Did you accidentally turn building integrity on? From what I'm seeing, if it's on then structures will break over time if they aren't supported properly, so that's why all of your large stair cases are breaking
Building Integrity just makes it so you can build without support. As in, you can make floating structures or stick things in walls if you wanted to. I have mine on and I have several giant ramps supporting up to 200 structures without collapsing. Pretty sure what happened was that bug that happened which removed the supporting tags associated with several structures. It's been fixed, but a lot of people lost their bases to it and were forced to revert to a previous save.

I beat the game but I still want to return to this later on. I know it's had full release already so will they ever add new weapons, armor and enemies? And if so, how long should I wait before playing again? A year? Or a couple months? Does anyone know?

The infected broodmother armor is specifically made to help with explosives! If you get the whole set, make a summon build (for the charm) and upgrade the armor (and weapon) than you have an INSANE explosive build! (Volotile fang is just as good since you will be able to make explosions on perfect blocks)
I feel like Cades had many bases but the tree house just hit different 😢

After the events of the great decaying many structures were lost but we must move on to a better and brighter future. Those builds Cade spent hours on are gone but not forgotten o7

Cade drinking the water in the infected broodmother dungeon, actually gives you a crit bonus, but also poisones you. So what I like to do is make a wasp potion and drink the water in the dungeon for a advantage
IF he plays Terraria, he will be asking a lot of questions. Especially in the harder difficulties.

Cade! There’s a building degradation mechanic. That’s why everything keeps collapsing. You can turn it off.
Btw, the chest dupe is working as of 1.2.4 if need be for the hoagie.
Drop something out of chest and retreive it at the same time, it'll drop and be in your invo at the same time. Save the game, reload - drop the current one out of your invo and pick up the duped.

You should try the Blaster of the Moldy Matriarch with the Apex Predator Mutation
Here is an idea for a new grounded mini-boss. It is like the Black Widow. A strong respawn able bug. It’s in the upper yard tire. Its gonna be like an adolescent frog. Probably as strong as the broodmother.

use the infected broodmother armor with the trinket and use mants so when the mants attack it does mini explosions then use spore lord for more explosion damage then use truffle tussel for even more explosions then buff lungs for more stamina W build

I have noticed multiple bug raids that to our knowledge you did not deal with so I think that the broken tree house and stairs was the bugs doing , so idea for the next video : use the blaster to kill every bug in the game
It's more than likely the build integrity setting he left on. Without proper support buildings will just slowly degrade.
Bases need to be supported by other structures. Otherwise they will collapse.

Did you know that if you throw the bomb to some leafs it automatically breaks them?
With dissection expert I got 9 venom from the infected broodmother after killing her once.
So it seems like you need to start over unless you will re build the stuff that broke
