn’t an issue for me, I can see why the forklift segments might get stale and repetitive to some people but I liked improving each time and racing the boxes to the warehouses and learning the layout of the harbor, and while the combat isn’t as straightforward as some other games, it’s really gratifying to master. One more problem is that with modern games and the internet people tend to look up guides a lot which I think would take away the fun of solving the mysteries in game and exploring.
Speak of the devil, I was actually planning on making a video on skies of arcadia not too long from now. I think it's a pretty underated gem and decent JRPG. I am so desensitized to high encounter rates with how many old school RPGs I've played lately that it doesn't bother me all that much tbh. Shenmue is a game that I need to give a second playthrough to see if I really like it. For a game that came out in 1999, the immersion is incredible. But it it's hard to figure out what to do at times, among other flaws. I really need to replay it and see if my opinions have changed any.
saying no one loves Majoras Mask, Super Paper Mario and Super Mario Sunshine is just wrong. Sure they're slightly more devisive entries in their series but the vast majority of people love those games. EarthBound Beginnings I can understand more since a lot of people don't like it as much as EarthBound and Mother 3.
Good point, I'm gonna rename the title. Also, it's worth pointing out that a lot of my experiences with how much people dislike these games are from my personal life and not online. I think the number of people that I've heard tell me they hated Majoras Mask or Sunshine have warped my perception of how unpopular these games are a little bit. Maybe I'm chronically offline.
I tried Super Paper Mario and I just didn’t like it. The story was great but the gameplay just sucks imo. I couldn’t even finish it. I got halfway through the game and just couldn’t do it anymore. I think it’s way worse than sticker star. Also I don’t really think super paper Mario belongs on a list like this. Super has a ton of fans. Its not something like hey pikmin or Metroid prime federation force

For a Nintendo 64 game it's really impressive all the character backstories, lore and nitty gritty details they managed to get in.

I disagree, but I respect your opinion. I don't blame you for not liking it, or anyone for not liking any of the game in this video.
My main problem is the controls. I hate having to use the wii-mote sideways, so uncomfortable. I wish it got a Switch port or something.
